Chimamanda Adichie is Pregnant!

Chimamanda Adichie is pregnant!

The author has been spotted around Lagos with her ‘baby bump’, (she was recently in town for the Farafina workshop). Attendees report seeing the award winning novelist with tell-tale signs of pregnancy.

This will be the first child for Chimamanda, married to Dr. Ivara Esegee.

Here’s a photo of Chimamanda at the Farafina Trust Literary evening.

Congrats to the parents-to-be!

She’s warned people not to call her Mrs Esegee. Her name’s Chimamanda Adichie. If you feel compelled to call her with a title, call her Ms. Chimamanda Adichie [not Mrs]

She is deluded and overfed with this feminist rubbish.
What will she do? Sue those who call her Mrs.?

      July 8, 2015 at 10:48 am

She for no Marry and remain a Miss.

      According to the dictionary,
Miss is a form of address for an unmarried woman
Ms a form of address for a woman
Mrs a form of address for a married woman.

Is she married? Yes. Then she is a Mrs

Either she takes the Mrs, “unmarry”, write her own dictionary or go and die!

@BN Chopping shit (the names I’ve had to type out on this blog, though…)

Why would you tell anyone to go and die? Is that a state of being that you are already preparing for, yourself? Are you trying to make sure that you don’t go on that journey unaccompanied? I’m amazed at the amount of evilness that can reduce your intentions for another person (who is completely unaware of your own existence, by the way) to that diabolic sentence. Would you like her to die with her unborn child? This death that you’re keen to see her approach, do you also have a timeframe for it in that you’ve planned for?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm…. Brother or sister, wait a moment, as my prayer mode gets activated right here and now. The evil that many wish upon us, Father in Heaven, let it reach them and their households first and with accelerated speed. As many of us that may be going about our daily business, not realising that our actions are spurring hatred and wickedness to boil out of the hearts and lips of those looking upon us and hoping for our demise… Ah. Lord, please strengthen a Shield, a Wall of Protection that will cause every wicked prayer to bounce RIGHT BACK TO THEIR SENDERS. If they come against us in one way, Father!! Scatter them in a thousand ways!!! Any evil word spoken in their hearts about us. let it eat them first like cancer and die in them, in Jesus’ Name!!!!! The one that wishes us death, let them celebrate that thing they wish us, in their own homes and families, in Jesus’ Name!!!!!! As many that believe it will not be well with us, let our successes continue to astound and mystify them, in Jesus’ Name. And may the Blood of Jesus speak for Chimamanda Adichie and her unborn child, she will bring forth in life and good health, she will not bring forth for sorrow and may the life of this child bring You Glory and even increase her own life in new ways. Thank You Lord as we live in expectation of Your Goodness, despite the wicked thoughts of those who dwell in shadows. For all this and more, we are grateful. Amen.

Die how? God is BIGGER than your puny, black, nasty heart.

@BN chopping shit, you are incredibly stupid. In the same post, you wrote “Ms, a form of address for a woman”. So what exactly are you mad about? Is she not a woman–married or not? You keep trying to come across as smart when you are in fact daft. So daft that you can’t fully comprehend your comments.

Socially awkward, After Idoma girl, you are the next most daft lady on this site.

Your parents wasted money sending you to school. You are a total disgrace. Tell me, how did you pass and graduate from school?

You mean you cant comprehend what “go and die” means in that context? You are a disgrace to your school, that is if you went to any.

So you typed all that cos of your lack of comprehension?

For all you said there, it is for you, your family and generations unborn
You prayed sef, he no work. is it your curse that will now work?

You are really socially awkward. Your name says it all.
      Go see a neurologist

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      July 8, 2015 at 4:44 pm

Shatttap, my friend! And call the name with comprehension – it’s “MZ Socially Awkward”. As the MS/MZ wey people dey use don begin do you strong thing…. Mtchewwwwwwwwww.

Are my prayers working yet? You sound aggrieved… And they shall surely latch on, boo boo. Winding your dirty mouth on top of somebody else’s life and decisions. Listen to me again – they shall surely latch on. For as long as your soul is bitter, dark and evil, those prayers shall surely latch on. Instead of asking about what happened to my school fees (I can only laugh…. silly rabbit), do us all a massive favour and continue perching in your little hutch by that distant corner while great women continue slamming your head upside down and sideways with the achievements which make you seethe.

Those prayers have certainly found their mark, honey bun. My soul is a happy and satisfied place, nothing quite like the pit of envy, dissatisfaction (like anyone stopped you from doing more with your own life, this one that you’ve been hopping from one foot to the other concerning Chimamanda’s matter), bile, unhappiness, nastiness, malevolence (are my words getting too big/complicated for you, booboo? Should I stop?) and all things foul that you clearly cart around, judging from the filth your obnoxious fingers have spilled all over this page and concerning the woman in the above post. So… no, your prayers can’t pierce through booboo. I’m entirely COVERED from your toxic spewing. You just focus on finding your own way from the darkness to light, before it’s too late.

