BREAKING: Diezani Alison-Madueke Reportedly Arrested in London

Published

 on

Diezani

Premium Times is reporting that former  Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was on Friday arrested in London.

According to the report:

She was arrested Friday morning alongside four other people by the British law enforcement agency.

The identities of the four other people arrested along with her could not be immediately ascertained.

Premium Times learnt she was arrested for offences related to bribery and corruption being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.

Two top British officials in London have however confirmed the development to this newspaper. They requested not to be named because they have no permission to speak on the issue.

The British High Commission in Nigeria confirmed that some arrests were made Friday but declined to disclose the identities of those involved.

Joseph Abuku, Press and Public Affairs Officer, said, “This morning, five people between the ages of 21 and 60 were arrested on suspicion of bribery and corruption offences. The crimes are being investigated by the National Crime Agency.

“The National Crime Agency does not confirm identity at arrest nor provide information that could be used to corroborate the identity of an arrested individual.”

The way my face lighted up after reading the heading, you would have thought i received a great surprise package.

I guess Diezani is no more dining of terminal sickness. Slow but steady, the law and Karma will catch up with all the corrupt politicians (e.g Saraki, Diezani) who have been ruining our country – Nigeria. Thereby delaying my final move from the U.S back to Nigeria. Thieves!

That Deziani is arrested is fine if for corruption allegations.

      But that
      1. Amaechi the man who couldn’t even hand over, stole even stools in govt kitchen with his cronies,
      2. Lai Muhammed the man who teaches satan to lie ,
3.Fashola-400 million per pedestrian bridge ,
      4.Fayemi -50 million naira bed
Audu Ogbe these names are awaiting screening to be crowned ministers is corruption upon corruption unbridled!!!!

Suddenly Obj ,IBB,Atiku,Tinubu are saints, Halliburton &Siemens saga and other inventors of corruption and their ministers are free as the air???? Haba Buhari sparing corrupt people isnt coruuptionnnnn ??????even when your wife was mentioned in Halliburton?????

I am not a fan of Deziani but will air my opinion on selective embarrassment!

I actually pity this woman. That Ministry is the devils workshop. Whoever is Minister of Petroleum in Nigeria can never win. Too many people’s daily bread is tied to that Ministry. All manner of portfolio wielding contractors without any traceable office address. What with the Northern cabal that felt short changed by her heading that Ministry. Head or tail, this woman can never win.

If she is culpable, she should do her time. But why are we starting from London when we have more than enough thieves here to occupy the EFCC? Oh, l see everybody is watching Oga’s body language. When Oga travels to America with Amaechi in his entourage, pls. who is going to arrest Amaechi? When Tifnubu is the “big friend” of the President, who will arrest him?. Is it Fashola? Anybody who steals deserve jail term but selective persecution is anathema to the Law of natural justice

Let the trials begin. It should be interestingto hear people sing. Buhari, should not be too comfortable o. The gist is that Diezani contributed to his campaign.

I am quite sad about this actually. People are always fighting for women to hold a significant position in power but this woman really disappointed and made the struggle even harder. It’s really sad! She was in such a powerful, very powerful position. Very sad

Bimpe, are the men serving since day one innocent. There are good and bad women, just as men.

BTW, in the midst of everything happening in Nigeria, people like me are simply asking for justice and fairness.
What is good for one. is good for all.
I don’t belong to any political party but I find myself defending GEJ, because of the way he was pushed out of office. It has never happened in our democratic history.
He did not just loose the election but was pushed out of office and that was very unfair.
People should be allowed to loose elections naturally.
These days no one says a word when Boko Haram attacks.

Fairness is the key, folks. My opinion and am entitled to it.

Buhari and Elrufai uses EFCC to initiate Dezianis arrest in UK! Elrufai well important to buhari than osibajo!
Arrest her and arrest the entire Northern oil block owners who ownes 80 % of Nigeria oil well, Atiku, Theophilus etc.

Arrest Deziani but also arrest Rilwan Lukmon’s family. Arrest the whole chain in petroleum sector, mid stream, downstream, all the huslers your inlaws or not.

Deziani is not Buhari’s distant cousine like Amina Zakari so she should be butchered? Errrm Deziani will return unhurt simply because Elrufai is free, OBJ is free, Atiku is free, Tinubu is free, Amaechi is free, Fayemi is free, Theophilus Danjuma is free, Fashola is free,Sanusi is free, Rochas is free, George Akume is free, EFCC Chiarman Lamorde is free therefore arrest 1 arrest all! Otherwise spare one spare all!!!! None is superior to another.

The fight against corruption is for all Nigerians, stop fighting southern PDP, look down your nose and it’s the right person to fight!
Start with your family, start with your self, corruption is appointing lopsidedly, corruption gave birth to 97% vs 5% with the best in your favour in same country, corruption is accepting to be bank rolled with stolen monies during your election,, it is over promising during election and disassociating yourself with such promises thereby deceiving gullible people. Buhari if you read this, I do not hate you nor wish you tragedy, but to point out that you are a very self centered person who love power like housefly on rotten meat, you where ready to soak dog and baboon in blood to rule a second time?????

