Daily Mail Reports Cost of Making ‘Beats by Dre’ Headphones is $14

The retail prices of the popular Beats by Dre headphones range from $200 to $700. But the actual cost of making each headset is $14, according to Daily Mail.

You will recall that the company’s founders, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine sold the company to Apple in May 2014 during a hefty deal that included approximately $400 million in stocks and $2.6 billion in cash.

They have actually. Daily “Fail” will knock everybody down. It’s nothing to do with being black.

BTW, why is anyone surprised? People are paying for the name.

Trust me, it won’t matter to those who actually want to buy the item. When it was announced that NIke shoes were made in Asian sweatshops or that Disney items are made in Haiti for next to nothing, people still continued to buy the items.

What has race got to do with this? for your information we already know how much it cost to make an iPhone. there is a documentary about the Chinese people who are forced to slave to make iPhone. google is your best friend my dear. please, lets always get our facts right. I hate it when we black always try to play the victim. it is getting really old if we keep playing this race card we will never grow because then people will find it hard to criticise us so we don’t call them racist. and Nigerians followers of all trend which Nigeria who resides in Nigeria has ever been discriminated against like seriously? but still we follow the race game. I am Nigerian and proud. the fact that they are saying it cost 14 dollars to make will not stop people from buying it. I will still buy because even though it is just 14 dollars it is still one of the best earphones. so sorry releasing the original price will not affect the sale and it belongs to apple now so any sales drop will affect apple, not dr dre.

That is the case with almost everything that people buy. It cost’s pennies to make, but they charge a nice hefty sum.

exactly my dear, someone asked yesterday, why are swimsuits so expensive at and my only conclusion is branding. How do you justify a strip of material that you got after making cloths to amount to maybe 6k and d victoria secret type to 11k. seriously guys how does anyone justify that if not branding.

it might cost $14 to make it, but what about other investment that goes into marketing, Quality Control, the design itself before production and all the other nitty gritty, I am actually happy to see that the comments under this article here on BN has been somewhat positive, it shows people are well informed.

Anyways, at the end of the day, it costs more to get it to the client’s hand, so daily mail can go eff. themselves. That is why designer goods cost more….the material quality, the promised lifespan, the attention to detail, the entire value proposition….

Isn’t it? They should find out why these multinational corporations make most of their products in developing countries. It is cheaper for them to make it overseas because they are free to take advantage of and exploit workers. Let them try it in their own backyards. Pay them less, charge consumers heavily. Quality control my behind.

People just like to come up with trash talk. Does that even cover labour cost alone, without considering materials, design, finishing, packaging and so on. Please. They hating ‘cos he’s black and cashing big (maybe not, but it’s easier to blame everything on being black :))
Not saying the cost of production isn’t potentially 100z% less than the sales price, but to claim it’s $14 is rather extreme and malicious.
BN too now ended with wow, lol.

Im not surprised tho. its all about name and hype around a product. what is so special about versace jeans that cost as much as 2000 dollars?
its the same way they make regular jeans that costs 3 dollars they make versace jeans that cost 2000 dollars.
versace jeans and other expensive designer jeans are all made it china, they just slap their logo on it and they increase the price to the fullest. people who are designer crazy like chika ike and co. will rush it like pure water little will they know what they are buying over priced rubbish that was made in china by a factory worker.
same thing goes for this headphones.

That’s why we sell the same thing for N3500 all over our market. Some people might say they are copies but we know better.

I will explain what Daily mail would not, it would cost you only $8 dollars to manufacture a Ralph Lauren Polo in China, Ten dollars in Peru and it cost Lacoste $12 to manufacture the most sophisticated of their polos, but its sold for over 100 dollars and at worse 30Dollars during sale. .

To make a polo for 8 dollars each you have to make an order of a million pieces. You heard right, it’s has to be one million pieces.

How do you sell a million polos without an extensive worldwide advert which runs into millions. If you are trending you can sell out if not see you on sales day .

Same goes for tech goods, if you go big you get big the bigger the budget the more the ads and cheaper you get your products.

If you wanted only one of the products it would be the same or more than the retail price, that’s how it’s done

    You are welcome