Just out of interest, since you said it in context, why don’t you address your mother or father “in context” and ask them to go and die? Or, no wait. Your child, why don’t you say it to the children you birthed – ask them to do something, and if they don’t, ask them to go and die??? Hmnmmmm, yes, I see your context from the position of my “yimu”…. very malignant rodent that you are.

Akeem, in this day and age, we should all be feminists. The idea, as portrayed eloquently by Adichie is that we should support the female folk in this world where every thing and everyone seem to work against them. BTW, if you have a female child or related to one, you will better understand.

    • Akeem

      July 8, 2015 at 8:41 pm

You don’t have to be a feminist to be supported in our society though the concept is very okay but not eloquently portrayed by MR Chimamanda has you stated, Insecure women hide under the canopy of feminism just because they want to always have their ways and not be submissive to their husbands, you don’t have to worry about gender equality if your are surrounded by responsible men

    • I love you akeem

and what is a humanist? Do you believe that girls/women should be educated? Do you believe that you should the same as a guy on the same level as you? do you believe that you should be free to be a house wife or a career woman if that’s what you want? Do you believe that you can marry the man of your choice? If your answer is yes to any or all these questions, congratulations! You are a feminist.

How do you know she “entered” her husbands house? What if they BOTH went looking for a home and BOTH their names are on the title? so whose house is it then? Since according to your thinking the house must belong to someone. Please step out of the stone age.

Your critical analytic skills are lacking. What does being a feminist have to do with getting married and having children or about submission? Fighting for equality for women, so that they have access to education, decent health care, self-autonomy, etc prevents one from determining how to build her home without societal imposition?

Women and men are equal, just as black and white are equal. But why should I spend my time explaining this to you. You are a product of an environment that preaches intolerance for difference, and pastors are used by individuals not only to determine their moral compass but to provide an intellectual stimulus for how they see and understand their world.

That’s is not what feminism is about. Feminism is having men and women understand that we are equals at the least. Feminism is having her husband take care of this baby when it arrives – changing diapers, waking up at night, having to miss events to take of the baby, that the kids to school, make lunch and dinner etc – these are things some of our Nigerian men will never do.

    • Nneka

Why does the TRUTH that men and women are equal bother some of you so much?? Why is this precious masculinity of your hingent on women being put down; that show you that it isn’t real or else it would stand on its own feet. Because feminism means a child-free life abi???? Stupid idiots who won’t take the time to read or listen! Women on this side of the world do need to take feminism seriously and wield it nonapologetically because of imbeciles like you! And the other idiot talking about submission, who said that’s the only way for marriage to work? They are two thinking adults who love each other; treating each other as equals seems to work for them, why are you so worried? I swear, as I get older Nigerian mean become less and less attractive because of their mindsets and we women need to do better stop letting even the little offensive things slide, we have to teach these idiots that we expect nothing less!

    • God'sBae

      July 8, 2015 at 9:59 am

Idiots like your father, brothers and sons that were raised and are being raised by you, your mother and your sisters. Which invariably makes you the biggest idiot and all other women who would write such because the society is not made of men alone. It’s made of both sexes who had equal stake in raising kids. Make your point without being agressive and uncouth. Actual feminists don’t announce and babble up and down the place. Their actions alone make men list and acknowledge them as equals. They don’t need to get in a boxing ring for it.

Now I would like to state few things. feminism is a social movement and should be left and limited to that! A relationship is defined as the two people or sometimes more(polyamory) want it to be. Feminism has no place in how a relationship works or should be. If the man wants to lick the woman’s feet, so be it, I don’t think people ask if you don’t tell. Same goes for the woman, if she want to die on top the man, I don’t think anyone cares! Your values, your beliefs, your relationship! Yes! They are men who help their wives out, that doesn’t make them feminists and they are men who don’t, that does not mean they are not feminists. It’s just their character. Feminism should be limited to equal pay, fundamental human rights etc, but it should be a no go area when it comes to relationship and how they should be.Feminists should also understand something, men are not the issue! The society made up of both sexes are. Like I said in a post sometime ago, feminists still have a damn long way to go, because in as much as some women are trying to use their brains and make something out of life, there are the same amount if women who survive and thrive on how the society is and make it by using their sexuality as a tool. It’s not a stereotype, it’s truth. That’s why even when a woman is hardworking and her hardwork is paying off, some tiny voice might still be saying in other people’s head “hmmmmmm, this girl might not be pure ooo””, why? Because some girls are actually not pure. So awon feminists, start with your fellow women first and men would fall in line.

