There was a shooting at North Park School in San Bernardino, California which left 3 dead and several injured in an apparent murder-suicide.

According to Associated Press, the shooter fired a large-caliber revolver that hit a teacher as well as two children behind her and then killed himself with the weapon.

The teacher, Elaine Smith, 53 who happens to be the wife of the shooter Cedric Anderson, 53 and one of the victims, an 8-year old boy named Jonathan Martinez, have been confirmed dead. Although the Police do not believe the children were the target.

Elaine was a teacher in the special-needs classroom for students in first through fourth grades. Police told the Associated Press that Anderson has a history of “weapons, domestic violence, and possible drug charges” before the marriage, which only lasted for a few months.

Students gathered on a field and a blacktop basketball court inside the fenced-in grounds of the campus near a line of school buses. The school has about 600 students in kindergarten through sixth grades.
