BNM Red Alert: Timix

Yes, Red Alert.

We feel you need to be warned.

We feel the need to be able to say we told you so, when our prophecies come to pass.

Since M.I hit it really big with his album and mixtape, all of a sudden it began to seem like everyone and their grandmother could pick up a mic and rap. Everyone who could string two sentences together suddenly labeled themselves MC/rappers.

We don’t have exact figures, but we’d like to think that around the period in question (Circa 2009), there was a surge in the number of drop-outs from Tertiary Institutions in the Country.

It can get really sad, especially when you see people who should otherwise be behind an office desk or studying for finals at some obscure school; sagging their pants and ‘chasing their dream’. There is no harm in that, it is just sensible to make sure the dream is worth the chase.

That said, there are people who aren’t a waste of 4 to 5 minutes of your life (depending on how long the song is). This young man, Timix fits that category. He seems to make up in 4 minutes and 16 seconds, for all of the bad music you’ve listened to so far.

He is young but prodigious nonetheless. He presents a mature perspective that is not usually in much of the music that is mainstream.

Close Your Eyes is perfect for “one of those days”. It’s simple, just lay back, press play and close your eyes.

Let’s know what you think.

Hot or Not?

    very nice

  • Peperempe July 16, 2010 at 11:40 am

BN has to take time oh. What’s this new BNM section all about? Mindless praise-singing or the promotion of struggling family members? The editor should either focus on writing an objective critique of the music or stick to a simple introduction.

This over-enthusiastic promotion of flat mediocre music is just annoying! Red alert indeed !!!

  • esrigger July 16, 2010 at 12:02 pm

This is simply awful, how can u say this is worth 4-5 min of my time. Take ya time oh and stop promoting this ish

Word of advice to Timix. There will be people who will say a bunch of crap about your music((I don’t need to name names). U will receive criticism n some will make sense and some won’t (again u shd no who). But dude, you should know, deep down(if you’re not lying to yourself) if your music was good or not. I personally liked this song n I thought that for a Nigerian kid, u tried (we nigerians seem to be trying these days anyway). So dude, keep it up. N it would seem that you really love what you’re doing so don’t give up n don’t let random, unfounded criticism get you down okay. From someone who doesn’t even like Nigerian music. In the words of Noddie n Nenus, I gatchu.

  • Mo July 19, 2010 at 6:48 pm

And a note to other people who intend to post any more comments, kindly give constructive criticism, say what was wrong with the song and don’t just post insulting comments that are rather pointless, unless you were trying to bring someone down.

  • bigfoot o’micworx July 19, 2010 at 7:35 pm

    Timix is truth!!

  • THE RICHIDIOT July 19, 2010 at 8:24 pm

    Timix,

You got your style, you got your game. Believe in yourself and what you do and it really doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks, including me. For me, you sound really great. However, you still have to work on the synchrony between your vocals and the instrumentals and also your word flow. Take it from me ( I have 10 years professional experience in the music industry and the last four in Europe/ the US): You’ve got something worth every effort and penny you put in. Go bro!!! Peace.

  • SMYL July 20, 2010 at 7:49 pm

Hip hop is a culture, that’s all you need to put in your music.
You can be an Angelique Kidjo in your genre or a local CHAMP. Its your call.
Your instrumental is great, lovely chorus melody but your culture is lost.
Or Hope chocolate factory would promote you, ( you may need to become a Jos boy)
This is a great attempt and with your culture in, the world would accept you without stress.
Asa is a good example of world class though she only performs for the rich. we her fans can’t afford to watch her performance. Great Work. Keep working, people always talk, this is just my opinion.
It’s most Important you listen to God.
