How much does the book cost? I know it sounds silly to ask? But is it up £8:93?

Which is about 5000 Naira in Nigeria, I think. Or does it cost more?

What a strong, brave, beautiful, adorable and sensational woman!
This is what ALL your daughters should aspire to be!
This is what A REAL WOMAN looks like.

EE you and Lemmerant try too hard with the sarcastic men>women logic. Let it rest abeg. If you’re as intelligent as you like to think you are, surely you would understand that she speaks in context,no? Oh, and what happens to your daughters? Or only your sons can aim high? *kisses*

    • Loki

      December 5, 2016 at 12:33 pm

If a woman made your comment, the guys would been all over it like cheese on pizza saying that women can’t praise women without bringing down men.
I’m not sure why a lot of Nigerian men act like every point for women somehow translates to 10 POINTS FROM GRYFFINDOR! Progress shouldn’t be a zero-sum equation. Ponder that carefully EE before you make your next statement. I’ve always regarded you as a level-headed young man. It will be unbecoming for you to develop a herd mentality after this time. Aim higher.

    • EE

      December 5, 2016 at 1:06 pm

By any objective definition of the term, men>women. We’re stronger, faster, more likely to occupy the high end of the bell curve, built the modern world as you know it.

Women have a lot of challenges as is, if you lot want to lower standards, then why bother having daughters?? Men have invented technology to let parents decide their children’s sex, do keep up.

    • Loki

      December 5, 2016 at 1:27 pm

@EE if all that is true then why do you keep FIGHTING to maintain that “superiority”? I dont see a 5 year old and start having heart failure over the fact that he/she is smart or growing taller or just advancing in any way. That is insecurity-and it is laughable.
Keep on inventing- nobody is stopping you.
By your position, racism is also justified sonce the black race has done very little in the way of contributing to modern civilisation- or is it a black man that invented your cell phone or the educational system you’ve had? That my dear is the justification the other races have given for their opinion on the black race. Yet I’m sure you believe “all races are equal”. You cannot approbate and reprobate. That is the law.

    • EE

      December 5, 2016 at 1:55 pm

Hey @Loki, don’t know if you saw my other reply, but I’m (in my mind atleast joking), be honest, if the situations were reversed i.e the BN comment section had a freaky friday and suddenly became anti-women, you’d pick your spots to troll too.

      *Puts on serious hat*?

“By your position, racism is also justified”: Not remotely the same thing.

There is only one “race”, the human one, we as a race have even less genetic diversity than other primates. The differences of race are merely evolutionary, those in sunnier areas produced more Melanin. The development issues of blacks is more structural, geographical and economic than genetic.

Gender on the other hand, regardless of the pseudo-science opinions of the gender studies cohort (I mean no offence BTW) is not a social construct. There is clearly a female, whose easiest marker is the ability to get pregnant and a male, who well cannot.

So then are men>women, in the vulgar sense, yes. You take a black man and a white man, give them the same training, food e.t.c and their results, mentally and physically aren’t likely to be too far apart. The same does not hold for women, the average woman subjected to the same training and food will always be physically inferior.

That said, you will notice I did not say mentally, the honest fact is that on average, women are smarter than men, men tend to cluster; either very dumb or very smart. The achievements I listed are due to the ages gone prizing physicality, unlike our age which for the forseeable future will prize mental ability. So women will be the big winners of the 21st century, unless you guys let feminists go all Icarus on y’all, triggering a backlash.

So conclusion, are men superior to women, physically definitely, mentally you guys run rings around us. In the historical context though, men have built the world as it is and will continue to do so, let’s try not to restrict us to our penchant for “scumitivity” (not a real word???).

See seriousness involves paragraphs, unlike poking fun.

And @A Real Nigerian, with all due respect, I’d rather not have my daughter emulate Toke Makinwa. Not shade, but she’s just not the sort of woman “I” consider inspirational although I admit she actually gives some people some form of strength. I respect her hustle and her right to make her own choices, but for my daughter?, No thanks, I’ll pass. She treats life like a soap opera. I hate soap operas.

