Most of these contestants dim their chances with poor song selections. While some of them get away with it, others are not so lucky. Or am I missing something? Do they not select their songs themselves? Phew! I think if anyone sings a popular R&B song with a good voice, you’ll have at least one coach genuinely entertained and eventually turn for you. But if you decide to render a not so popular song, half of the time they’ll be wondering, “Who sang this song?”, “Is it old or new?”, “I think it’s a Beyonce’s song.”, “No, it’s Mary J. Blige’s”, “I’ve heard this song somewhere before.”, Etc. This removes their focus from your voice and you end up entertaining only yourself. With such songs, only an exceptionally good voice can re-focus their attention on your voice and give you a real shot. But what do I know? Can’t wait for the battles. Congrats to all who have made it to the next stage though.
