BN Celebrity Weddings: Damilola Adegbite & Chris Attoh’s Intimate Accra Wedding

A superstar surprise wedding!

On Valentine’s Day – February 14 2015, Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh joined hands and hearts in marriage at La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra, Ghana.BellaNaija 2015.chris-and-dami-attoh-wedding-photography-by-abi-ghana-nigeria (11)

The Nigerian-Ghanaian love story started when the actors spotted each other at an event. After their eyes met across the floor, the rest is history. In a 2012 interview with Genevieve Magazine, Dami said she had known Chris for 10 years.

She even predicted her dramatic proposal! She told the mag,

I want a lot of people involved. I would like a lot of people around to scream after. It would be no fun if it were just both of us. A public proposal will be nice.”

Just like she wanted, Chris popped the question on a boat cruise in Manhattan, New York City, USA.

The stars, who ended up working alongside each other on the set on MNet’s hit series, Tinsel, wanted a small wedding.

The couple, parents of a boy born last year, chose to send invites to most of their guests a few days before the special day.

Although they had an intimate celebration, many industry colleagues, friends, and of course, family joined the couple in Ghana to toast to their union, including Ovation owner Dele Momodu, Ghanaian actor Majid Michel, Tinsel co-stars Gideon Okeke and Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi.

BellaNaija Weddings wishes the talented pair a blissful life as One!

Their wedding looked like a fun and low key part-tay… you know the kind of intimate event where you actually know everyone that’s attending and can enjoy catching up with them from table to table. I really like how they made it their own and pray the years ahead are spent in unity and love.

Ah, did they beg people to invite them?? If you want to throw a big party/wedding and invite people it’s for yourself no? People kill me with this silly mentality. So accepting invitations is now equal to signing an unofficial agreement to also throw a big wedding?? It makes no sense!

It only goes to show that you dont have to display an over the top and obnoxious wedding to have a successful wedding ceremony. Kudos and congrats guys, you just demonstrated the opposite that less is more .

  30. Martin

    March 28, 2015 at 12:40 am

My only worry is that many Ghanaian men dont seem to last in marriage. I work in Ghana. They believe the children belong to the woman. And so after one or two kids they take off and leave the woman to carry “her” burden alone. But of course this is not particular to al men sha. But the frequency of breakups and single parenting is high by my standards. I pray this lasts. Amen.

I tend to agree with you Martin. Look at Chris’s brother Ken -i think -that had a baby several years ago with Shirley Frimpong Manso, he is yet to put a ring on it. But then since Chris took this plunge I believe he adores Dammy. It will last by God’s grace! I like their style, it was their wedding, their way .

  34. Joke

    March 28, 2015 at 10:45 pm

Martin, you are right Ghanaian men in Ghana are not known to be the best husbands. Single motherhood is very prevalent and even in some parts the children bear the mother’s last name and not the father’s, so it is even part of the culture and being a good looking actor just makes it even kinda worse with women throwing themselves at. Smart move, the couple know what they can afford, that’s why they did what they did. The truth is the acting field doesn’t pay much yet in Nigeria, so if you are not already from a rich family, can’t hustle in other industries or can’t sleep your way into money, then you must cut your coat according to your size. Chikena!

    • NP

      March 30, 2015 at 7:31 pm

Eish. My sister. Are you sure? Where in Ghana do children bear their mother’s last name? Please educate us oooo. Being from a matrilineal INHERITANCE system does not mean the children take their mum’s surname and the daddy takes off after a few years. Maybe you should google matrilineal system? Peace!

    • BC

      March 30, 2015 at 11:56 pm

The matrilineal system belongs to the Akans. Chris is Ga and they are not part of it.

    • Engoz

      March 30, 2015 at 8:54 pm

It must be really difficult for pea brains to understand that many people DO prefer a small, simple and intimate wedding and it has nothing to do with if they can afford it or not.

    • BC

      March 30, 2015 at 11:55 pm

      Correct.

    • HagMac

      June 12, 2015 at 11:17 am

Are you kidding me? I guess your not Ghanaian, where in Ghana do children curry their mums surnames? Not in Ghana! You are lost and confused! Men name their children in Ghana not women anyway. I am Ghanaian and we Bears our dads surnames! Even when a guy refuse a pregnancy, the women in Ghana would still register the guys last name on the child’s birth certificate, And also Ghanaian men do not go round having children with 10 different women!!! And they can be supper decent, bearing my mums last name? (Nigerians would say tofiakwa!) actually is abomination in Ghana to bear mums last name! You can find single parent everywhere around the world. Most Ghanaian actors are married to none celebrity Ghanaians and are still together after years, like Van Vicker. Chris and that Nigerian chick looks good together, I won’t spit my jealousy by saying Nigerian women are crazy and don’t last in love! Lol I wish them the best of luck!
