Recession-Proof Beauty!!

CB108271Economically speaking, we know that times are hard but that does not mean that your skin has to suffer for it. In the next series of posts, I will help you learn ways to save BIG and look great while doing so. I call it “Recession Proof Beauty”.

RECESSION PROOF BEAUTY PART 1: At Home Beauty-Recipes.

If this new economy is stopping you from splurging on your favorite beauty items, you will be glad to learn of ways you can reuse the items in your fridge.

Every beauty regimen should include: Cleansing, Exfoliating, and Moisturizing, and all three can be achieved with the help of Oatmeal, Coffee, Milk, and many more.

The most important products in Kitchen-based recipes include:

Oatmeal: Help in smoothing skin and improving its complexion.

Coffee:

Coffee contains Magnesium and Vitamin E, as well as antioxidants and antibacterial agents that aid in improving your skin.

Milk: great for moisturizing skin.

Oranges: loaded with Vitamin C, oranges contain natural astringents that aid in controlling oily skins.

Yoghurt: makes an excellent cleansing and moisturizing agent for the skin.

Almonds: usually used to correct dryness and scaling of the skin, makes an excellent exfoliator when properly grounded.

Bananas: Packed with Potassium, bananas are known to work wonders as an anti-wrinkle treatment.

Honey: help in soothing out wrinkles, clearing pores and loosening skin. Also a great natural astringent and moisturizer.

Avocado: Packed with vitamins Rich in vitamins A, D, E, potassium; acts as a natural moisturizer.

Lemon: acts as a natural astringent that aids in improving skin’s complexion.

Egg: acts as a great anti-wrinkle agent.

Strawberries: contain natural acids which gets rid of dead skin cells

At-Home Beauty Recipes:

1. Want to fight wrinkles?

Banana 4 Wrinkle mask: Mash 1/4 banana until it becomes very creamy. Spread all over face and leave on for 15-20 minutes then rinse with warm and cold water.

2. Oily Skin?

Orange scrub: 1/2 of an Orange + 4 Tablespoon of cornmeal.

Squeeze orange juice (including pulp) into a bowl with cornmeal. Mix until a paste forms and then apply unto your washed face, scrub for 2-3 minutes, rinse and moisturize.

3. Dry Skin?

Yogurt and Honey Mask: 1 Tablespoon Yogurt +1 Tablespoon Honey

Mix both the yogurt and honey and apply mask to a clean face. Leave for 5-7minutes, and rinse.

4. Looking for great exfoliators and Face scrubs?

Coffee-Scrub: 3 Tablespoon Coffee (caffeinated) grounds +1 Tablespoon Salt (optional)

First start by brewing a fresh pot of coffee, get the remaining grounds and put it in a small bowl with the salt. Wait for coffee grounds to cool for 20minutes, when done, scrub over body and face while in the shower, rinse and then moisturize.

Strawberry Paste: 8 Ripe Strawberries

Mash strawberries till pasty, smooth on to face with fingers making sure you are not touching the eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes then wash afterwards.

Oatmeal Scrub: 3Tbsp Oatmeal + 3 Tbsp double cream.

Mix ingredients until you form a paste, apply to face in a circular motion before rinsing off.

Almond Face Scrub: 2 almonds + 1Tsp Lemon juice + 1 Tsp honey.

First start by grinding almonds, mix ingredients and apply to face in a circular motion. Then rinse off and moisturize.

5. Looking to Revitalize SKIN collagen, tone and Texture?

Carrots and Avocado Mask: 1 avocado + 1 carrot + 1 egg + 3tbsp Honey

Slightly bowl the carrots so you can mash them. While mash the carrots, mash the avocado, add egg and honey. Mix until pasty then spread gently over your face and neck. Leave for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with cool water.

**REMEMBER to discontinue if your skin gets easily irritated or is allergic to any of these ingredients.
