Content creator and creative entrepreneur Chidera Muoka has shared her story on battling with depression on Instagram.

We applaud her strength for telling her story and we’re thankful she’s doing well health-wise.

Chidera shared how she slit her wrist in April and had battled with suicidal urges months prior to the incident.

After she was diagnosed with severe depression, she started seeing a therapist and taking medication..

The vlogger says she’s now finally feels free “and at peace to live life on my own terms”

On the 18th of April, I slit my wrist. Prior to that day I had battled with the urge of killing myself for about 3 months. Even though everyone thought (and will still say) I had (have) it all, I didn’t (don’t), I was very sad and I just wanted it to end.

That Thursday, I was diagnosed with severe depression, I was ashamed and sad that this was my new reality, but it was a step in the right direction with daily medications and a therapist.

Turning 26 is major for me because I’m alive to celebrate it. I’m alive and that’s why when I decided to do this shoot with @badmantej, it wasn’t because being semi-nude will get more engagement. It was simply because I am finally free and at peace to live life on my own terms.

This is me at 26, breathing and alive.
