Scores of people have been killed from herdsmen attacks on communities in Benue state in the last two weeks, eyewitnesses claim.

According to Channels Television, the traditional ruler of Logo, Jimmy Meeme, said 70 persons were killed in six out of the 10 council wards in his domain.

Meeme said the attacks were carried out by herdsmen on territorial occupation campaign.

The report also said that eyewitnesses claimed that Turan, Mbagber, Yonov and Tombo communities in Logo were attacked on the same day while Varser in Ukum Local Government came under siege, leaving 53 persons dead.

The State Coordinator of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Garus Gololo has promised to track down those responsible for the attacks.

Governor Samuel Ortom lamented the inability of the security agencies to arrest the perpetrators of the coordinated attacks.

Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, ASP Moses Yamu, dismissed allegations of neglect of duty by security personnel. Yamu insisted that only 22 deaths were recorded in Logo and Ukum local government areas.

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to condemn the incident which is becoming an everyday affair.

The amount of blood shed in Nigeria on a daily basis is ridiculous. This will be forgotten like it was nothing as usual.

Some people have sold their souls to the devil. Is human life no longer sacred. Have we become animals? What a bunch of souless herdsmen. It is time for these communities to begin to defend themselves before they are wiped out. The police and army cannot help.

When is Buhari going to DO something? When are we, the Nigerians, going to do something? March on the National Assembly, go on strike, Occupy Daura (if we can’t Aso Villa), when will NGOs, the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, CAN, the Nigerian Bar Association, LGA councillors from a cross the country, community leaders from across the country and traditional rulers, youth organisations and groups, women’s groups, Rotary, Soroptimist, Lions’ Club, religious leaders, parliamentarians state and national, governors, workers’ unions, student unions all rise up, come together, join forces, engage government, put pressure on Buhari, force him to speak what is right and act, do what is right, forcefully correct his ‘body language’ to the right posture, and also, engage each other and rub minds and come up with and enforce, implement solutions that are constitutionally valid. We CANNOT become immune to this! We cannot remain as if we are weak and have no power without government! Each one has the inalienable right to life and to defend himself/herself and his/her property. If Buhari will not act as he should, and these terrorists clearly have financial backers and sponsors of a non-pastoral agenda (for since when did herdsman and AK47 go together? How and where did illiterate, poor pastoralists suddenly come across the funds to acquire AK47s and the like?), then governors, captains of industry, rich industrialists, traditional rulers are left with no choice than to, also, join forces to procure arms and even training for vigilante groups from their own people and communities.. No full-blooded man or woman likes to be made to feel as if he is a mere chicken to be slaughtered mercilessly because his hands are tied by the inaction and wrong action of his first defender, his own government, and the legalities of constitutional law which may prevent him from owning a weapon. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. This is war and nothing less. These fulani miscreants and murderers, these terrorists are waging a territorial, occupational, ethnic, religious/islamic WAR on the country and in such a situation when murderous mobs invade communities and homes to kill, pillage, rape young girls and women, destroy lives and properties, set whole villages and communities ablaze, behead and machete, riddle with bullets, pierce fatally with multiple arrows, no just judge will condemn any man or woman for acting first and asking constitutional questions later.

Buhari are you ever going to address this? When will your wife visit these communities too to distribute aid? yeye
Please we need a referendum for Christians and Muslims to go their separate ways. This is tiresome. This union favors only the elite.

You are afraid Buhari’s men will go after you like they are doing to Fayose and Ikpeazu?

Nigeria should split already! How can people who have struggled most of their lives (due to bad governance) still die like animals. This is so sad, very sad and painful. Let’s go back to the time of regional governance, it will improve competitiveness and cause regions to develop faster. Each region with their own laws, secuirity e.t.c.
Nigeria has too many problems for one man to tackle and Buhari is not even helping matters as regards these Fulani herdsmen. There can’t be progress without peace o. I don tire for this matter!

This is just Boko Haram, taking another name and they’ve been consistently killing Nigerians yet our President just wants to ignore it like the last one did. You promised security o PMB.
Don’t be surprised if you end up like the last president did.

What is beyond me is why the national assembly has not saw fit to delegate policing to the states, reach an agreement, for example no fighter jets, main battle tanks e.t.c. Nigeria is simply to massive for our current number of troops and policemen to secure.

Imagine if we had our equivalent of America’s national guard? Yet the legislators stay silent.
