Alleged Sexual Assault at Queen’s College: Panel Lacks Evidence to Indict Teacher

Published

 on

queens-college-lagosAbuja, May 13, 2016 (NAN) The Ministry of Education said the investigative panel into alleged sexual molestation on a female student of Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos could not establish any evidence to indict the accused teacher.

Prof. Anthony Anwukah, the Minister of State for Education, who briefed newsmen on Friday in Abuja, said the mother of the victim failed to appear before the committee to prove her case.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Anwukah had on March 22, set up a committee to investigate the alleged sexual molestation of a student of the college.

He said that the ministry would take appropriate actions following the recommendations of the committee.

“The Investigation Committee did not establish any credible evidence against the accused teacher, considering the fact that Chinenye Okoye remained unidentified, faceless and inaccessible despite the Committee’s best efforts and assurances to protect her identity and that of her daughter.

Consequently, the Investigation Committee finds it difficult to recommend disciplinary action against the accused teacher as the complainant failed to come forward to prove this weighty accusation.

The Committee could not establish any cover up of sexual molestation by the management of Queens College.

The Federal Ministry of Education notes and accepts all the recommendations of the Committee and will take actions as appropriate,” he said.

The minister asked anyone with information that could lead to the identification of the alleged victim or her mother or with any credible and substantiated evidence to approach the ministry. (NAN)

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in May 1976 to gather and distribute news on Nigeria and cover events of interest to Nigeria at the international level for the benefit of the Nigerian Media and the Public.

It was a false allegation,it was obvious that some mischief makers were out to soil the image of the teacher, after winning 5 awards as the best teacher.Thank God for his family.

So……we are back here….after weeks of waiting……for the outcome of the investigation.

SHAME on the woman that accused the man and refused to show up to substantiate the serious and life changing allegation.

AND…shame on all of you that mobbed the man and sentenced him without giving him the opportunity to defend himself.

I am waiting for those that will want to attack me again for my comments on this matter………

even if the man was guilty the nonchalant way the mother of accused handled this case…..creates serious doubt about the authenticity of these claims..on the other hand the relatives of the young girl would have told them to “leave it for God” hence the decision to just change schools and let it go….too bad for other students who have genuinely been in similar situation……

Ode they didn’t say it was false evidence, they said there wasn’t enough evidence (because the mother refused to step forward). We QC girls know the man like that so what nonsense noise are you making here?

      May 13, 2016 at 6:57 pm

So why did you not step forward if you ‘know the man like that’ to give your own evidence?

Shame on all the feminist on this blog. Una don see una life. Your Naija men bashing has come to nothing. No credible evidence, the coward of a woman couldn’t show face. You lonely fustrated feminist were so biased against the teacher as if you were there when he was molesting the little girl. Why didn’t the mother show up. Bunch of losers.

It doesn’t necessarily mean nothing happened. It just means they did not show up to testify. Don’t get your pink panties in a bunch and calm yourself.

Adam is already in jail. His girlfriend is already on to the next one.

That mother should be hunted down by the DSS, taken to Dodan Barracks and flogged with horsewhips made from the hide of the oldest, most mature cow that can be found.
If you’re going to make an accusation that can mess up a man’s life forever, at least have the balls to show your face at the hearing.

First I wish that woman have got the nerve to show up, but I understand how Nigeria is. Their lives matter and there’s always an element of truth in every rumor. I recalled a bunch of comments & how people were so sure he has done it before. Oh well what do I know?

  13. It was because the alleged victim was Igbo and the accused Yoruba

    May 13, 2016 at 7:48 pm

There was nothing to this case but petty jealousies,How can a given name not be known in the school, the school authorities dismissed the rumor earlier. Now the federal panel also said Considering the fact that chinenye Okoye remained unidentifiable, faceless and inaccessible,it was a case that was dead on arrival, but for the tribal sentiment thrown into the mix.How can they not know the name of their student.

