I love President Goodluck Jonathan. Nigeria has improved GREATLY in the six years since he became president. I can even invite foreign friends to Nigeria without hiding my face, and I don’t even have to invite — the main cities are full of them. Where were they during Obasanjo’s reign? Or Babangida’s, or Abacha’s? They were scared, and rightly so.

I remember when journalists used to disappear if they dared to criticize the powers that were. Now we all sit around typing “I was laughing so hard watching President Goodluck’s workout video” without giving it a thought. That alone explains what a cool President he is. Also, Sept 11 happened in 2001 and it wasn’t until 2011 (10 years) that they caught and killed its mastermind. For those making noise about Boko Haram.

      January 21, 2015 at 9:43 am

You can’t compare Sept 11 with what BH is doing. That was a one-off event or were they killing Americans everyday within America? Did they take over any town or even street or even a house there unlike Nigeria, where they are taking over communities, hoisting their flags, killing innocents in places under State of emergency!!! If you want to compare, why not compare with what happened in recent times, look at France, in two days, the whole mess was sorted. You think if the masterminds of WTC killings had actually walked in there with bazooka blowing off people’s brains, they would have actually left America scot-free. Think before you type and stop comparing and condoning rubbish.

Even Kenya, when a shopping mall was under siege, they killed people but their military ensured that those guys were killed. Look at Baga, Chibok. These terrorists obviously had a free reign, just drive in with buses and kidnap, burn down houses; an operation that I am so sure lasted at least 1 hour? So what are we saying? If it were suicide bombers, I would understand those are harder to catch but living, breathing souls abeg!

    • Agidingbi

      January 21, 2015 at 12:12 pm

Hey Fatimah! not condoning anything in the least! But not capturing (or killing) the masterminds of Boko Haram within one week is not a reason for a president to be condemned, in the same way not capturing the masterminds of September 11 within one week was not a reason for George Bush Jr. or whoever was in power then, to be condemned. Now, I say masterminds — in both cases, lower-level culprits were captured, but the threats remained. In BOTH cases — I moved to the U.S. in 2001 so I know what I am talking about. There is a Wikipedia page on terrorist activity in the U.S. if you are interested.

We want the same thing – for Boko to come down on its knees. I have read reports in the past few weeks of Human Rights Watch saying the military are being harsh on Boko Haram. But we need to weed these people out. Things are happening — don’t be fooled. The people who want your vote would not necessarily do more.

By the way, almost every country maintains a wanted list, which means there are always criminals on the run. Paris, thank goodness they caught those guys, is one of the most advanced CITIES in the world (hi-tech surveillance cameras everywhere, citizen journalists whose first thought is ‘let me capture this on video’, etc) and cannot be compared to Chibok, which no one knew existed until about a year ago.

Also, in Paris, the killers had a target – the Charlie Hebdo guys, and they stuck to it, so it was easier for other witnesses to not be so scared for their lives, and to record, etc. The Boko Haram guys just come for everyone they see in the vicinity. It makes a huge difference to what the witness does in those moments of the attack.

We both want the same things, Fatima. One love.

    I think GEJ is Clueless.

But I refuse to believe that a 72 year old former military ruler is the right man to rule over a nation, whose population is made up of people under 35 yrs old.

Our Past is NOT our future.

Young Nigerians wake up! This election affects our future.

    When is the presidential debate?

    • rachel

      January 20, 2015 at 11:37 am

By that retarded comment, PDP (and by extension, President Jonathan) is not the path to the future, as they have been the last 16 years of our governance, and with nary a newly built power station or refinery to show for it.

Goodluck has yet to prove he has any innovation other than hopping on his feet to put the fire out from running so hard away from Boko Haram

Age is irrelevant and GMB wouldn’t be the oldest to ever contest or become the president of a country. Nigerian history also shows that even our youngest leaders can be as corrupt as the older ones in the current government. Any young leader will be controlled..makes no difference. For now, anything better than GEJ is a good start. Go get your voter’s card. #GMB 2015

    • kittykat

      March 7, 2015 at 11:13 am

Mmmmm so u really think electing leaders that have passed the retirement age the world over is positive change.? Really? If APC were really about change they wouldn’t have looked for a candidate that has clout based on religious and ethnic grounds but really brought out a change driver such as Fashola or Saraki. Young men with proven leadership capacity and a strong understanding of where Nigeria should be. GMB has no understanding of how to drive economic reforms. If his major stance is anti-corruption he should be made head of EFCC he could affect the change he seeks in that role

Its amazing the depth of unprofessional-ism that the President depicts.

Can a person rules with physical fitness alone without mental fitness? The President needs to showcase his achievement( not his intent) in that 49 seconds video. He owes Nigerians an explanation of the mandate given to him 4 years ago. The video is nothing but a sinking man gasping for air! NIGERIA WILL ARISE!!

A plane was about to crash and there were only four parachutes in the
plane. Meanwhile there were five passengers in it .The first passenger
was Cristiano Ronaldo and he said: I’m the best footballer, I can’t die
now”. So he took one parachute and jumped out of the plane. The second
passenger was Aliko Dangote and he said “I’m the richest man in Africa
and I’m too young to die”. So he took the second parachute and jumped
out of the plane. The third passenger was President Jonathan and he said: ”
I’m the smartest president in the world so I can’t die now, my people
still need me”. So he took one and jumped out of the plane. Then the
remaining two passengers left were Pope Francis and a little school
girl. The Pope said to the little girl “take the last parachute, I’ll
sacrifice my life for you” The little girl replied “No need for that.
There are two parachutes left” The Pope asked “How come?” The little girl
replied; “The Nigerian President took my school bag”.

BUhari, IBB, OBj, Abacha… they are all thieves and just passing Nigeria round. This is 2015 so let us move forward.. Nigeria is no.1 in Africa & it is normal to expect terrorism in some parts especially from neighboring countries. If it took USA over 9yrs to capture Osama after that major attack on WTC in 9/11, why are we complaining because GEJ hasn’t captured Boko Haram leader? Rome was not built in a day my fellow Nigerians. Patience is key!!! GMB & the bad eggs of PDP that decamped to APC are the problems this country is facing so i don’t see any change in voting for them.. GEJ is brandnew, GEJ is the future, he is working… Change doesn’t come overnight… it takes time. GEJ2015… think future… let’s move forward

For all those in support of this MONKEY: what about creating a video and campaign based on his accomplishments!! Please name 1 before the elections were postponed. I dare you. Definitely Buhari isn’t the best of choices but this nincompoop and his supporters further convince me that this country is in the last stages of its demise. To those who tell me not to insult this fool then I would like to see what you will do if your father’s throat in front of your mother and siblings and NO justice is realized for them. He doesn’t visit or even attempt to rebuild the town you lived in all your life and you come to see these most disrespectful and distasteful videos of him continuing to push for more years as I may get to see other families members slaughtered and killed before my eyes. Instead of exhausting energy in defending this buffoon expend the same energy in trying to determine what this country’s will be under another 4 years. If your town was destroyed as others were I hope you get to see what this bastard will do to rise you above it all. Anyone who supports Jonathan is only consumed with self promotion and short term goals (whatever they may be) and not for the healing and restoration of the country itself.
