Super Eagles’ stand-in Head Coach Daniel Amokachi on Tuesday said the national team would bounce back to winning ways in spite of missing out at the 2015 AFCON.

Amokachi made the pledge in Uyo shortly after the team completed training for Wednesday’s international friendly against the Ugandan national team.

He said it was unfortunate that the team missed out in the last Africa Cup of Nations held in Equatorial Guinea.

“It’s unfortunate that we didn’t make the last Nations Cup. That’s the way football is, and there is always time to regroup. We will try to lift up ourselves to fix things right. It’s a good thing that we are starting with a game during the FIFA window,’’ the former Super Eagles striker said.

Amokachi said the new Super Eagles team under his charge was made up of young players eager to do well and give Nigerians a good game.

He said the inclusion of more home-based players was justified as some of them had in the past helped the team to win trophies.

Speaking on the absence of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama at the training session, Amokachi said he had a delayed flight and was still expected to join his colleagues before the game.
