Bella naija pls do a feature on the burial of one of those executed in Indonesia for drugs. Let people see the fanfare burial held for him in the same massive house this 35 year old built probably from previous trips. They were even calling him a hero! Let’s all discuss what’s wrong with Nigeria that we no longer even have shame. What eyes will do we expect the world to use to view a people who celebrate such? And the worst part is the comments on naira defending this guy that everyone else is just poor and don’t have the liver to carry drugs lol what a people. This Country is so blinded by tribal sentiments that even a drug pusher will be celebrated as a hero as long as he comes from ones side! Why they are we surprised when some people were celebrating BK and some are now celebrating Militants? What is wrong with us as a people? Later we will be complaining that Somone called us fantastically corrupt. Are we not? In what other countries are drug pushers labeled as “Heros” ?

    • Ade

      August 20, 2016 at 4:10 pm

That is very shameful. What are they teaching the children in that community ? Go carry drugs and even if you get caught and executed your people will call you a hero! It’s amazing how morals are so lacking ,Nigerians think morals are about dressing and such but no it isn’t . . It’s about knowing that it’s better to be a laborer doing legal work than a millionaire drug pusher. Also they act like drug pushers are not killers , yes they are because drugs kill.

@ Amh, you have a point which is very sad but I think we have to find a way to change such mindsets . This is why breaking up Nigeria is not the issue. Even if we break up within a year all the broken Countries will be blacklisted for crimes. And yet I’m sure those people calling him a hero will enter Church afterwards and be forming religious.

@Naijatalk , you are what’s wrong with this Country. Everything to you is about tribe , the traditional leaders That you know heads must be buried with ? Did anyone come out to say their child’s head was buried? Did anyone actually catch them doing such? If and when such a person is caught I can assure you people would say the same .That people say something does not make it true as long as there is no evidence unlike this young man that was caught with drugs . Stop trying to justify rubbish . That’s why these young men keep getting killed every week for drug pushing because people like you will excuse anything as long as it’s from your tribe . You are no better than the boko haram apologists!

    • Naijatalk

      August 21, 2016 at 12:02 pm

You are what is wrong with this country because you allow barbaric practices in the name of tradition and you have the effrontery to call out people burying their own. Hypocrites and deceivers everywhere. You lot came on this post to display your implicit bias, taking away from ASA the reason for this post. You and Fani and Ade and AMh and anyone in support of you ( Bola and Nahum ) should be terribly ashamed of yourselves because your children will learn hate from you.
Do unto others what you will like done unto you. You celebrate Pellar owner of a Quilox, and act like you don’t know the source of his wealth. Did you see anyone from the East cry foul? Yet whenever there is the mention of anything to do with Igbos some of you just have this volcano of hate erupt inside of you. Shame shame shame.

    • Naijatalk

      August 20, 2016 at 5:15 pm

I hope you also call out the fanfare that surrounds the burial of traditional rulers; burials we know are steeped in ritualistic practices that involve the killings because heads have to be buried with these late monarchs.
I hope you actively speak out against that.

    • Nahum

      August 20, 2016 at 5:22 pm

You are just verifying their point. Being a traditional ruler is not illegal anywhere but being a drug dealer is. This is not about ethnic groups but the fact that we Nigerians have lost all sense of morality that we now celebrate drug dealers all because they have money. I have stopped weeping for Nigerians. We deserve the leaders we have.

Fani please take several seats. Fanfare?? U see i had to go check out the pictures myself. The guy was just buried….according to the custom of his people. So because he was allegedly killed for drug related issues he doesn’t deserve a burial? Do u even realise he has folks who mourn him and would forever live with the gruesome manner he was killed for the rest of their lives?
Whether Uzochukwu was really guilty we might never know but a young man of 35years was cut down in his prime and u are angry he was buried?
Please stop inciting tribal hate/war with your write ups. There was nothing glamorous abt the burial. Please dont speak ill of the dead!

@Fani, Bias impairs reasoning. If you were not already so biased, you would have looked at this from other angles as Darius below has. We will not grow as a country if we continue to tear one another apart. No tribe is better than the other, we all have good and bad people, period!

Why are you shocked? That is the norm among his people. They live for that lifestyle. To you he was a criminal to his tribe he’s a hero. Its inborn and inherent in them. You cannot change people. Period.

    • Naijatalk

      August 20, 2016 at 5:11 pm

You are evil minded AMH and you only crawl out of your sad hole whenever you see an opportunity to denigrate people from a particular tribe. You are to be pitied,
I guess in your region of the country fraud, deceit, lies, cheating, killing wives, abandoning wives and children, laziness, living in filth is inherent and inborn in the people and you cannot change them right? You really have a problem.

