Hajj Stampede: Death Toll of Nigerians Rises Above 50

The death toll of Nigerians from the Saudi Arabia Hajj stampede has risen to over 50.

Various news sources are reporting varying figures, however; all information indicates that the current death toll is at least 50 .

For instance, BBC reports that 54 Nigerians are confirmed dead. Leadership states that 64 are dead and 71 sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Reports state that the chairman of Nigeria’s National Hajj Commission, Abdullahi Mukhtar confirmed the numbers but said some pilgrims were missing, meaning the final death toll could rise.
