‘Next Top Model’ sashays into Africa with Oluchi

I have watched every single episode of Tyra Banks’, ‘America’s Next Top Model’ since the first cycle so you can imagine my level of excitement when I opened this month’s issue of True Love West Africa and found out that ‘Next Top Model’ is coming to Africa!

Nigerian Supermodel Oluchi will be the host of the West African version of ‘Next Top Model’. See more details below.

  • TiLii November 14, 2008 at 3:21 pm

i hope when they say WEST AFRICA – they mean just that, and not have one country contestants outnumber the other

  • Mina November 14, 2008 at 7:04 pm

OMG!! i’m surprised and as well excited about this. I’m in the U.S and have watched quite a number of ANTM episodes and always wished Nigeria could have her version. And at last, here it is. Awww, how i wish i could watch it. Please bella, post the videos as soon as it starts.
Also, i love this website. I just found it online and i’m so happy as it keeps me very much updated with the happenings in naija which i always wanted. Thanks guys.

  • Omozele November 17, 2008 at 3:29 pm

I cant wait for this to start, frankly, I am tired of ANTM I think Ms Banks has saturated the media outlets with it.. Something totally different is appreciated right now… let the cat fight begin lol :)

  • Chyoma November 18, 2008 at 2:36 am

wooop! woop! luv antm, cnt wait for wantm!
    sounds like fun….xxx

  • Diana November 18, 2008 at 2:48 pm

I hope Oluchi is taking voice lessons- I have heard her speak before and I was not impressed- her English is appalling and her accent is so put-on!

  • patricia November 19, 2008 at 2:06 am

Are you for real Diana??? She is Oluchi and she can speak as she wishes!!!!!! Get real.

  • chi chi November 19, 2008 at 2:56 am

maybe you should be the one to give her some speech or voice lessons… i luv her accent u rock girl…

  • Modelchic November 19, 2008 at 9:40 pm

I agree. I find that “West Africa” often means Nigeria

  • Lamide November 20, 2008 at 1:32 am

@ Sally: I’m an ICY fan too, I’m sure the PR will be so great! Looking forward to it!!

  • Drex November 20, 2008 at 3:11 pm

    those legs are wonderful

  • john November 21, 2008 at 5:03 pm

haha. im like bella. ive literally seen every episode of ANTM. Ive seen it detoriate with every passing season, watched as the stigma of having been on ANTM meant you will never really get any modelling jobs EVER. having said that, i must add miss oluchi is FIEEERCCE!!! in nigeria now, cant WAIT for it to start!!

  • Na so! November 23, 2008 at 2:37 am

I love our continent but one thing that seems to bother me is that we are all lumped together as if we are one tiny country – which we AIN’T! So, why ‘America’s Next Top Model’, ‘Canada’s Next Top Model’, Britain’s Next Top Model’ and even ‘Australia’s Next Top Model’ but we get ‘WEST AFRICAN NEXT TOP MODEL’ and we’re supposed to be fine with that?!
Like Bella, I have watched every episode of ANTM so I am happy it’s coming to Nigeria, but what happens to the other African countries, eh?

  • ify November 25, 2008 at 2:38 pm

well Africa is a huge continent made up of different countries not State.

  • Ekachi November 25, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Please, please post the videos when WANTM begins! Being the US w/ no cable – i’m sure I will not be watching via television! And as someone getting tired of ANTM, I’ll be glad to see something new :)

  • anita November 26, 2008 at 5:37 pm

@ diana am sure if u where Oluchi by now ur own accent might be more dan the Queen’s…pls be real abeg…

  • chi9ja January 19, 2009 at 11:27 am

its not even oluchi’s voice i am worried about, i can live with the fact that her voice is deep-set, its d lack of life that i can’t take, she is so BORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

  • rita January 25, 2009 at 4:47 am

u no the girl, how u take no say she dey boring, she was the host of face of africa ,and she did a good job.and that is the main reson they gave her the contract to host wafntm.

i knew it was going to be a failure from the onset.
people think because they lived or school in
america that their is this pot of money waiting
for them anytime they arrive nigeria.
when oluchi was at the top of her game as a model
she did not give a damn about naija now when her
game no dey again she wan come naija come
dey do stuff. Make she waka. I google the top 50
best victoria secrets model and her name and picture no
dey. i beg make she go south africa or other contry
go speak her fake ibo american accent.
she is so fake ayilara ishaga girl wen sell bread for head for naija
Na so dem talk oooo now she dey tell one lady wen don pay her dues
for naija to go jump into lake.L.I is a nigerian ikon
oluchi u owe L.I an apology.
