‘Tribal Romance Revisted’: Zed-Eye Spring/Summer 2011 Collection
Posted on Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 at 1:41 PMBy Ijeoma Ndekwu
Zed-Eye showcased its Spring/Summer collection; “Tribal Romance Revisited” at the recently concluded London Fashion Week Catwalk Show.
For accountant turned uber talented designer Ngozi Pere-Okorotie who has had her pieces worn by celebrities including Kelis, Shingai (The Noisettes), celebrity hairdresser Tara Smith and renowned British designer Henry Holland, the collection is a return to her earlier collection; “Tribal Romance”.
Zed-Eye on “Tribal Romance Revisited” :
“The Collection is a rich combination of textures, colours and silhouettes in which acid bright silks, chiffon, and romantic shapes are effortlessly combined with vivid patterned ethnic prints. These opposing elements come together to create a dazzling collection of juxtapositions seemingly wooing each other into courtship.
Flashes of current trends are evident throughout the collection with slouchy trousers, high waisted skirts, structured dresses, and Zed- Eye’s signature jackets adapted for the summer. The Zed-Eye signature styles remain very evident and this collection is on set to transcend times and trends alike.
The line up is classic with lashings of character oozing through with materials, colours and textures that flirt, dance, clash yet complement each other. This titillating collection is a flirtatious love dance of high style, skill and fantasy“
I love the colours and textures and how she uses it to create a dynamic fusion of soft romantic fabrics, frill details and the Victorian love affair to something a lot more raw, authentic and visually captivating like the African print. The collection offers great ‘stand- alones’ and fashion-forward clashes.

Since I have NOTHING nice to say about any of this- I will keep my comments to myself*
lets see what you ve produced yoself to come up with a statement like that. i think the designs are great and very funky.
You gats to be kidding, mich! It’s her opinion, and you should respect it and not try to impose yours…
thats prolly a good decision…i mean, whats not to like about this…ethnic and original…its refreshing
Rihanna will love these… the model looks like her though.
I love the last picture….Well done!!!
Thank you so much Bellanaija, and Ijeoma Idekwu for the post and great review, very grateful for all your support all these years, thank you again to you and your team:-)

I love all the skirts and the mini blue dress. Nice collection.
I love some of it, a lot of them are giving me ‘Gone With the Wind’ with the poofy hands and necks, and I feel some of the proportions are wrong. I like the tailoring tho. Will probably blog about these today on http://kilonsparkles.blogspot.com
LOVE U KILONSPARKLESSSSSSSS!!!!!!
the model’s got beautiful legs!

Very niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Loves the collection! Has seen her previous collections, and love the designs. Clothes that I would actually wear as I am besotted with the regality and demeanour of the Victorian era. I love this collection and have my eye on the blouses and skirts. Loves this!!!xxx

I MEAN SHE IS ALSO A FAB STYLIST LOOOK SHE HAS AN EYE CANT YOU SEEEEEEE!!!!! GOSH!!!!
Very interesting. Lose the headgear and most of the accessories, and it’s all quite wearable. Rather remarkable collection. Nice job!
Not my cup of tea but kudos to the designer for delivering something unique!
iWant, iLike
No thanks!! Dont want any of these.
I was brought up to believe that if you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing, if you don’t want to wear it, DON’T. No need for silly comments, we should all be mature about CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Keep up the love and peace people.
Simon, she’s got just as much right to her opinion as you do yours, and I am sure when Zi decided to employ this public forum, they knew they’d have to take the negative along with the positive.
Thank you Lola, Maybe you misunderstand me, I’m not saying she is not entitled to her opinion, notice I said we should employ constructive criticism, I found her comment to be rude, not an opinion in any way, Kilonsparkles for example had a lot to say about the collection, none of it was rude, but very constructive both good and bad. That is the kind of response that I think is appropriate, no ones opinion is more valid than anothers, but rudeness is not necessary.
Who is this Model? She is Beautiful! I love the head scarf… adds a proper tribal touch!
I’m a huge fan of Zi and these designs are creative, stand out and yet wearable!
With the knowledge I have now of what goes into creating each piece of a collection – gotta give it to Zedeye – well done! Fantastic mix of old and new, colour and prints.
Loves it

I wouldn’t wear, too funky for me and I don’t think I can swing the look (except maybe the first Jacket) BUT!!! I love the pieces!! They are way funky and I’m sure they’ll suit slimmer silhouttes, people who have a lot of swag can rock these looks….I am impressed!! Well done and more grease to your elbows!!

@ Lola + 1..
they will make me look fat… *smh*
BTW this is hot…am too short for the trousers tho
Me Likey! I like different elements of the different outfits eg the chain print on the inner thigh of the sky blue trousers and the contrast against the white blouse. I will have a look at the site. I am a massive fan of jumpsuits, there are not enough put in the strore so I am always excited when I see them glammed up. I would like to see some jumpsuits with sleeves though…. Overall
kudos! I loved last piece terribly! Anyways, I wisI was the one doing the photo shoot…
This is wonderful….i would rock every single piece …wow …love love love ….thumbs up 2 the designer
Hey everyone:) I think the collection is very fashion-forward, funky and wearable. It may not be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ but it pushes the boundaries which is refreshing. I think you have to possess confidence to pull off some of the more voluminous pieces which I personally love. Congratulations Zi! That model is fierce and if I saw her on the street during my lunch break rocking any of those looks I doubt I’d be very productive after lunch.

Another wonderful collection, was a pleasure to see Zed Eye re emerge at London Fashion Week. Her show along side Bunmi Coco for me were the out standing highlights. So good to see such talented Nigerians making dramatic inroads into the arena of International High Fashion.

This is really refreshing. tribal romance is a nice concept. I really like the 6th pic and the last one. the colors and shapes are on point! I wish the actors in Nollywood movies could wear some of these to showcase different styles…
I thought the designs were just on point and this season must have. It’s an inspiration for me as am trying my hands on creating small pieces. Job well done to the designer
