Ekiti State Police Command has been ordered to pay the sum of N20m to one Sola Aregbesola, 51 who was brutalised by officers of the command while she was in their custody.

PUNCH reports that the police arrested Sola on the orders of her husband’s alleged mistress. The alleged mistress had also attacked her with hot soup.

Sola was detained for 72 hours at Ilawe Police Station in October 2016. She said that she was almost stripped naked during when she was in custody, adding that she lost the use of one eye as a result of the brutality.

She said she was tortured, chained and beaten by the officers.

Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi of the Ekiti state High Court sitting in Ikere Ekiti also awarded another N250,000 against the police for Sola’s medical bills.
