Lagos Police claims Hoodlums are planning to Hijack 2Baba’s Planned Protest, says “We won’t allow it to hold”
Lagos State Police Command has said that it won’t allow the planned protest against government policies to be led by musician, 2Baba, “to hold in Lagos”.
While speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said that intelligence reports indicate that criminals might hijack the process.
“Information reaching us revealed that some hoodlums are planning to hijack the peaceful protest. And as such, we won’t allow it to hold in Lagos. We know that Tuface do not have the capacity to contain such a crowd and we will not fold our hands and watch while things go out of hand,” The Nation quoted Owoseni as saying.
Owoseni had on Monday said that although his command is yet to be officially notified of the protest, the police will not allow unscrupulous elements to hijack the protest.
2Baba took to his Instagram page a couple of days ago to announce the protests.
“A call for good governance. A call for urgent explanation into the reckless economic downturn nationwide….to come out and protest this obnoxious and baseless policies and excuses of the government of the day,” the superstar musician had said in the post.
