This styled wedding shoot took our breath away and we just had to share with our BellaNaija Weddings lovers! With the popular trend of elaborate weddings, it’s nice to see simplicity in this vintage themed wedding shoot.

Well known international photographer, AkinTayoTimi, who documents events and weddings, took these amazing photos with the help of some amazing creatives who helped bring this vision to life.

Here’s what the photographer AkinTayoTimi had to say; “This styled shoot was a collaborative effort between a florist, photographer and an event planner. We initially wanted to do a modern design shoot. However, I convinced the group to do a vintage shoot as that was lacking in the ethnic and multicultural community.”

The Location

After looking online at different vintage styled shoot inspirations, we knew that our design had to be different from what has ever been done; so, as a group, we collaborated and decided to bring the 1930’s back to 2017 with a modern twist to the vintage look.

We had the idea to title it “A Vintage Fusion Love Affair” so we could showcase and celebrate two different cultures coming together as one, hence the ‘fusion’ love affair.

The Clothes

Our colours were burgundy, peach, gold with a touch of ivory and rose gold. Although the overall shoot was vintage themed, we felt it will be a unique idea to incorporate a cultural aspect to it and we were on board with the idea. We decided to style the couple in a vintage fabric African Print called “alaari aso oke”, an African fabric from the 1930’s to celebrate the groom’s culture.

Components of the shoot that truly depicted the vintage design were the 1936 old mobile bridal car, the styling of the groom in a vintage grey suit and the bride’s low cut lace designed simple, yet elegant gown.

The Reception

Our stationery was a lace laser cut design card with a calligraphy handwritten font and we had a full suite of menu, escort & RSVP cards. The head table was dressed with a vintage lace runner, with some vintage china and gold-plated silverware and glassware.

The Cake

The wedding cake was designed with pearls and laces, and the dessert table followed suit and was set up with props that represent a vintage feel. The floral designer took the colours we agreed upon and created an impeccable floral design that is not the norm.

We would want to say a big thank you to all the vendors that participated in this shoot, that were handpicked as we wanted to make sure that they will fully understand our vision and deliver our expectations.