Thank God for the teacher. I have never seen a bunch of demonized women called Nigeria women. Without any credible evidence against this Biology teacher, you guys called for his HEAD without seeing the useless & idiotic mother who made this up. I must appreciate the Principal and teachers of QC who stood rigidly by this teacher. Most of the academic staff of QC are women, thank God they stood on the side of Justice and not the evil import of Western culture called FEMINISM.

“…deionized women called Nigerian women”; you say? My guess is that you mean “all Nigerian women?” I may be wrong, however, I suggest you watch your words and not generalise. I presume you were brought into this world by…??? One must not comment in all matters. Especially one he knows nothing about first hand.

I mean you bloody feminist. I praised the QC academic staff (mostly women)who are what the BIBLE called Vessels of Honour . My term demonized Nigerian women are the lonely feminist who cannot submit to the their husband as the BIBLE & Quran puts it. Anyway most of them are in their late 30s without any meaningful relationship talkless of Marriage. Their main aim is to bash Naija men and belittle the institution God ordained called Marriage

So much for your Christianty religion. Your darling god must be really proud of you. You sure don’t make your Christianity look attractive. Not every feminist is a Christian or Muslim. Some of us are atheist, Buddhist, agnostic Hindus e.t.c

Oga go and look up the meaning of feminism, you sound uneducated and threatened by something that, if asked, you probably can’t define. I just saw your comments under Tiwa’s post too and you just sound angry. Mr man the world is changing, the same Bible that you keep referencing called women help mates and not slaves, it asks for submission and not service. Whether you like it or not the main culprit here is education, with education, women have realized that they have a brain, given to them by God and that they can use it. So if you like no send your daughter to school, lol (she will probably end up not very demonic) ?? since demonic to you = brain use, standing up for your rights, speaking up against sexual abuse or even suspected sexual abuse etc.

And this your comment shows that you obey and follow the bible abi? Shame on you! So what if someone is in unmarried in their 30’s. You think everyone is hungry for marriage? It is your type that would have shamed people like Paul, John the baptist and Jesus Christ for not being married. Nonsense!

  16. There was no mother

    May 13, 2016 at 8:32 pm

Just unsubstantiated allegations,if not for the tribal sentiment, there’s nothing to the allegation, just envy.If the name of the fake victim was Yoruba, once the school authorities found no student bears that name,it would have be forgotten.Thank God for the poor man.

  17. I grew up in AKOKA YABA

    May 13, 2016 at 9:06 pm

I’m sure Mr. Seni must have harassed the little girl. I’ve known him since 90s he started teaching in tutorials around Akoka Bariga Shomolu and it’s environs, because he’s good at what he does, young innocent girls tend to always wanna be in his good books and he took advantage of that. I attended Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls Secondary School Sabo Yaba and I attended some tutorial centres then so I’m so sure of this, we saw and we heard. He had a counterpart then called Dr. Bounce they both teach Biology. That woman should have come out to speak but I kinda understand her plight, trying to protect her daughter. I hope and pray the law catches up with u soon……

I wasn’t here tho but his past records wouldn’t alow me doubt this accusation. Girls that grew up in AKOKA and attended tutorial centres can testify to this.
I understand the woman’s plight, trying to protect her daughter and not showing up at the panel. It was courageous of her to have spoken up. I hope and pray you get justice……

There was nobody with that name don’t you get it,when will you cure yourself from this tribal sentiment,it was all cooked up lies from the pit of hell, and God exulted the man,end of story, stop dreaming of what is not.you are a sorry soul,He never taught in any lessons.

I tale anonymous reports are not allowed. I don’t blame the mother for not showing up. She may be trying to protect her daughter who probably still goes to QC. I am upset she didn’t show up. It begins with one step. One she wasn’t ready to take but one that needs to be taken of we want anything to change.

Mischief makers understand the sentiment of Nigerians, that was why the fake name of a faceless victim worked better against the man.