Forget this your yarn. She was not arrested in Nigeria, neither by Nigerian authorities-EFCC,ICPC or the NPF. She was arrested by British authorities, on British soil. So calling Tinubu & Obasanjo’s name in this matter, makes no sense.

I am not into the APC/PDP saga. I’m not even in the country so I could care less about who gets indicted or arrested for corruption.

All i want is that ALL the corrupt politicians be brought before the Law, so that Nigeria can be better. But if this continues, people like me who really wants to move back home – Can’t. Because I know theres no future for my children. It really scares me.

Only if all Nigerians can just do away with the political party bias and only go for who gets the Job done. Then Nigeria will be a better place for us and our generation.

Yes agreed she is not the only one but we MUST start somewhere. Enough of people thinking they can rob the country blind and get away scot-free. See the likes of Ibori buying £2.2 million flats in London – enough money to change the lives of millions of Nigerians.

With Deziani now arrested, we’re glad to see the prospect of retribution and possible return of stolen billions but in the same spirit, we’re also wondering if and when the other criminals-in-agbada will get similarly hauled in because those slimy bastards still owe us lots and lots of misappropriated Naira…..

Amen. My own prayers are a whole lot more severe – as Abacha’s cup became full one day and he was struck down without warning, may that same fate visit every single cabal of power set up in Nigeria, which greedily holds on to the wealth of the land. May all that you’ve stolen become a cancer that will destroy you completely in no distant time and may the “renowned” name you’ve set up on the misery, pain & suffering of great masses become associated with shame and desolation even in generations to come..

That’s simply the very least I can ask for, so let the guilty and their families continue living each day in false security before their overdue calamity strikes them…

What is the maximum punishment for financial crime, corruption and fraud in Nigeria sef?

Ngwa! Os! Quick, quick!! Everybody go and read Chinua Achebe’s A MAN OF THE PEOPLE. Then, after that, go and read Chimamanda Adichie’s AMERICANAH.
Achebe refused to be “honored” by the GEJ regime. I was so proud of him, not to follow the herd. How I wish he were still alive to see the beginning of what might truly be a new Nigeria.. As for Adichie, she speaks poignantly about the CHOICELESSNESS foisted on us by greed and corruption. Who defends these crooks??? Does it matter if they come from your ethnicity or not? In the old days didn’t our communities punish theft?. Look at us, dying trekking the Sahara from Burkina Faso trying to get to North Africa, trying to cross the Mediterranean, then drowning. We are mired in 419 and all manner of scams trying to ape the lavish lifestyles of those who steal from us. We are kidnappers, extorting money from families. We are armed robbers, we are ritualists…What else needs to be visited on us before??????????

This is a great start. It’s time to start standing up to all this corruption. The fact that elective officials made it so easy for people to loot the country’s money is abominable. What’s even more of a disgrace is that these people and their children blatently flaunted their ill gotten wealth in front of a nation of people who could even afford basic things. I’m looking at you governor Ibadan, you have the audacity to spend a hundred thousand dollars of your state’s money on a wedding gown for your daughter while most of your workers have not been paid for months. Nigerians are so corrupt. Look at the bias laden comments. Mostly from unemployed “graduates” who do not realize that whether Tinubu or Madueke…the arrest of any corrupt Nigerian is a step forward. Nenne you are crying about tribalism, how have any of these people helped you? Your governors? Your tribesmen in power? You are here shouting Buhari should arrest his own brothers. Then when a region is left unattended, you cry that you are marginalized. These people stole the money that could have built us 10 Niger bridges, cleaned up the PH-Aba road and other Federal roads killing people in the East and South South. Don’t like tribal sentiment rob us blind please, it is killing us already.
Who said GEJ was unfairly pushed out? SERIOUSLY??? I tire for some of you honestly.

    • TheRealist

      October 4, 2015 at 3:15 am

Actually, this “unemployed graduate” thinks that the arrest of only SELECTED corrupt (and I am even joining you in dispensing with the presumption of innocence) is a step BACKWARD – because it merely comes across as persecution (rather prosecution) and gravely undermines the struggle against corruption. By way of analogy that you might be able to understand, while giving even just a handful of “unemployed graduates” jobs might be a step forward it becomes a retrogressive step if all such lucky graduates are from one party, one state, one region or one religion. If we “unemployed graduates” actually desire (and deserve) a better future we have to push for real justice – the kind that’s not only being done but that is being SEEN by all and sundry as being done. Otherwise, we deserve the corrupt (and not just in material but in values) leadership class that we presently have.

    • Missme

      October 6, 2015 at 5:58 am

I have to agree. One arrest means nothing if we know that Buhari dines with the very people that are the founders of corruption. We know he is not going to go after obj, tinubu, fashola, ibb, atiku, el-rufai, amechi and the rest because they are his allies so what is the point really when the very people we need to arrest are covered under the protection of the president. If we really want to mobe forward then we need to bring EVERY SINGLE PERSON to justice regardless of who they are and who they know. Until then this is just a fluke and i wouldnt get too excited
