Nigeria’s Men Basketball Team D’Tigers Qualifies for 2020 Olympics
Nigeria’s men basketball team have qualified for the 2020 Olympics holding in Tokyo.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers played against China and won in front of a home crowd in Guangzhou, to confirm their Olympics ticket with an 86-73 win.
With this result, Nigeria is now the top African team at the ongoing 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
D’Tigers beat African champions Tunisia to the ticket, after yesterday’s crucial win. Both teams finished with three wins from five games, but Nigeria got the ticket with better points difference.
According to Punch, Alex Nwora’s side overcame a 21-19 opening quarter loss to win 16-10, 25-20 and 26-22 in the remaining quarter. The win was D’Tigers third at the World Cup following defeats to Russia and Argentina.
Josh Okogie who recorded 16 points, three assists and five rebounds was unanimously voted as the man of the match while Nnamdi Vincent scored 14 points, two assists, and one rebound.
