Funke Akindele-Bello slays in Bibi Lawrence for Naija FM Comedy Awards

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele-Bello stepped out yesterday for the Naija FM Comedy Awards and we have to say, she nailed her look.

The newly married actress went with a black dress from Nigerian womenswear designer Bibi Lawrence‘s Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The collection features cut-outs and silhouettes that drapes nicely on women.

Funke Akindele’s beauty look was put together by Zainab Azeez who went with a soft natural and understated look.

What do you think?

Your response sounds worst than the initial comment because it projects more insecurity. But if the initial commenter is trying to imply having a yoruba face means less attractive, it’s clearly not true because we all know there are many women who are beautiful even with their yoruba faces. Funke has a Yoruba face, and so what? Oge Okoye has an Igbo face. Rahama sadu has Hausa face. They all look human right.
It’s okay to have a distinctive look. Ethiopians have look that’s different than others just like Asians.

Guys pls take a chill pill. I don’t think its wrong to carry one’s physical identity, ain’t nothing wrong with that jare. Funke has a yoruba face, it’s not a wrong statement. I meet people everyday and the first thing they say is ..”i guess u are igbo” and i’m like, how did you know, oh, u have the face. Did I curse them, no. its my identity, same way u identify Hausas, Indians, Chinese by their face. so u all calm down.

Oh please, the “even though” is the problem here. How does this sound to you, “you’re beautiful even though you’re black”? It means the op believes she’s a divergent to the status quo and I wonder what that status quo is in the op’s mind?

It seems like many people played hooky during English class in high school. A stupid commenter throws in the word “despite” after mentioning someone’s tribal identity, and you think it’s an innocent comment?

Nana is smart, despite being Urohobo
Mensah is sexy, despite being Ghanaian

Do you still think May’s comment is a harmless?

Biko what does a yoruba face look like? Can’t we just admire how fab she looks and move on?
Plus isn’t it the same face everyone screams looks like Taraji P Henson?

I also wonder what a Yoruba face looks like,, I am light/fair in complexion and all my life I have always been categorised as an Ibo. In Tejuoso and Balogun market, the Igbo traders always speak Igbo language to me before I correct them that I cannot speak the language. So does that mean I have an Ibo face. Loooooooooooooooooool

I want to play devils advocate and lay it out for y’all. Funke generally has this yorubaish, razz, loki, look. Take it or leave it. It is what is is.

Despite that, she looks nice in these pics. Ya see?

There is such a thing as “yoruba” face and Funke has it. It’s not usually associated with looking polished hence May’s comment. That Toyin actress is an example.
An “Igbo” face could be your typically light skinned face or a darker skinned face usually a bit on the hirsute side. Not always polished but money helps. Case in point Kanu Nwankwo’s wife. And then there’s Nkiru Sylvanus.
