Mavin Star Di’Ja is Engaged | First Look at the 1st Traditional Ceremony

Published

 on

Di'Ja Wedding 1On Thursday, a BellaNaijarian sent us a message telling us about the wedding of Mavin Records’ Di’Ja.
It has now been confirmed that the “Awww” singer and her fiance completed one step of the traditional marriage rites on Thursday 10th December 2015 in Kaduna.
The Sierra-Leonean/Nigerian music star kept the news of her engagement and the ceremony low key.

Wishing her and hubby a happy married life.

Why is she dressed in yoruba attire. Thot shes hausa. Congrats beautiful one. Where is the lucky groom picture.

    • Mrs. T

      December 12, 2015 at 2:47 pm

She is actually from Seirra-Leone, while her Mother is the one who’s Hausa, although she was born in Nigeria. Her Dad is from Seirra-Leone. Anyway, to answer your question, most Hausa’s like to wear the Yoruba traditional attire during their traditional marriage ceremonies.

      Happy Married Life, Di’Ja.

    • Huldra

      December 12, 2015 at 2:35 pm

      Is she 15 years old?

    • Mrs. T

      December 12, 2015 at 2:51 pm

She looks young for her age but she is not exactly young. And what do you mean by being too young? She’s above 26. I don’t think she’s too young to get married, but I believe we have different ideas on marriage. It’s not like she’s a teenager. Perhaps you classified her as one seeing as she looks young and good for her age.

    • Nana

      December 12, 2015 at 6:20 pm

Mind u, she’s 28. She actually looks younger than her age.

Dija is 32 she and my elder sister were classmates in essence in kaduna. She is no kid.

    • Mimi

      December 12, 2015 at 7:32 pm

Tell them oh! Because she has taken care of her body well she looks young but she is actually 32. Typical Nigerians believe that age and fat go hand in hand, they don’t believe you can be trim and fresh while advancing in age.

So now that SDK’s RHI wedding gist is true, I’m wondering that the accompanying gists (that le boo has been married twice b4 & she’s pregnant) may also true. For what other reasons could she have coded this #justwondering.

  22. Kate

    December 12, 2015 at 4:00 pm

I suspected something was off from the moment I watched that jantanmata video and her outfit was different and a lil free. Kinda hiding a possible baby bump. Same way I knew Tiwa was pregnant after watching Oyari video.

  23. Ogbenituks

    December 12, 2015 at 4:07 pm

The reason Hausa people wear your a wears is because they don’t really have a cultural dress for weddings unless they use the Islamic garments which some may not want to use for thier wedding so they can wear iro and buba or Ankara or sometimes a long dress designed in a Nigeria way but sha she can wear what she wants she’s a Nigerian and Nigerians can wear what they please forget tribe

    • Belema

      December 12, 2015 at 4:41 pm

Some of you say what you’re not sure of with so much certainty. Hausa’s do have traditional wears! However, they usually change to Yoruba attitres for the 2nd or 3rd look(s). Or even use it as the 1st. Be sure of what you’re saying. Jeez, talking about Hausa people don’t have traditional attires. Smh at your ignorance.

When did it become a crime not to announce your wedding on the internet? I wonder why this is news??

  29. Koffie

    December 12, 2015 at 8:39 pm

BN, that title is is misleading though. I opened the post thinking it was a proposal post but it’s an a traditional wedding. Even Yorubas that call theirs engagement don’t mean engagement in that sense cos you’re married once you’ve done the ‘engagement’. Plus she’s supposedly half-Hausa and whilst I’m not sure how that works, this looks like a traditional wedding to me.

Mmm all ye sdk ppl we go hear word? Lol! Stella sha, who knows if she works fr d CIA! However we must also appreciate BN! For posting all dis sdk praising comments! If she was jealous and petty she wouldnt have done it! BN has always been a role model when it comes to character! No unecessary flaunting of wealth/properties! She celeberates even her sopposed competitors! Lesson learnt is, no need to envy anyone. As d sky has enough space fr all birds to fly…so its there space for us all to suceed…u dnt need to pull somone down to go up!

  41. Ama

    December 14, 2015 at 7:59 am

I’m not Yoruba or even Nigerian but I understand what the others are saying. If she’s Hausa, then she needs to wear her attire proudly instead of taking from another tribe’s attire. I’m an Akan(the largest tribe in both Ghana and Ivory Coast) and I have seen my tribal cloth, Kente, being misused by other tribes in Ghana, other Africans and foreigners. It’s sad that it’s being used as a fashion statement and I doubt the ones wearing it know of its tribal origin and significant value that it holds for my people.

    • Senanu

      January 26, 2016 at 10:11 pm

      Dear Ama,

The Kente cloth has become a National symbol for Ghana and Ghanaians. You should be proud to share it with other Ghanaians.

And Last time I checked, the Kente cloth is also native to the Ewe tribe. Infact, the first Kente festival was celebrated by the Ewes from Kpetoe.

It’s like the Ashantis saying Ghanaian maidens shouldn’t adorn themselves with gold on their big day because, “its native to them/”their “cultural heritage”.

Educate yourself sisteh. Stop embarrassing us on social media. There’s enough Kente to go round.

  42. Missatl

    December 14, 2015 at 5:32 pm

Shut up Ama!!!!! If u are Ghanaian then make sure u don’t wear a white wedding gown!!!! make sure u use kente to make ur wedding gown…all u morons and nonsense talk!!!!!!!!
