‘Her sawawu’… LMBO! I always enjoy Akah’s videos, he’s always entertaining, especially with Makida. And great point about consumer protection – we actually do have consumer protection laws in Nigeria as well as a Consumer Protection Council, but as with most things, the awareness and implementation need to be improved. Well done, Akah, keep it up.

Bella I hail o, tea via proxy abi! An unfortnate and avoidable tarnishing of well thought of brand. What a shame! Every situation has a lesson and is redeemable. I hope Tope’s come back is strong and adapted as necessary.

I stand with TOPE FNR…..pple make tailors/ designers job extremely difficult. How can you look like Adele and expect to look like Rihanna. IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!! AM A DESIGNER ANYWAYS BASED IN ABUJA?

You just cut your customer base all by yourself with this comment.
Please learn some humility and learn how to turn EVERY single customer’s experience into a good one regardless of size. That’s what makes a successful business. I read a comment under Topefnr’s story from a self-proclaimed designer who said she was going to do like Wana Sambo and not sew for plus sizes because they are too stressful. My mouth just hung open at this blatantly discriminating and quite frankly, small-thinking approach to achieving success.
I honestly feel every small business owner in Nigeria first needs to take a course in customer service or work in a customer service role. These are the same people complaining that Nigerian services are not patronised. My experience with quite a number have made me wonder whether I’m the one paying for the service or you are the one paying me.

I used to follow Tope on Instagram until she uploaded a video where she was crying over the fact that Beyonce wore one of her designs. Smh! I unfollowed immediately.

@Uncle Gwe Gwe Gwe, Your comment is pretty insensitive. If Tope couldn’t make a dress for the body size, the honest thing to do was tell the lady she cannot instead of fraudulently collecting a whooping sum of over N100k for such tacky job. The fabrics she used is nothing to write home about. She lied the lady is preggy but we have seen she is not…

Also, there is nothing wrong with an Adele’s body shape wanting a dress. Even Adele wears dresses and they fit. Our Toolz wears dresses and she slays in them so what is your argument really?

If anything is way above your head, seek to learn but when you fail, do the proper thing.

Exactly! This thing could have been fixed with an apology and an alternative offer. You don’t do refunds, fine (though I think that’s a little ridiculous). Re-do the dress ASAP according to what she wants, even if you subtly slide it in that she chose the fabric. Offer her a free dress of equal value at a later date. Even if she says no you have tried. At 105k somebody is paying for the experience more than the outfit because many people can do what you do. How can people not understand that it is the client experience that separates competitors?
Anyway I am glad she was honest by telling the world she doesn’t know how to sew for pregnant women (meanwhile the woman’s wedding dress hid that well), and that she can only do ‘sexy’ styles. Now we know where not to go if pregnant or looking for something ‘unsexy’

She is pregnant but just a few months so it shouls not have hindered the outcome anyway

I think most well known fashion designers dont even check out what their tailors make, they only concentrate on the big names and do their job well. She probably gave it to an intern to do the job. An apology would just have been proper.

Oh noooo! Appaz! I’m in tears laughing. Akah please stop. How can they be saying the lady is fat? Do they know what obese is? Even if? You will now charge N105k to create that monstrosity? Fear God nau Tope. All these Shoe makers that call themselves designer. Fraudulent and possessed people. Moyo (Perola Moda) is another one. Your day of reckoning is coming, if it is not yet on you. They will be forming I’m internationally trained. Meanwhile the lady from Lautech that sews for me is amazing.

This video is hilarious. Tope’s attitude was so wrong, and that is what upset me the most. They finished her on Twitter and she went on Instagram looking for validation with all her deceit, yet it backfired. N105k for that garbage, I will sit down in her shop and we mustu sew that dress together

I think its really pathetic how this site is trying to code the story. When it was the muffin bros u guys were given us post on post meanwhile this is a topic that will affect a lot of ur readers seeing as ur main business is weddings but nooo u guys decided to be shady and post it without an explanative title, u even removed tope’s picture from the cover photo when it is clearly there in the cover of the youtube photo. Did tope threaten to sue you or did she grease ur pockets? Just curious. If u like dont post my comment sha read it and do better.

Personally i used to be so inspired by Tope’s personality on IG& with time naturally admied her grind. After this ‘eye-opening’ episode, so many other stories of her nasty behaviour to others came out of the woodworks. Yes, i do agree with the consumer protection laws for rude thotlessly high and mighty wanna-be’s like tope. Yes, i agrer that her so-called BRAND which she built largerly via this same social media MUST be BOYCOTTED (like other ppl largerly suggested) not becos she refund policy but becos her attitude is shitty. Anyone who is unremorseful and unforgivingly rude to another human being who is making full upfront payment for a service on her SPECIAL DAY really doesn’t deserve a business let alone one with the opportunity for referralls. I have gone ahead to UNFOLLOW the silly rude ass of a Tope on all social media channels… And guess what?! Doing a random check on IG, i realized her followership count has greatly reduced from yesterday to today. Pls lets be the ‘voice’ to school & drum good manners to her ears, unfollow or boycott her brand!!!!!

If you have unfollowed her how can you.compare her following count on a private page ?

She is always quoting scripture upanddan but the lifestyle don’t back it up. International brands are not rude. They will apologise for the fact that you don’t like that product and for the distress caused even if they may or may not refund but at least acknowledge her pain. I was even considering patronising her i better keep my money because if that is me..nne lagos will be hotter than hot for your ass oh.
