Kemi Adetiba, Linda Ikeji, Osagie Alonge & More Make the #YNaijaPowerList in Media | See Full List

 on

YNaija.com has released the definitive list of the most influential people in media under 40.

The 2016 #YNaijaPowerList is an honour roll of the most powerful young Nigerians who have excelled in the media industry. From the Guardian Newspapers Executive Director, Toke Ibru, to Pulse.ng’s Editor-in-Chief, Osagie Alonge, to the queen of blogging, Linda Ikeji – the list pulls together those who hold the levers in Nigeria’s media space.

YNaija

The #YNaijaPowerList is an annual showcase of those who have gone beyond their own careers and their own empires, to influence trends, leading on success, and driving people to action.

From savvy publishers to the ‘Bruce Lee of visuals’ – these are YNaija’s “most powerful” in Nigeria’s media space:

Kemi Adetiba
Kemi-Adetiba-YNaija
Only Kemi Adetiba can gather formidable women like Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, TY Bello and Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah and get them to speak, confessional style about deeply personal life events. Her King Women series, yet to launch officially, got the Internet buzzing big time. Her music videos are almost always minor industry events. In recent times, Adetiba has worked on visual marvels like Lindsey Abudei’s Out the magazine and Sound Sultan’s Hello Baale.

Tosin Ajibade: You may recognize Tosin Ajibade as the curator behind the immensely popular OloriSupergal lifestyle blog but she has since capitalized on the leverage the blog’s success provides to make other power moves. In May, Ajibade gathered about 300 key new media players; encompassing brand custodians, agency representatives, social media influencers and celebrities to participate in the second edition of the influential talk shop, New Media Conference.

IK Osakioduwa: IK Osakioduwa has become synonymous with Big Brother Africa, the reality television show he has been hosting since 2009 when he replaced South Africa’s Kabelo. When he isn’t in South Africa making things happen, the OAP formerly known as Wildchild works with Rhythm 93.7 and his talk show, Highlites with IK on Africa Magic.

Osagie Alonge

Osagie-AlongeEverywhere you look these days, there is a Pulse.ng ad material staring you in the face. There is no escaping the media onslaught it seems. Leading the editorial charge for the brand is entertainment journalist Osagie Alonge. Beyond the routine news, lifestyle and events content, Pulse.ng under Alonge’s watch has cornered the market on the effective use of video to create viral content, with soar away segments like Pulse TV Strivia, Vox Pop and Facts Only.

Kingsley Ezeani: Ezeani is the force behind Information Nigeria, the media powerhouse that cornered the considerable Facebook audience share. These days however, he has delved into more highbrow fare with Redux Digital, the company that among other products and services, publishes PartyJollof.com, a sleek new start-up that provides viral content for the Nigerian market. Redux also has interests in digital marketing, mobile/web design, social media and content marketing.

Toke Ibru

Toke-Ibru-YNaijaFirst son of the late business man and media mogul Alex Ibru, Toke has quietly stepped into the leadership role that the family had been grooming him for some time. As executive director of the Guardian Newspapers, one of Nigeria’s most respected media brands, Ibru has overseen the paper’s transition from its traditional stuffy comfort zone to a sleeker, new age design. He has hired new talents and overseen Guardian online’s massive video push

Linda Ikeji

Linda IkejiEveryone’s favourite girl next door has continued to build on the runaway success of her eponymous brand. Asides from taking delivery of a brand new luxurious mansion in highbrow Banana Island, Lagos, Ikeji’s blog continues to be the place to go for breaking news, celebrity culture and gossip. Indeed for millions of Nigerians, it is not confirmed gist until it has been picked up by Linda Ikeji. Her give back project, I’d rather be self-made helps young girls along their road to entrepreneurship.

Uzodinma Iweala: Uzodinma Iweala’s debut novel “Beasts of no Nation” was made into a critically acclaimed Netflix film in 2015. He serves as editor in chief of Ventures magazine, the financial and business journal that trains its eye on the African market, uncovering success stories and power moves that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Ventures has challenged Forbes at their own domain and remains committed to covering financial Africa with panache.

Seyi Taylor

Seyi-Taylor-YNaijaTaylor is the co-founder and main marketing officer of Big Cabal Media, publishers of what is now regarded in some quarters as Nigeria’s largest technology website, TechCabal and the emerging Zikoko.com, an exciting hub for shareable pop culture content that is unabashedly Nigerian. Big Cabal media under Taylor’s leadership, was announced co-recipients of the Lagos Angel Network’s N50 million seed funding.

Perez Tigidam: Perez Tigidam is the publisher of TheNerve Africa, a global business and financial news platform covering continental Africa. Think Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal or Bloomberg, and you begin to get an idea of the extent of Tigidam’s ambitions. The Nerve Africa got off to a sexy start with its December 2015 listing of the 20 most inspiring Africans and hasn’t looked back ever since. Tigidam works as the User experience and content strategy team lead at TheNerve Africa.

I second that. Linda has done well for herself. I wish her SR will be better structured. I go to her blog for breaking news. While others are still sleeping, she would have moved on. Her commenters though are in a class of their own. But, being the good biz woman she is, she understands them/her market wella. They are loyal and love her in return

I love the way Bella promotes her colleagues. No room for unnecessary shenanigan. BN is a growing biz run like a corporation.

