Uh Oh! Davido’s Kenyan Fans Express Their Frustration via Social Media Memes

DavidoOver the weekend Davido faced backlash from fans for leaving Nigeria to perform at a show in Kenya (click here if you missed it) and it looks like his Kenyan fans are not too pleased with him either.

A few hours ago Davido, via his Instagram page, gave his Kenyan fans a shout out for showing him ‘real love’ but using Instagram and Twitter, a lot of Kenyans have expressed their dissatisfaction with Davido’s performance.

A Twitter user (@MwangalaG) gives an account of his disappointing night:

Davido has since been the inspiration for a lot of memes on social media but so far there has been no word from his management team in response to his Kenyan fans.

ITs no longer news but like I said on his instagram page, He better wakes up and early too cos if its too late, he will only wake up to find out that the fame he thought he worked so hard for is FAR GONE. I don’t know what’s wrong with these “FAME MISS ROAD’ children.

na wa oooo, na only this George guy waka come? All these plenty tweets. Well, Davido, you have heard d complaints of those who “bought” tickets for your concert. If i were you, i would have another concert there free for your former audience as compensation. I believe so much in Customer retention.

This was exactly the same stunt he pulled in Paris last year, 40mins concert and was even repeating songs, i heard he went to the club and started smoking weed inside. some of this nigerian artist just don’t care nor respect their fans. Ice prince showed up at his concert at 5am and still didn’t perform ( concert was supposed to start at 10pm) while his fans were patiently waiting he was in his hotel room f-ing prostitutes. and we never got refunded cause he was already paid

they are terrible they all came here to smoke, drink and sleep with our girls Davido was high the light skin one same thing and the other one on stage even his dj was drunk. they went to skyluxx looking for girls to sleep with even David’s manager and brother all of them left with girls after some of their phones were stolen really sad my advice David fire the boys fire the dj go for voice training and learn to behave in public

But only one person’s opinion was captured from Twitter.
Artists need to realize fans pay for their shows. These people are not half as rich as you most times but they still pay you. Respect their money at least.

    March 30, 2015 at 12:52 pm

His fans said he’s too childish and all what not.
What do you guys expect? Is he not a child/teenager ? so he is behaving his age.So sorry for people that waste their hard earned money to go watch their shows making them a lot more richer.
I think the so called fans should save their money and use it more meaningfully pls.

Serves these people right. They should learn to perform properly. Not miming and collecting huge amounts of money. Performance requires practise and is hard work. Nigerian musicians think it’s easy money and don’t put in enough work.

Davido is always drunk or high, dude can’t perform without being intoxicated. Sad.
He should work on his coarse voice too, sounds terrible on stage.

    March 30, 2015 at 1:24 pm

Those Kenyans went in really hard. Me like. And i love the way they demanded ACCOUNTABILITY.
Guys, instead of worshipping these touts, hold them ACCOUNTABLE when u spend your hard-earning money on them. Don’t let them play with your money like that. Poor performance, GIMME BACK MY CASH!
Stop giving them a reason to enrich themselves at your expense. Only for them to turn around and insult u on Social Media showing off their (your) money while calling u “broke haters”.

I can single handley say Davido and his crew his artists his manager and even his lousy DJ were all drunk my friends from school left with some of them David’s brother dj and two other Artist while David left with a poplar Kenyan fast girl rather than perfect their skill they come for the drinks the weed and the women .. Our own DJs were better we did not need Davido and his talentless crew and useless Dj they were too lousy

Was it not just a week ago that his shameful freestyle on Tim Westhood hit the net? When Nigerian show organizers in US complained of artistes charging high and under-performing, I didn’t need a soothsayer to put Davido on top of the list. That’s what happens when you practically buy a career

  20. Naveah

    March 30, 2015 at 4:37 pm

This is a rich boy that used his father’s money to buy his way into the industry. The brat is used to getting everything he wants when he wants it with little to no resistance so why are people surprised that this happened? He is not a true artist, a true creative being. He is not someone who takes his career seriously because unlike the likes of Tuface, he didn’t have to fight and claw his way up from rags to riches. When you haven’t had to EARN something, you will be careless with it and this is what is happening with this kid. He is used to being handed things on a platinum platter so why would he take anything seriously? This music business is not what is sustaining him, whether sells his music, perform or not, he will always be alright because Daddy will be there to catch him before he falls. Make una no worry about am, abeg he will be just fine. The only issue is that there is a kid more talented than him in Mushin who has not had this opportunity handed to him but this fool is wasting it.

I guess he hasn’t heard that “To Whom Much Is Given Much Is Expected.” I hope some person with a reasonable mind and influence over him will pull his coat tail and tell him to get his act together.

