AU Chairperson Alpha Conde Calls President Buhari, Wishes him Good Health and Speedy Recovery

President Muhammadu Buhari received a call on Friday from President of Guinea Alpha Conde, who is also Chairperson of the African Union (AU), a statement by Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina said.

The statement said that Conde called on behalf of leaders of member countries of the AU to wish Buhari good health and speedy recovery.

The AU chairperson assured the Nigerian president that all African leaders stood with him in prayers.

Buhari thanked Conde for the call, and congratulated him on his election as AU chairperson during the 28th Ordinary Summit of the continental body held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in January 2017.

The Nigerian president, who could not attend the AU Summit, wished his Guinean counterpart a successful tenure.

Buhari also expressed confidence that Africa would witness improved political stability, security and economic growth during Conde’s tenure.

U.S. President Donald Trump and King Mohammed VI of Morocco, have had telephone conversations with Buhari.

King Mohammed VI and Buhari discussed the current stage of the Morocco-Nigeria Atlantic crude oil pipeline project.

The king thanked Buhari for Nigeria’s support in returning Morocco to the African Union and notified him of Morocco’s request to join the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS).

“The Moroccan king also expressed intention to make the Rabat-Abuja strategic partnership a framework for regular consultation and cooperation on African issues of mutual interest to both countries.”

Buhari is on vacation in London where he is also undergoing medical check-up.
