Double Loss for Venus and Serena Williams as they lose their Unbeaten Record and Crash out of the Rio 2016 Olympics Doubles

In a sad turn of events, three-time gold medalists Venus and Serena Williams were eliminated during the first round of the women’s doubles tournament in the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The tennis superstars, who won the gold in 2000, 2008 and 2012, were heavy favorites who were many believed will secure aa fourth win.

But the Czech team of Barbora Strycova and Lucie Safarova managed to pull off the upset, beating the Williams sisters 6-3, 6-4.

As they walked off the court after their defeat, Serena spoke to reporters. “I wouldn’t stay it’s devastating,” she said, according to Reuters. “We had a chance to compete for our country, we did the best that we can. We had a blast out there.”
