The African Connection! Lupita Nyong’o to Star in Zimbabwean Actress, Danai Gurira’s Broadway Play – ‘Eclipsed’
Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong‘o is set to make her debut in New York in an Off-Broadway production created by Walking Dead star, Zimbabwean actress, Danai Gurira.
The play, titled ‘Eclipsed‘, is a 2009 production written by Danai set during the Liberian Civil War between 1989 – 1996. The story centers around a group of women, wives of rebel officers, who are being held captive. Lupita will play a new woman who enters the group and then triggers a chain of events upon her arrival.
Production of this movie officially starts on 29th September 2015, and the play will officially open on the 14th of October at The Public Theater’s downtown venue.
