A couple of weeks ago ex-beauty queen Dabota Lawson was called out by a blogger about her dark knuckles (click here) and even though Dabota responded graciously via Instagram, she has now turned that episode into a business opportunity.

The billionaire wife has shared a testimonial stating how she has made her dark knuckles lighter using her botanical lightening creams.

She released a statement saying:

“It’s been 6 weeks now since the Brouhaha that surrounded  my dark knuckles and whilst I was not happy about it like every other business owner I went into defense mode to protect my business image as it was barely a month since I had come out with a safe botanical lightening formula (Dabota Lighten) . I did take time to look at the situation in my private moment and thought to myself this is not a good look for a cosmetic entrepreneur and it time for me to make sure my skin care product is effective and safe. Now to cut the long story short, daily moisturizing(heavily at night)  with Dabota Lighten + exfoliating  3 times a week with a Homemade mix of sea salt + lemon has gradually done the trick. 6 week is a long time but it’s best to gradually with a safe botanical based product do it with a quick fix method. Oh yes that my beautiful hand with my little growth at the side that I’m not ashamed of. Dabota Lighten really does work.”

I am not trying to throw shade or anything, I am asking an honest question. I don’t know this babe, saw her for the first time on BN when BN featured her wedding. Was she a beauty queen? Which beauty pageant was she part of? All I seem to know of her is that she is Dabota, billionaire’s wife o!

I think for joints, it’s okay. Ankles, knees, elbows, knuckles and toes. I will also add the skin above the heels that go black for some people due to hard leather shoes. It’s dead skin that isn’t needed and should slough off. However, I have not heard anyone say collagen is needed to keep those areas clean after sloughing off. Dabota, over to you. Add it to your regime. Ta.

Its 2015 and after all the health and beauty warnings that come with changing ones skin colour I still can’t believe anyone in their right state of mind will think that there is a “healthy” way of changing ones skin colour.

There is NO such thing as a healthy way. You expose yourself to skin cancer. God forbid if you are involved in an accident when you’ve toned your skin, ask any doctor and they will tell you that piecing that type of skin together is such a challenge. Not to talk of the offensive body odour that these skin toning people have, it’s like raw chicken that’s been left out… It doesn’t matter how much they mask it with perfume, they still stink.

Beautiful black women, let’s celebrate the skin God gave us. There are plenty skin care products out there which will keep your skin vibrant and healthy without the need to tone or bleach. Do your research and find these products out and stop paying money for these rubbish products that do so much harm. In your 20s and 30s you won’t see the damage but you hit 40 upwards and you will see yourself looking like a frozen mummy. This NONSENSE must stop!!!!

Some people will do all they can to Tan/darken their skin (mostly white people) and some people will do all they can to lighten their skin – both are multi billion dollar industries and if one of my Nigerian sisters has the means to find a safer way for people to lighten their skin and get a cut out of this billion dollar industry – Good on her and i pray her business prospers!! Cant we ever just be happy for people trying to make it, why are we so judgemental??
Everyone is in pursuit of perfection in one way or the other, some over diet , some over eat to put on weight, some over exercise, some over use corsets bra’s, bum pads, some bleach and some over bleach, some tan and some over tan, some have plastic surgeries, some over spend on designers they can barely afford etcetera etcetera etcetera – like really – leave people to do what makes them happy and learn to mind your business… Sigh

@owl-To say I am disappointed in your comment is an UNDERSTATEMENT. How can you say and I quote your own words back to you here” Good on her and i pray her business prospers!! Cant we ever just be happy for people trying to make it, why are we so judgemental??”

How can this be good on her? How can you pray about this? A product that compromises women’s skin care health? How can this be the SUBJECT of your prayers? Hmmmm

Is it now money at ALL cost regardless of the health implcations. Lots of black women are suffering from skin cancer and long term irreversible skin challenges because of products like this and all you can say is good on her because she is making money out of a product which is compromising women’s health?

This is NOT about being judgemental.

Its about educating women about the dangers involved in such a practice. My dear, go and do your research please and don’t spew out such ignorance. There is NO healthy way to change one’s natural skin colour composition.

The ONE THING I agree with you on is that YES we are all seeking perfection one way or the other BUT lets go for skin health by seeking out products that help us maintain what we naturally have without compromising it or changing it to the detriment of our health years down the line.

If I was in the business of skin care I would HATE to be in a business like this that harmed women’s health even if it made me lots of money. How can one sleep at night knowing that what you’re selling is compromising women’s skin care health because all you’re thinking about is making MONEY. Life is not all about money you know. How you make it and at whose expense is also very important. Think about it.

