As the United States of America prepares to swear in Donald Trump as its 45th president, former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has penned a congratulatory letter to the real estate mogul, wishing him well as he begins a new journey.

Jonathan posted the letter on his Facebook page. Read below:

Dear Donald J. Trump,

By the grace of God, President of the United States of America.

As the United States of America opens a new chapter today, many around the world, myself inclusive, are optimistic that the success you have achieved in your career as one of the world’s foremost entrepreneurs will be translated to your life as a public servant and custodian of the trust of the American people.

For over four decades, you have consistently created wealth and opportunities for yourself, your family, your country and its citizens.

The city of New York, host to the United Nations Headquarters, thus the world’s most prominent city, bears the hallmark of your signature through your real estate developments.

You have also left your footprints in politics, media, education, sports, entertainment and the arts.

From this backdrop, I am very hopeful that the United States of America and indeed the rest of the world will be witnessing great, worthy and positive frontiers under the Trump Presidency.

I congratulate you, the 45th President of the United States, as you begin your tenure today. I pray that God will bless your tenure and enable you actualize your vision and commitment to building a better and more secured America and the world.

Let me seize this opportunity to express my hope and desire that your administration will work with Africa to help her people realize their achievable great future and harness the God given potential domiciled in the land and people of Africa from Cairo to Cape Town.

May God bless the United States of America. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and may God bless the world.

Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR

A shame that available report from Port Harcourt now is that the repressive organs of the Nigerian state- Police/military are gunning down innocent, unarmed Nigerians for simply marching in support of Trump’s inauguration. It is immaterial that they choose to march under the umbrella of Independent People of Biafra- IPOB. People have a right to agitate for a better deal in a country surely.
The geneocide by the Nigerian state under Muhammadu Buhari seems to be speeding up.

RIP to the dead. It is quite unfortunate. Our Security Agencies are yet to imbibe standard practice of keeping law and order during Rallies or Protest March. The Senate should investigate and put the Police & Army in check. However, I understand from reports and pictures that movement have been hampered in Port Harcourt because of this rally. This is not not acceptable as it could lead to breakdown of law and order. Nothing stops IPOB from conducting the Rally at Liberation Stadium or Sharks Stadium under the watchful eyes of the Security Agencies. I am constrained to believe that they like putting themselves in harm’s way. The radicalization is real!!!!! While I share their enthusiasm for self-determination and belief that the trio of Trump, Netanyahu and Putin will arm-twist Nigeria in allowing Biafrans “”to go”” by this time tomorrow, I advise them to be more coordinated in their approach & execution plan. All I can see in their expression and body language is total hatred & disrespect for Nigeria and its leadership. This is quite unfortunate. Moreso, I see IPOB as a group with over-bearing attitude and zero-tolerance for whoever that does not believe in their dream. This attitude has to change if they really want to make progress. They are spending too much energy and resources organizing rally, protest, printing flyers, banners/flags, having village meetings. I need to see IPOB Team organizing seminars/conferences, doing awareness programme on local/international TV Stations with well-articulated objectives etc and in even doing CSR activities. This is the only smart and intelligent minds will give them listening ear all over the world. Good luck to them
