Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Emmanuel Oyeleke attend Nigeria’s First Networking Conference for Photographers themed #Wewanttheyouthstoknow Sponsored by Zenith Bank
Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos was buzzing with creative energy on Friday, September 8th, 2017 as photographers from every echelon of the industry descended on Nigeria’s hub for all things artsy in what was the largest gathering of photographers yet recorded. Nearly five hundred photographers with a sprinkling of models, make-up artists and graphic designers turned up for the conference tagged #Wewanttheyouthstoknow.
Speaking at the event were renowned photographers Imole ‘Tobbinator’ Balogun, Emmanuel Oyeleke, Yomi Akanni, Prince Meyson and the doyen of photography in Nigeria, Kelechi Amadi-Obi.
The event, put together by two irrepressible young men Oritsegbemi Emore and Oluwabusayo Okusi and sponsored by Zenith Bank tackled two major issues plaguing the photography sub sector of the creative industry, namely lack of diversity in Nigeria’s photography industry, as well as the lack of a union to govern and protect the practice of photography in the country.
Both issues were addressed by all the speakers followed by a very interactive and highly entertaining question and answer session in which the attendees bared their minds and received insightful answers from the seasoned practitioners.
The high point of the event was Kelechi Amadi-Obi taking the stage to deliver his keynote address which was received with rapturous applause. For the attendees it was a fitting end to a truly valuable time with their more knowledgeable colleagues.
