Buhari Threatens Legal Action Against AIT & NTA Over “Hate Broadcasts”

Buhari 2015 BN 3All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhamadu Buhari has threatened to file a lawsuit against African Independent Television (AIT) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for airing what he has described as “hate broadcasts” against his personality.
Buhari’s threats comes just shortly after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) warned all broadcasting stations operating in the country to “adhere strictly to the provisions of the broadcasting code or risk sanctions,” Vanguard reports.
The presidential candidate’s  legal team is insisting that the two stations must not only retract the “hate documentaries,” but must also issue a public apology to Buhari, and have warned that failure to do so would result in swift legal action.

This man is not even president yet, and he’s already going after his detractors? I’m sure Femi Anikulapo Kuti would have been better placed to tell his opponents what they can look forward to… As for apologies, I wonder when Ekwueme, Jakande and the rest can look forward to receiving one from him..

It is his right as a citizen of this country to pursue justice when he is falsely accused by the media and others. The reason why we have such lawlessness in our country is because citizens are unaware of their rights, besides those responsible for protecting & upholding those rights are irresponsible.
So yes I support Buhari in seeking legal action against malicious and hate-fuelled campaigns. Enough is Enough! Welcome to law and order. If you don’t like it, check yourself.

But he only issued a warning to seek a legal means to stop AIT and NTA from hateful campaign against him. That is what a normal person will do. You don’t allow the opposition to smear your image by employing negative media, particularly in a hateful manner.

Buhari, why na. You just lost thousands of votes. This is the the digital age; why are you bothered? You should give kudos to GEJ for tolerating all insults directed towards him and family. Did you actually do the things being aired? if you did not and have concrete evidence, then sue their behind. If not, i think you should look the other way and restrategize.
I must say, the things i have been seeing in those videos reminds me of Idi amin of the old. Register, collect your PVC and vote for your preferred candidate.

Why are you always itching to attack my comments like you have not been getting good sex.; respect yourself. This is the last time i will ever reply you again. Get busy with something and be useful. You can do better than being a blog whore. This is 2015; leave Busarni alone. Busarni is not the cause of your sad, depressed and lonely life. I still put you in my prayers; be happy and love freely. Life is too short for all your blog drama. Well, if attacking Busarni makes you feel better; ride on and God bless you.
Lastly, i included as a point in my prayer request a good , God fearing Husband for you . Sorry, it didn’t work out between you and my cousin. I am not the cause; your overbearing and nagging attitude did not help the relationship. God still loves you. Ello bae,,

We all know that between the two candidates one cannot just control his emotions; he cannot take criticisms. It doesn’t matter if what is said is an obvious fact or truth that cannot be denied, he will move to silence you.
But as an aside, I still can’t see what GEJ campaign team is doing about the falsehood that he has spent six years or more in office. For the umpteenth time, Jonathan commenced his duties as Acting President on the 10th day of February 2010. It has not been FIVE YEARS since then but there’s no day I don’t read or hear comments preceeded by the line: ‘ For six years’. Some go as far as saying ‘After six years’. And they have been saying it since last year.
The fact of how long the President has been in office is just so basic and unambiguous it shouldn’t be altered.
It may not be the most important issue now but it matters too. One tweet from the GEJ campaign team might be enough to stop the spread of this fallacy.

I think we are all missing the point here, the first question I want to ask is, is anything working in Nigeria at the moment? The answer is no, so why shld I still vote in a president under whom nothing works. more so, u can’t compare a Buhari under military administration, who was young and vibrant to a Buhari who now has a lot of experience under a Democratic administration, he can’t rule with iron hand he used in ruling then. I’d rather vote for a Buhari who has the ability to end insurgence and corruption than vote for Gej who has demonstrated to us consistently that he’s incapable of dealing with these two major issues.

@Kemisola did you type ‘experience under democratic administration’? Buhari has no iota of experience on democracy or democratic administration. He has never worked for a democratic government and you can’t have that experience by contesting for president on four occasions. His experience is entirely military in nature and the content of this post is the proof.