That aside, Ms Adichie is super talented, very beautiful and super blessed. She should keep the novels rolling in,which are nothing short of epic everytime. As for her speeches and interviews et al,they are just her opinion, some of which I agree with and some of which I don’t. I have my opinion already. That being said, she should keep on talking as she’s very encouraging and empowering and a lot if young girls need that today. As for the bump, I’ll say congrats when the bundle arrives.

@GodsBae – how can you write such insults and then follow up with ‘. Make your point without being agressive and uncouth. ‘ You REALLY should take your own advice! I didn’t even bother to read your essay because the first contradiction threw me off! kmt

Cooor!!! Being a feminist isn’t mutually exclusive from having a family y’know! And, why must it be the woman that “submits” why can’t the man summit?; betterstill, why can’t both parties submit to their relationship?

      Y’all don’t get it.

If you want to get someone to stand up from a seat, how do you do that?
Assuming your bf/husband has been sitting there for ages and you want to get him to stand up, in order for you to have equal access & right to the chair, how do you do that?

      The PROCESS of getting him stand up for you to sit is what many are condemning. Women are going about it in a forceful, brutal and ridiculous manner;
      *Shoot him
      *Break bottle on his head
      *Stab him
      *Bite/Cut off his manhood
*Sleep around to PROVE what a man can do, a woman can do better
*Walk away from d relationship on top flimsy excuses
      *Pour acid on him
      *Demand for divorce
*Leave the children at home and go partying
      *No nonsense
      *Ridicule him
      *Abuse and curse him
      *Gang up against him
      *Write books, journals against him
*Start dating a fellow girl to PROVE to him he is not needed…….

Is that how to go about it?

Why do we have acclaimed muslims who are BOKOHARAMS and ISIS? Because they have been taught and brainwashed by a school of thought. The Feminist thought and ideologies also will discourage a lady from getting married, staying married and even considering getting pregnant.

You mean she will get pregnant?
Thought her feminist stand will not allow her get married, stay married and even get pregnant or go through pregnancy stages.

Wow! All BNers have been chopping shit. Teaching them fallacies that will discourage them from getting married, staying married and even considering getting pregnant.

If she was doing all she says, am sure she wouldn’t be married, stay married or even get pregnant

To fellow feminist on BN, just allow someone push you into Lagos lagoon and turn their back on you when you are gone okay?

Idoma girl, i can confidently tell you that you are the most daft person on BN. You cant construct anything knowledgeable or argue your points. Saw your comment on another article just shook my head for you. You can only contribute to gossip and abuse people.

Your life must be really miserable. Thank God some other girls even have beauty without brains. Your own is a disaster on both levels.

Feminist: : the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. Those of you going to town with theories of what this political ideology really means need to pick up a book and educate yourself. Why are you allowing Saran to play with the intelligent brain God has so generously blessed you with? You have Internet to post erroneous statements about the meaning of a term but you cannot use google to find out the meaning? May you never fail in this life for being so chronically stupid.

I choose to look at it this way, despite all the discouraging comments from insecure men on her ideologies on feminism she met a man who understands her, respects her and makes her happy enough to conceive. It gives me hope that there are fine, progressive men out there. No female worth her salt needs to settle for an insecure male who would stifle her in anyway. Be the best you can be, have a great attitude about your success, determine your values in life and stick to it and the right man will come. Don’t be sucked into the fear mongering that feminists remain single. Even if you’re single at 40′ truth is you’re better off single and happy than married to the likes of Chief 🙂
If you’re scared of singleness, you’re not matured enough to be married anyway. Watch Myles Monroe’s sermon the myth of singleness on YouTube

If being a feminist is such a man hating witch hunt as you guys try to make it seem, I’m quite certain her husband would not have stayed with her but yet there they are about to have a beautiful blessing while y’all are here sending out torrents of negativity that’s only gonna come back to you. Smh so sad..

It really saddens me at the hate that Feminism and Chimamanda is getting. Even from women.. Smh… I ashamed to say i come from such a culture. One thing is apparent, ignorance or people not wanting to change their opressing way of life.
Why is it so much concern to some of yall that she decides to keep her fullname??
And where in the world did not having children become what feminism is about? As i said, IGNORANCE!! Is real
Amd why does it bother you guys so much that men and women are striving for equality?? Dat infact some women refuse to be treated as a second class citizen of the world??

I am happy though that at least some few people in this post are not as and are in fact progessive

@BN Chopping, I can see envy & Jealousy conspicuously growing in ur eyes. Perhaps u’v envisaged the future & discovered d fact u’d by no manner of means attain d height our renowned Chimamada has attained so far. Little wonder y u vomited such heinous word against her. If ur wish comes true, wud u b my role model.? Pls, let our Chimamada b; whether Mrs or nt, she’s already got a sound understanding of her marital status & doesn’t in 1 bit crave for ur service of reminding her as u’v purported. She’s jst her real self…. She’s chosen to be distinguished……. Jst 4rm m, d Distinguished Lass 4 real
