Society sets standards for us that make us feel inadequate with who we are and what we have. Many times these standards are even unattainable by the very “faces” fronting them.

Majority of the suicide cases recorded in history are as a result of depression that result from the victims who thought they did not have what other people have, or are not enjoying life the way others are seemingly enjoying it.

We many times strive to “keep up” with virtually unrealistic standards put up by the society that we end up being “laid down” by the stresses they bring.

This inspiring message by James Fridman, a graphic designer known for making hilarious “photoshopped” images sent in by individuals, should help to make us understand that we all are running our different “programs” in life.

James refused to manipulate an image sent in by a young woman who is struggling with an eating disorder and thinks she’s not pretty enough. She asked the photoshop guru to make her beautiful. She captioned the image:

“Hey James I was wondering if you could maybe make me look pretty in this picture I don’t have any self confidence and I am struggling with an eating disorder so just wanted something to aspire to be and look like, just a beautiful version of myself.”

He replied her with the same picture (unedited) and shared an inspiring caption, “Nothing and no one could make you prettier than you already are. Don’t be influenced by the wrong standards. Don’t put looks before your health. Get well.”James Fridman twitter1

James also refused to manipulate the image of a kid who wished he was white. The kid sent in a photo of himself with the caption, “What if my skin was white (I love your photoshop)”. He replied the kid saying, “If your skin was white, that would be a completely different person. You are who you are and that’s the beauty of it.”James Fridman twitter2
