Dr. Onimode Bandele, Deputy Director, Search and Rescue, of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Wednesday that 41 Nigerians were deported from the United Kingdom for various immigration offences had arrived the country.

Bandele received the deportees at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA) Lagos.

Bandele added that the 33 adult males and 8 female deportees arrived the country aboard a chartered aircraft at about 8AM.

“From the manifest with me, 41 Nigerians are on board and according to the British High Commission in Nigeria, they were deported because they committed various immigration offences. As a responsible government, we cannot just leave our citizens to enter the country without giving them a good welcome. Also, we want to let them know that the country they left years ago, is different from what they are returning to,” Bandele said.

He stressed that Nigeria had moved ahead since the deportees left the country, adding that everybody has equal opportunities under the present government.

Bandele advised Nigerians to stay in the country and develop it.

He, however, said that the deportees will be given stipends to facilitate their transportation to their various destinations.

NAN reports that other agencies who were at the airport to receive the deportees included officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Dr. Onimode Bandele are you sure that every body has equal opportunity in this regime? As for me i don’t think so.I see Nigeria as a failed project. It is a country just existing with myraid of problems whereby everybody come to do trail and error, steal and go.We don’t know who is goona help to chatter way out.We are just going round the circle. Two years has gone in the life of this administration and i cannot really pin point what the government has achieved so far instead high prices of goods, hunger, kidnapping and killings etc is what is trending.APC government has failed the people.Posterity will judge all that are involved in the failed Nigeria project till date.I just hope going forward, we will get it right Meanwhile guys welcome back home..

Nigerians and this multicolored traveling bags sha. I feel for them. If Niger was good people won’t prefer to face humilation in another man’s land. Although I don’t condone illegal entries. God is bigger than that. If you are destined to be there, He will make a way. Don’t force it.

Not a great experience but not the end of life…Once there is life, there is always hope…I wish them all the best…

As someone who has been behind the walls of an immigration detention centre in the UK. I know that where there is a will there is a way. Gods ways are definitely not our ways. Joy will come for you and I can only wish you the absolute best.