Well done on her for coming out with a skincare product BUT please ensure that it doesn’t compromise women’s skincare health, that’s all I am saying. If she REALLY cares about women’s skincare health then make products that are SAFE to use and EMPOWER women to celebrate what God in His WISDOM has given them NATURALLY.

@Jodie – You seem smart, so I’m sure you understand there are regulating bodies and policies in place before product can be placed in the market and sold (Im speaking for the western world, I no sabi 9ja polices.. ) – Also everyone contributing to this billion dollar industry by buying skin lightening product aren’t stupid or ignorant like you think there are – Sigh –
I am supporting Dabota on the basis that she claims her products are safe/botanic – as I wrote earlier “ if one of my Nigerian sisters has the means to find a safer way for people to lighten their skin and get a cut out of this billion dollar industry – Good on her and i pray her business prospers!! “
You claim there are no safe skin lightening products, but I’m yet to see your documents and approved research on all skin lightening product where you have sufficient proof they are all toxic.. When you have produced your official research, please handover to the regulating bodies. I’m sure CTPA, FDA, etcetera etcetera etcetera will be do something about – But until then please be happy for her.

      Now for some REAL WISDOM:
**Red meat causes cancer – All the sellers of red meat should be banned from selling it!! **
      LOL ;-)

Dabota, it’s pretty obvious you and Linda worked on that stunt. I hope it works – FOR YOU (your product). Cos Linda has a mansion and several assets to show for her PR stunts with people.

    1) Linda coming at your knuckles was VERY UNLIKE Linda. Why? You belong to a class Linda would rather rub shoulders with (no disrespect to Linda) but we all know Linda in the past 3 years has gone really calm with celebrity stories, she doesn’t want to be in their bad books I guess. The Tiwa story, Tuface kissing Pero story, Toke’s marriage story and so many more. Linda no longer breaks such stories despite having inside gist.

    2) That story about your knuckles was a typical SDK post, if Stella had talked about it, truth is you probably would have ignored. But because it was a stunt, you equally ‘shaded’ her ashy knees (maybe that wasn’t part of the plan but it was shady as hell).

    3) The irony is, right after you shaded Linda back, she hasn’t posted anything about you since then. LOL! Funny Linda was the one who threw you in our faces, she was the one yelling Billionaire’s wife on every post about you – and guess what? Your business name is Billionaire’s Wife. You really think we’re idiots.

Honestly, i really wish you the best.

Single Shalewa Why is it a bad thing that Linda is cooling off mean gossip? Do you prefer her as a cyber bully? She’s made her money so is it necessary for her to continue to feed you people’s dark desires?…. Just saying.

I thought I was the only one that knows Linda too well, lol…infact chop knuckle, was surprised when Linda talked about Dabota’s black knuckle cos the only celebrities she yabs are foreign ones then kiss the ass of naija ones.

  16. PR Stunt

    October 28, 2015 at 3:14 pm

This is DEFINITELY a PR stunt because it was exactly the same script with Stella dimoko couple of weeks ago,. Stella apparently “called her out” regarding her skin and Dabota “responded” on instagram after which stella then created a second post on the “response”
Do they think the public are fools?
It is now i know most of these so-called Bloggers will do anything for money

And as for Dabota, when the after-effects of your cream begin, hope the profit you’ve made will be enough to cater to it.

  19. Concerned Doctor

    October 29, 2015 at 2:34 am

Dobota, instead of being concerned about how to invent the next effective bleaching cream, you should check the lump on your finger, it might be
    (a) Xanthelesmas due to hypercholesterolemia
    (b) A benign tumor which might metastasis (Cancer)
    (c) Nodules due to Rheumatoid Arthritis
Get it checked out by your Physician.

Dabota, lbaate! Whatever cream; you are mixing, you now have a tumor on your finger. please see a dermatologist immediately about it. Please, please. That is an unusual site. I doubt its nodules rheumatoid arthritis because its not at your joint.

When someone criticizes, the defensive thing to do is to call it a judgement. We’re not God we can not judge others. It is simply stating fact. Lightening your skin peels off skin exposing it free radicals. Not everyone that opposes is hating. Everyone is allowed an opinion right? White people that are tanning with sun and steroids are just as bad. In fact we should stop comparing ourselves to white people’s dealings to justify ourselves, all is insecurities. Each to their own sha.