  2. Linda......ke?

Tribalism and bigotry, making her look unenlightened and small, she came on board as a cosmopolitan lady, but fell off badly with the usual Nigerians ignorance mindset like Buari.

Hello guys? Linda herself hasn’t feature this on her blog yet Bellanaija has….God bless Bellanaija and please, Linda may have made some mistakes and my question is, who hasn’t?
She does deserve to be there and does anyone just referred to her as butterfly that sees herself as bird?
    love all the way!

Looool. The earlier people stop getting angry when they hear or see anything about Linda, the better. She’s not our favorite girl next door but her website is the 14th most viewed website in the country. So who views her blog? I mean she like the rest of us can be annoying, so chill people. alexa.com/topsites/countries/NG

Linda let me take this medium to let you know, since you don’t read this on your own blog:
When I’m done reading a story and swipe back to the main page, it takes me all the way to an oooold post from weeks or months back. Was a regular visitor but now I visit once or twice a day and only click on posts that I absolutely must read.
It still hasn’t stopped, so for that reason I will stop visiting your blog. I know one reader might not make a difference but you don’t know how many people are affected. It starts as a trickle then a rush. Dynasties crash. Don’t think you’re infallible. Fix your blog.

Well well, I have also been having this same issues with BN, I have complained But it still occurs, yet I don’t go about issuing decrees to them. I just keep changing browsers to get a dose of my BN, now that is the definition of loyalty.
I visit LIB and don’t encounter issues when navigating next page, I guess technology sucks when it choose to.
      Spread the love

  11. Evil that woman do.

    August 2, 2016 at 4:40 pm

She sells hate, and it’s only normal that hatefulness follows her.I bet you Linda knows better, that theirs more love among the ordinary Nigerians than what she sells on her blog
All she’s doing to her is business, but in an ethnically diverse country like Nigeria, such negative reviews on tribal lines only promote disunity.

    • #bud hey #badbelle

      August 2, 2016 at 5:37 pm

I guess you live with her to know how miserable and high blood pressured she is, no wonder they say misery loves company as one recognize each other.
I wonder how one will visit LIB and can only deduce hate from the blog, I guess it’s all a vicious cycle as you are promoting hate here on BN and several other posts that have people cursing and pulling tribal daggers.
Seat behind your computer and keep hating, Linda keep living!!!!
Cheers to the brand you drink, I guess hateradelemon*?

Lol @ Kemi Adetiba’s teasers got the internet buzzing big time. Did you see how many views on the videos? 6,000 in some cases, even less. Since when did a 4 personality yet to be released show teaser become a benchmark for awards?

That Osasu show lady has over 30,000 views on some of her show videos
    youtube.com/watch?v=c-n7fU_EjxA

Even that Labo who just started last week has 4,000 views on her video
    bellanaija.com/2016/07/introducing-conversations-with-labo-watch-omawumi-talk-about-her-friendship-with-waje-marriage-style-more/

So how is that even a benchmark?

Oloirisupergal is not even on the top 558 sites on Alexa, it’s 599. so how is it super famous ngwanu?

Ynaija always hyping their friends. Breaking into this circle is going to take Jesus.

  15. Ngwanu

    August 2, 2016 at 5:03 pm

    I didn’t finish nna.

Where is Ebuka? Stephanie Coker who did great this year? They both headlined some of the best shows on TV? And I could go on

  16. Loyal fans...

    August 2, 2016 at 5:03 pm

I dislike her with passion, she comes across to me as total fake, and classless fellow, what loyal fans?the association of freebies.?They are the ones that will insult her tommorrow on her in ability to get married and by extension children.

    • #badbelle

      August 3, 2016 at 2:54 am

May be if you channeled this energy and passion used in disliking her into a better course, may be the world, no scratch that, may be Nigeria will get to know who you are and probably decide wether to love or hate you with passion.
At this juncture I think you need an intervention from whatever you hold sacred and rever, cos giving away so much negative energy to someone you have never met, it’s all shades of wrong. If you are a Christian I beseech the Holy Spirit on you to give you peace that passes all understanding, cos you never know what such hate you have in you might cause you to do.
And by the way, is it your freebies? Receiving freebies is way better than stealing or in your case hating.

Linda all the way. Linda is bae, and she has found favour in the site of God. Carry on haters…you all are needed to make things interesting.

  19. Bad belle is allowed on bigotry.

    August 2, 2016 at 8:11 pm

Don’t you see the way she was looking at the commissioners office?looking overbloated and distressed
On less she change her ways and preach love and unity, she will remain miserable and isolated.

      August 2, 2016 at 11:56 pm

You are evil. Aje, Azeh, witch, orieda, winch. You do not need to suck blood to be a witch. You wish you Hv Linda’s life. Ekwensu.

      August 3, 2016 at 2:57 am

But u preach hate already and very much of a bigot. How about you cure yourself first and slow down on hate, so you spend time getting your spellings accurately?

  20. nana

    August 3, 2016 at 8:32 am

Linda is bae, believe it or not but Ethnicity and bigotry won’t let some people appreciate her. please tell me, which blogger in Nigerian does not do copy and paste? Linda is made, she keeps growing while some people keep hating