Thanks for asking. I had to call Amazon thinking it was an error with my app. We spent a little over one hour on the phone trying to cancel and re-buy the book. Did it thrice and still no chapter 10. Amazon refunded me my money. They said there had to be a problem with the book and that they would contact the distributor.

TOKE!!!!. GOD BLESS YOU. A friend of mine gave me the book. I read it and reflected on my life
This my friend has a 10 year old child for a prominent lagos family, in fact paramount Lagos family. she is from a humble background, they had their intro and that was it, they pay for her rent, bought her a car, got her a Job, the guy doesn’t even want to see her, she goes to the guy’s family function to do iyawo and competes with any girlfriend the guy brings home. she involves the guy in everything she wants to do using the child as a pawn, the guy sized her passport, she cant travel, the guys family tells her to move on, the whole case is messy, guess what she is still holding on, thinking about the possibility of marriage or being a permanent mistress and enjoying the benefits of being associated with the family, you know what? she judged toke and said she saw the signs and she is foolish and im like gurlllllll……

im married too but with my experience i hope to have a foundation that will help young women attain their potential without locking around a man to validate them. this is really important as it is going to shape our society. women need to own their personalities without thinking of validation from men but it might be hard. Here is why, GEN 3;16.
In as much as a woman needs to subject herself to a man, Do not loose yourself because at the end of the day, it might not be worth it.
The part that got me in the book is where Maje asked toke for money to give Anita during their counseling period and she refused, immediately Maje claimed Anita was better than toke and that he should not have married Toke, which means all the while Maje was using toke which also means Anita and Maje both planned the pregnancy in other to frustrate toke out of marriage and Anita willalso have the right to talk to Toke anyhow because of the nasty things Maje will supposedly be saying to Anita about Toke.
    ANITA!!!!! is is worth it?
After quoting Gen 3;16, Our hope will have to be in John 3;16

    • Nene

      December 5, 2016 at 2:57 pm

Your frien should move on. I don’t understand why women want to die on top man matter. Aim for good men not rubbish men, and also make sure you are a good catch yourself in every aspect.

    • Loki

      December 5, 2016 at 3:01 pm

Maje and Anita wanted to frustate Toke or Toke wanted to frustrate herself? Go and ask your husband for money to give your ex boyfriend and see whether he will even have a conversation with you or he will tie your leg to a concrete block and throw you into Lagos lagoon.
We women keep acting like victims when in truth we condone all sorts with vain hope of some kind of victory. Do you know how many women boast “At least I got the ring, I WON!!!”? Like there’s a bloody prize cos a document says you are now tied to someone legally. They do this even when they know their men believe monogamy is synonymous with suicide. Let’s start taking responsibility please. If you love a polygamous man, that’s your choice – no one has the right to condemn you for it. But don’t come remixing an old song and crying when no one buys your album. Volenti non fit injuria- that’s latin for “own your own freaking sh*t”.

I read her book and I got weak at this point.
    ‘On Becoming’ by Toke Makinwa
The night before the show I tried to talk to him, a deep conversation in the dark where we could bare our souls to each other. I asked why he wouldn’t let Anita go, why he would buy tickets for her to go on holiday.
What was it about her? With tears in my eyes and desperate to save my home, I was willing to learn, to become like her if that was what he wanted. If it was the sex, I asked him to teach me her moves. If it was her character I wanted to know, so I could become what he saw in her. I was drained; I had no pride in that moment. I begged him to give us a chance.
His next words were like a blow to my chest.
“You will never understand,” he said. “I care deeply for her, and the answer to all these questions will always hurt you.”

    • Kryptonite

      December 5, 2016 at 7:54 pm

My sister! I think Anita has Maje’s mumu button! Some of us have that kryptonite…… I ran away from mine. I think anytime Anita dumps Maje he runs to Toke. I think after the registry he found his way back to Anita and cried wolf “I just made a terrible mistake u caused it” am getting a divorce and Anita fell for it. In Toke’s book she wrote that she was notes on Maje’s computer where he was trying to tell her he wants a divorce immediately after the wedding. Well Maje is a weakling and should have gone the Anita way an not married Toke. He shouldn’t have married her!