BN publish my comment since you actually publish the filth this AMH spills every time!!!

..naijatalk please don’t be angry with amh..lets just discuss without linking any tribe about this very sad issue ..i was beyond shocked to see undertakers dancing and swaying with the coffin of a young man whose life was wasted because of drugs and him being buried in his uncompleted mansion ……and celebrated as hero with invitations and all.i don’t want to hear it is because of buhari or jonathan he had been in prison for a while is something inherently wrong in Nigeria….

You mean living in filth like selling foodstuff next to faeces in Enugu market? Silly bigot calling another one bigot . Pot meet kettle . Continue patting these guys in the head oh and destroying your future generations. See the kinds of attitudes the so called leaders of tomorrow have and then you are surprised when the oldies keep ruiling!

@amh, hahahahahaha I see I am late to the party. I’ve promised you that as long as you continue to display vile hate on this blog you will be called out. The curse, cause less shall not come. If you curse from now till eternity, it will not touch me or hurt me ever. You on the other hand, see how you have displayed your proper morals and training. You are a sad ad sad bitter soul. I honestly feel pity for those who surround you, it must be sad being you. ButI have news for you – that wonderful man Jesus can take away any pain you are clearly suffering from. Embrace him today and stop your online campaign of hate. Hell is real.

@Fani, we don’t know for sure if the man in question was guilty of the crime he was alleged to have committed. Didn’t you follow the report. He maintained his innocence and said that he was tortured into confessing a crime he didn’t commit. His lawyer even said his client was not given a fair trial. Amnesty International has always condemned the Indonesian justice system as deeply flawed. Don’t you know that a lot of people in foreign countries (even in their own countries) are indicted for crimes they know nothing about and unjustifiably punished? Let’s not be quick to pass judgment. As organized as the American justice system is, a lot people are punished wrongly, talk less of Indonesia; a country that has no respect for human rights. You cannot say for a fact that he was a drug peddler, can you? Or you believe he was a drug pusher becoz the corrupt and deeply flawed Indonesian justice system said he was? Let’s assume that he was guilty of drug peddling and he was not a business man like he claimed, didn’t it occur to you that he might have lied about the nature of his business to his family? Maybe they were celebrating their son, an asaumed business man, who was wrongly accused and unjustly executed? We can’t be too sure. And when you are not sure about something, don’t sound as if you think it’s a fact.

Thank you for being a voice of reason in this case. It will indeed really sad if the deceased was innocent of charges brought against him. Thousands of Nigerians are held up for crimes they are not guilty of in such countries like Indonesia and as you pointed out, the USA and other far flung places. One hopes that we so develop such that Nigeria as a state is are able to defend her citizens wherever they may be.

@amh retrace your steps & retract your comments. You are giving this blog a bad name, cos people on here always claim that this blog is way classy and no crazy and abusive comments and do not promote tribal bigotry, unlike the blog everyone on here loves to hate.
Please its so crass to speak the way you are doing, apologize cos you are very wrong, yes do it. Let’s not behind a computer and send out do much hate and bile to people we will never meet.
And please watch it cos it seems you have so much venom for this Igbo tribe, you never know someone from there might just be the helper you need in a near future.
Do not cast an evil blanket over a group of people, bad people abound in all race and color. Relate with people on an individual basis and not by generalization

So @ fani, ade and the rest, you guys have found a way to hijack this post forming highlighting issues with Nigeria, like Darius have even punctured holes in whatever judgement that convicted the guy. You say its not about tribe but u guys were very quick to OK @amh comments where she threw a whole tribe under the bus.
Its alright, the government has made it easy for religion & tribe to always be the devisive tool used to blind us of their responsibilities to the people.
If you guys were so desperate about discussing the issue with Nigeria, why are your comments lacking on the previous post about a man being rearrested for naming his dog buhari, why are you not all over social media crying about social injustice and police brutality.
I will just leave it here, while you guys ponder on that and ask yourselves a very hard question, ie am I not exhibiting a tribal bigotry behavior?, are my tasking my government enough to provide basic amenities for the citizenry to reduce a recourse of survival migration, social vices, religious fanaticism and deciet?

But @okeke ebuka’s comment also had tribal undertones, why did no one notice that one, but another person retaliates and its world war in the comments.

BellaNaija your comment sections are no longer the base of positivity and discuss it once was. What is with all the tribalism published above? You guys need to do better really!