With the way things are going in our country, I would think any sensible person would say no to adverts or comments that incite violence. If PDP feels they have evidence that Buhari committed all these things they claim he did, then they should go to court to seek redress for the people affected or even go to the ICC cos these are grievous crimes they accuse him of. You would expect that the people who sponsored the documentaries on AIT are very passionate about Nigeria but the question is, why didn’t they air this documentary since forever, why not all the while he has been contesting or why not just take it up and fight for the people who have been affected. The answer is that its all political strategy to turn us against each other and the path PDP is towing currently is that of desperation and it shows how scared they are (anything to make sure we remain in power). This government has failed and would continue to fail until we kick them out… I would prefer to vote for someone who can atleast ensure that there’s security of lives and properties and can root out curroption which is what has hindered our development over the years. One quick question again, of what use was that documentary on TV? Hate the Hausas and turn against them cos Buhari is Hausa and he is also Muslim. Yet we say GEJ and PDP are bunch of peaceful people…

What do you mean by hatefilled? did these things happen or not? those are not in any way 1% made up . Oga face the music and give us a debate, you have mouth to find legal action and legs to run from explaining to us what you want to do in front of us. Also give us prrof you wrote your school cert exams, even if you had F9 straight u will still be eligible, we all know you didn’t. at all. I don’t blame you, you are the smart one, Nigerians are the fools. Big fools. That someone like you can come out to run with supporters, as president in this day and age shows the level of deceit, ignorance and stupidity in that country. GOD FORBID!

@Sauce, do u have facts and figures, that Buhari is behind the insurgence?

    • Sauce

      February 2, 2015 at 6:55 pm

Keep fooling yourself instead of calling a spade a spade. The fact that this man never for once came out to condemn the acts of BH is all the proof I need. Starting from the moment when he lost the last election and there was a big surge of the terrorist activities that claimed many lives. While the nation was in mourning, this man never spoke up against the ills of BH, all he did was cry foul and insult the opposition and seek appeal. Till date, he has remained immune. Why is he running from debate? Because he has no agenda except to remove the office of the First Lady and stifle free speech of the Press. You think you’re so smart abi? By mentioning facts and figures…wait until sites like Bella Naija face law suits and shutdown for daring to criticize the government. Be careful what you wish for. The iron hand that seems to defend you may also be the hand that kills you.

To start with it is so so obvious a lot of people commenting here didn’t watch the documentary. I am against LIES. These days Nigerians can be so dumb. Can you pls do some fact checking before taking things hook, line and sinker…I watched the doc and it was filled with lies..LIES and lies…PDP now took it to a new low when they mocked his dead first wife and his sickler daughter that fought sickle cell anaemia and died at 40..God that was it for me! How in the world..Has APC ever attacked Patience Jonathan about foster children…Anyway she has never gone to the Labour room..How much know what it is to watch your 40 year old child die…Pls pls…I hate PDP campaign team…Their foolishness has brought Gen Buhari more fans and Jona is going…And pls Bella Naija commentors Goggle is your friend. ..Check for facts before saying daft things on this platform

    • Hian

      February 3, 2015 at 2:32 am

Nigerians do not fact check, they go by what people like Aye Dee and Reno Omokiri say. The same Ay Dee that was shouting sai Buhari one month ago and said he only switched over because PDP approached him and APC did not. Nigerians that are so used to being oppressed that hate speech is seen as something else. Someone here said Buhari did not condemn the BH attacks…they don’t show the news on Telemundo so how will you see it and your newspaper is Instagram, how can you read it. Nigerians are so used to mediocrity that anything different is threatening. Abeg, Nigerians are not ready for change or progress yet. Maybe after the economy is bled dry and their eyes clear to see the truth.

Why is he threatening to sue?
    Are the allegations untrue?
Or is it because there is freedom of speech and people can now talk about there things?
Please watch BBC “Hard talk interviewing with Buhari.” The interview was done around 2004, long before this election.

I guess they mentioned his family to stress that he is a bad family man and therefore cannot be a good president. True or false? I don’t know.
But they do this type of thing in developed worlds. If an individual has any kind of history, from his personal, family life or public, he/she will loose credibility and integrity, and the ability to win elections. Look at Obama, for instance. No history as far as we know!!!!

The documentaries are half-truth and half-lies, twisted very well so those that know no less would swallow it. We had an argument abt them in my office and the level of hate/bias had grown just because of the documentaries. I told them to hold on a bit and watch the documentary NAIJ – The Real Story of Nigeria by Jide Olanrewaju before making up their minds finally. Pls find and watch, its objective and unbiased and would help anyone to see the areas that are true and areas that are untrue, and the reasons why things happened the way they did, e.g. the state of the country when Buhari came into power. the documentaries being aired even attributed the Ghana-must-go saga to Buhari and I clearly know that it was Shagari, so young people don’t believe all that they want to sell you….do your research and deciide for yourself.
