President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the Federal Government is not spending any money on the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Zahra, slated for Friday in Abuja.

The president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stated this in his Facebook page on Thursday.

Shehu maintained that all the wedding expenses including the printing and distribution of invitation cards, souvenirs, lunch event for the men and dinner for the women as well as other miscellaneous expenses would be financed by the family and personal aides.

According to him, the president has said that even though the family wants to make Zahra happy on her wedding day, she will not enjoy “Royal Wedding’’.

“Zahra Muhammadu Buhari’s wedding to Ahmed Mohammed Indimi starting today is a celebrity event to savour any day. Much as the family wants to make their daughter happy they, however, will not make it a royal wedding.

The President’s family is trying hard to keep it as simple as possible. Wedding Lalle, Fatiha, lunch event for the men and dinner for the women who must have come from far and near and the bride heads to her husband!

In a twist from what was a norm among past leaders, the President asked to be given the bill for the food at the banquet. Government, he said, has no business paying for that.

This should be treated as private. His family and personal aides put the money together to foot the bill. No government money in invitation cards, souvenirs or Aso-Ebi. That’s essential Buhari for you!!’’ Shehu said.

The Wedding Fatiha will be conducted at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Friday, while reception for guest will be held at the Presidential Banquet Hall.

There is no way this wedding will happen and it wont be critiqued and this is because they are obviously hiding stuffs and warning people not to bring cameras or take pictures. which means there is some sort of extravagancy going on somewhere. the indimis are rich and we know we know people gift presidents alot, so why didnt aisha choose to declare gift items brought to her, maybe through her social media, that way people will know how things came to be.. instead of trying to be stupid and hiding up and down.

The part that got my ribs cracking was ‘that’s essential Buhari for you’. But for real o, even if many were VERY FOOLISH during the campaigns and fell for lies like Buhari had to borrow the money for Presidential ticket from the Bank and that Buhari was drinking sachet milo with no milk and that Buhari’s daughter married an Igbo man, are there still people who are OUTSTANDINGLY FOOLISH to believe this particular press statement that Nigeria’s money is not being expended on this wedding?

The money he earned raising cows ba? thot he claimed to have no investments.
oh I forgot smone even paid for his nomination form of 1m, meanwhile all his kids were schooling abroad with a minimum of GBP10k fees and yet he didn’t have money to buy 1m form.
The family n friends dat he claims r supporting the wedding cost, is it not to gain favor so they will get contract or dere kids will get jobs in NNPC/CBN.
Nothing goes for nothing in Nigeria. Its all nepotism and indirect bribery.
    I hate hypocrisy.

Lol…hehehehehe….all these comments. I just can’t stop laughing.
What about the access cards? lol
Is the groom’s family not bringing anything? lol. or will they close their eyes and let their son have a less ‘royal wedding’?
I’m not hating but I believe that if the groom/ his family can spend so much on the ‘bride’s gifts’ before the wedding…..they can spend much more on the wedding.
I can not be an oil mogul and have a less ‘royal wedding’

Why are you guys acting as though BN didn’t bring us Northern weddings that had wayyyyyyy more glam than anything? Una think say the North poor??? They have the wealthiest and poorest folks in Naija, stay there.

If I was an entrepreneur in Naija, I would most definitely volunteer my services. No seriously be honest. This is a high exposure wedding. High net-worth folks will be in attendance. Why would I not want to be involved. Don’t even pay me sef? I’m sure many businesses volunteered their service so products just for the marketing purposes. And come on, the family knows people nah.

It’s only in Nigeria that I don’t see brands actively marketing their ish. Forget ambassador nonsense. Get your products in high-society events, in music videos by artists who are sure to get 1million+ views, in Jenifa’s movies, in award programs.

Well the daughter of the president, who is also the minister of petroleum ,as well as the former head of ptdf, and former president is marrying the son of one of Africa’s richest billionaires, so no one should seriously expect the wedding to be modest. The groom’s family can bankroll a lavish ceremony. So let’s sit back and enjoy the lovely pictures.
