Pregnant for a Married Man! ‘Maria’ from EbonyLife Film’s FIFTY Needs Your Help

Omoni Oboli as ‘Maria’

Help me please! I’m in a bit of a predicament and don’t know which way to turn. My name is Maria and I have fallen in love with a married man. As if that isn’t enough, I’m pregnant with his child. Please don’t be too quick to judge me, we really can’t help who we fall for, it happened, it’s happening and I don’t think it’s going to stop.

I wish I could tell you more but the man’s wife is a TV star (I’m sure you’ll know her). She hardly acknowledges her husband, it’s like he’s invisible so I guess he came to me for solace. Now, at forty-nine years old I’m pregnant with his child but I don’t know whether to have the child or not…? Please advise me.

Maria is a character in FIFTY, new and exciting feature film production of EbonyLife Film executively produced by Mo Abudu. Maria is played by Omoni Oboli. What would you do if you were in Maria’s shoes? Would you keep the baby?

What are people saying about FIFTY?

“Cinema 2 at the Ritzy in Brixton was sold out and the audience LOVED it. It’s celebratory of Lagos, strong women and African success. It’s not high art, it’s popular entertainment that shows people and places in one of the fastest growing economies in a refreshing new light.”

– Jane Mote, Interim VP Content and Creative at Turner Broadcasting Systems EMEA

“Thanks again for the invitation to see FIFTY.  It was an amazing film – the music, costumes, story, the elegance with which the plot was delivered. I loved it”

Ojoma Ochai, Director, British Council

“I attended the Leicester square premier which I thoroughly enjoyed. These occasions for Africans in the mainstream are rare. I found the film entertaining and feel that it will be an unquestionable box office hit amongst its audience.”

Nadia Denton, Film Industry Specialist, Publicist and Author of The Nigerian Filmmaker’s Guide to Success

“Nigerians can look forward to a big treat when FIFTY, a new film by EbonyLife Films hits the cinemas nationwide from December 18, 2015. We were all highly impressed and full of praises after the media screening yesterday evening in Lagos. Kudos to my sister Mo Abudu and the entire cast and crew of FIFTY.”

Tunde Kelani, Film Maker

      Help me tell her o

My advice: Keep the child. If the man wants to be with you, let him man up and do what’s necessary. If not (as most married men just tell lies just to get into… you all know what I mean) end the affair but make sure he makes it known to his family that he’s the father. If he refuses to acknowledge the child, then you don’t need him. Be the best single mum you can be.

Last I checked polygamy is still legal in Nigeria, why are you saying married man like its a dirty word?

Ohh I forget, Nollywood movies tend to forget what country their films are set in. Join your new fictional family and prosper jare. I can predict in part 2 somebody will be poisoned in the fight for inheritance.

I will have to agree with Saint Tracy and Mimi. Try to live your life in such a way that you won’t have to cry for some kind of funny help. Life throws challenges at people and they may need help in fighting those challenges but don’t bother me with the one you threw yourself into. Some men will do anything to satisfy inordinate desires. Something is always wrong with their wives so they can have their way. Just don’t kill the baby o. Don’t add mistake upon mistake. Ask God to forgive you, ask the wife to forgive you and stay out of their lives even God told Haggai to leave and provided water for her and Ishmael so they don’t die. You can still have your own. Trust me, you are not too old at all. I have seen a 60 year old woman get married to a great, wonderful man. The guy is also famous o. He lost his wife.

how pathetic. u fell in love with another woman’s husband?? great. ask him to get a divorce and marry u. since he has a “distracted” wife, I’m sure he won’t mind leaving her for u.

Haba na picture effect na(film Trick), not every thing is as it seems with pictures. There is a lot of make up and lighting effect added and besides she has a dark and lovely skin, I see no reason why she or any other will be bleaching. Peace

…And no one falls in love with the handsome, kind, sincere, educated, unemployed, willing to do any kind of job, young man from a nameless family, who shares a room with several others.

Don’t feel ashamed you not alone. It happens all the time. Don’t allow these stupid naysayers to influence your next move. It’s nobody’s business to start with. All of them are blaming you out of crass stupidity. I’ve been there, you are going to be okay. You didn’t rape this man, he should be man enough to protect you. In my case, I was married and had a relationship with someone, and got her pregnant. In trying to protect my marriage, she opted to have an abortion, and i declined. Went straight to my wife and told her. What came next, was the biggest surprise of my life. Thinking that she was going to divorce me, she said, you should have worn a condom. To be continued.
