Wives on Strike Premiere BellaNaija 8It is one of the most eagerly anticipated Nollywood movies of the year! “Wives on Strike” premiered last night at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas VIP Screening Room in Lagos.

As expected, the list of stars at the event was seemingly endless – Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Ufuoma McDermott, Chioma Akpotha, Kehinde Bankole, Bovi, Julius Agwu, Monalisa Chinda, Ashionye, Blessing Egbe, Annie Idibia and so many more.

Wives on Strike, is a hilarious comedy about a group of market women who decided to take matters into their own hands against their husbands in a bid to stir them into standing up for a young girl whom they wanted to protect from the wishes of her own father. The women, who hilariously interpret their roles, set a series of events in motion to give the movie many moments of laughter without missing a beat on the reason for everyone to know why they are on strike.

The movie hits cinemas this week – from Friday April 8th 2016.

Big fan of Omoni but this movie is just a waste. Nollywood keeps on releasing improved rubbish and expects us to leave our houses to watch it.

Take several seats, don’t call a movie rubbish if you haven’t seen it. I for one am proud to say I saw it and it was amazing and Hilarious, my 1200 cinema ticket was well spent. #proudlynigerian #freethegirlchild.

Also, why does she always look bashful in pictures? She doesn’t look tacky, just has zero confidence about her appearance.

See how you’ve stated your opinion (which is nothing but just an opinion) as if it is a fact. What makes you so sure that she has zero confidence about her appearance? Easy o!

Chioma Chukwuka… dressed from head to toe….she is gorgeous. I am going to see this movie not because Nollywood is the best in the world, but because this is what we have to call our own. Besides, with the way this country is right now, this is the perfect time to laugh and forget our sorrows…..

Good for them, I’m really liking Omoni Oboli’s worth ethic. The film itself looks like it has comedy potential and I hope it is great, but from the trailer the main issue is that people are not lit properly. This is a constant issue in Nollywood, we have to work harder at it, a brilliant script and cast can be let down by poor lighting and sound and to me the difference between straight to video or cinema release should be clear.

Trailer looks catchy n fun but with the way ‘fifty’ was hyped…. Sigh. I kept waiting for the movie to start till it ended. The trailer is good enough for me.

Chioma has been slaying a lot lately. Everyone else just looks overdressed for a premiere at a location like Genesis Lekki. Really too much on Uche, Ufoma looks fine too. I don’t like Omoni’s dress at all… tacky in gold.