      March 31, 2015 at 12:04 am

Oh shut up, what does the fact that his father worked hard have to do with his career choices? where was YOUR father when his was busy hustling to make money? Impregnating your mother abi? Please, if you want to hate davido, do so, but don’t bring his family into it. Wizkid and other celebrities, even international ones, have done things similar to this, he is not the first and will not be the last.

Oya, davido, wake up o. You might think you’re at the top of the world but you’re really not. In that same lagos that you bought that mansion there are a million others who are just as talented or even more so than you, so, please, don’t waste the favor that has been granted you. Amen!

      March 31, 2015 at 3:47 pm

I GOTTA GET MY RIBS CHECKED THAT IS HOW HARD I LAUGHED AT YOUR RESPONSE. How incredibly mature of you to start of a discussion with “shut up”….does that not negate the point of having a discussion which is a two way conversation or were you interested in just delivering a soliloquy….INSERT SARCASM. My friend, reading AND comprehension MUST go together like a hand and glove, shebi you know that? I don’t have the energy to go into why I brought up his father’s wealth, it was quite clear but your behind is too far up home boy’s behind for you to hear me loud and clear. It’s okay, everything is not for everyone, my pickin.

The fact remains that at the end of your rant, you managed to pull your head out of his butt long enough to support what I said which is he needs to get his act together. Nothing else you said before that mean anything to me.

Errmm Davido’s new babylet aka NY girlfriend – I hope you’re seeing and hearing all this. Your babyboo is still out doing other things while on the road. Please, you’re too young and beautiful and most importantly with a lot of greatness ahead of you. Please, pretty please don’t let this boy ruin your future. Focus on your studies babydoll! XX

Bellanaija this is highly irresponsible and unfair of you guys, you post multiple postings of ONE guy and you write a whole post that says the WHOLE of Kenya hated his concert. I know you guys as ‘journalists’ have a duty to bring hot gist to your audience but haba! you guys should fear God. Try and be objective, biko!.
I know as usual Bellanija MO u guys don’t post constructive criticism, but I know you guys will read it sha. God Bless.

nigerian performers should learn from foreign counterparts. don’t perform on stage like you’re performing in the ghetto…we pay for your performance for f- sake. the only artists i can pay to watch on stage are m.i, bez, and flavour.

    • Tosin

      March 31, 2015 at 8:29 am

nothing against Davido, but BEZ is a freakin’ perfectionist. Watching Bez live is a gift you want to give yourself.

    • naveah

      March 31, 2015 at 3:49 pm

YES! He shows up on time, he plays live and sings using his own voice and not some autotune nonsense. He delivers each and every time! The man respects and appreciates his fan. Music is his vocation. Davido music is just something to do to while away the time so why would he care how he comes across.

  27. Na We We

    March 30, 2015 at 9:26 pm

Perhaps fans should start to learn the difference between studio gangsters and live performers. Some people are awesome in the studio but terrible in live performance. There are several professional artists out there that would do their job and give an awesome performance. It’s those artists that should be booked, but this music game is about what’s hot and who’s the popular one out there. Hopefully, OBO will learn from this and clean up his act.

  30. Seriously

    March 31, 2015 at 4:07 am

It’s already bad enough that nigerian artists can’t sing and their lyrics are meaningless. We just go for the beats. The best u can do is, sing along like other people to your own song. If you can’t do that, then you really Fawked up Mehn. Nigerian artists have no respect for their fans, they actually think they are doing them a favor.s. Arrogant bastards and low class. I’ve never wasted my money on any of these artists. Youtube is enough for me

  31. Fenella

    March 31, 2015 at 7:02 am

Thank God Ugandans saw through him and his show flopped. Then he took his frustration to a club and beat up a DJ coz he played Diamond’s Original Number one and not their remix. Anyway atleast he made amends by collaborating with one upcoming artist.

    March 31, 2015 at 12:36 pm

#theTrend (the show that hosted Davido) has played host to a long list of Davido’s compatriots and highly respected super stars such as Rita Dominic, Basket Mouth, Omawumi, Yemi Alade, Flavour and IK and none left a bad taste in the mouth like the 22-year-old did.

Remember he was in my Uni a few years ago just before he blew up and he got into a scandal with some girl he left with after his show. she took nudes of herself with him in bed. U would think he will learn but two years down the line and its the same old story.. drinks, weed and women.
Many ppl are dying for the opportunity he has, the choices we make now will affect the future. 10 years frm now we may even forget who he is, he needs to be focused to last.
Davido swedy, pls get ur sh*t together..
the way u going, God only knows how reckless u going to be the time u are 30..
