Obsidian presents its ‘Dux Femina Facti’ collection; Latin for ‘A woman was the leader of the exploit’ – the main inspiration for this collection came from the strength and grace of ancestral African female leaders. Utilising a clever mix of silk and crystal organza, crushed taffeta and faux-coral hand beading as well as a vivid color palette , the collection is bewitching and elegant .

The lookbook features Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model Season 7 Contestant Ufuoma Itoje who is positively iridescent in her role as a modern siren. She is grace personified in the label’s lady-like silhouettes.

      Nice concept.

      • gee August 25, 2011 at 5:08 PM

Just there…no wow factor. Great attempt though….

      • nky August 25, 2011 at 5:53 PM

its a nyce concept for the designer but model don’t have to bare all??? just don’t see the need. our bodies are the temple of God.

    • omophunk August 25, 2011 at 4:30 PM

Ha!, awon eleyi, awon eleyi, won baadt gaan!

    • Mademoiselle August 25, 2011 at 4:41 PM

Ufuoma should have been in the top 5. This year’s BNTM IS THE MOST BORING EVERRRR!!! I tire!!! I think they just included black girls to make the show seem more cosmopolitan. And no, I’m not being biased. Those have always been my two cents about BNTM…
Anyway, more grease to your elbows my dear. That said, nice collection. Can defs rock some of those pants

      • Onyx August 26, 2011 at 1:27 PM

I thought I recognized the model! I see those bare shots Elle made them do at the begining have allowed her to become verrryyy comfortable about her body … :-D

      • Lola August 30, 2011 at 12:09 AM

I was sure I’d seen the model before. With regards to the clothes, what exactly are we looking for?

    • Lue August 25, 2011 at 4:46 PM

      hhhmmmmmmmmmm……………nice nice one

    • Alero August 25, 2011 at 4:51 PM

Nude tins! so if the model isnt topless, we wont see the clothes properly? Mstcheeeew!BN, pls i want to see my comments oh.

    • samsie August 25, 2011 at 5:07 PM

I see lola maja..hellos I wantttttttt that yellow blouse..its crying my name..I love this and I love the idea of sometimes its just the piece on d canvas of a bare body..the sheer thought of that is absolutely creative..yes..sometimes you are perfect the perfect accessory to a piece of clothing..its all about you.wear your body well..stay proud of it.

      • Mytwopennies August 26, 2011 at 12:19 AM

what has lola maja got to do with his collection?

      • Alero August 26, 2011 at 9:39 AM

you can as well move around in your birthday suit.#Rolling my eyes#

      • Helen September 6, 2011 at 11:42 AM

How is the idea of just a piece on a bare body hmmmm Creative….Seriously?!!!

    • Lotty August 25, 2011 at 5:20 PM

U know the only difference is d material but this styles r just ok. Its alright tho good luck to all Nigerian Designers

    • Layo August 25, 2011 at 5:51 PM

What is it with her being nude…..and d purple background not workin for me….not bad sha

    • miss B August 25, 2011 at 5:52 PM

Na wa o, only that shoe to rock all of those outfits, the collection is ok, no “wow” factor, but I love the 2nd dress and the beaded crop jacket too, the background colour is not doing it for me, it seemed like space was limited, not feeling the set, no props no nothing………

    • Tiki August 25, 2011 at 6:04 PM

Nice one…love the yellow skirt esp! Couldnt they have found another way to showcase it without her going topless though? Not caz i’m a prude or anything, but i dont think the concept did justice to the clothing.

    • sade August 25, 2011 at 6:38 PM

      uhmm…ok i guess???

    • pitchy August 25, 2011 at 6:57 PM

      very nice concept

    • sonalove August 25, 2011 at 7:17 PM

the dresses are nice but seriously have we started dis kind of shoots in Nigeria already… pretty sickening to see her(d model) half nude…. creativity is no excuse for promoting immorality

      • Tochi August 31, 2011 at 8:35 PM

        yeah, u are so right

    • pelu gbogbostic August 25, 2011 at 7:29 PM

great stuff! I like the intro description to the collection. but nawa ooo…only one orange shoe for the whole collection? things must be tight. the model is beautiful but her torso looks short in some of the pics…like the 1st one, with that angled pose and the 4th one with that (high-waisted panty) . all in all, good work and brilliant concept.

    • bebe August 25, 2011 at 7:32 PM

nice…the 3rd piece looks a lot like a dress tiwa sawage wore to one of those events a while ago!

    • nina August 25, 2011 at 7:33 PM

these do nothing for me at all. Need to go back to the drawing board. Just saying.

    • konnie August 25, 2011 at 7:40 PM

Why is the lady nude or almost nude in some shots.
      Rather distracting..
Some nice outfits. Stick to featuring clothes

    • Maks August 25, 2011 at 8:55 PM

Apart from the second dress, everything else looks like they have been hastily put together considering that each piece goes for more than $200, I expected more. This is not the first collection for this brand and we expect upwards progression.

I looked at the dress again it is awful considering you see better from GREY, JBL and virgos lounge.

    • temisan August 26, 2011 at 6:32 AM

Thank you my dear for that commet. I am a bit dissapointed because this isn’t obsidans first collection and nowadays we see so many good stuff from Grey, Babushka, Virgos Lounge, Eyola, Nkwo, April by kunbi and Republic of foreigner just to name a few. I like the concept and love the cropped jacket but eerything else looks a bit messy to me. Isoken has a good vision. She just needs to execute it better next time because nowadays, there is no excuse for mediocre and badly finished designs.

    • Clara August 26, 2011 at 9:12 AM

Clothes, model( 2 short) photography….Not good.

    • moses August 26, 2011 at 9:52 AM

      fresh…………….

    • Janet August 26, 2011 at 11:24 AM

why don’t change pair of your shoes baby gal?
      LD

    • cheekah August 26, 2011 at 11:35 AM

good to put out…guess you still can put your best feet forward, kuddos!it ain’t that easy, you know…I cut you just some slack…

    • BrownSugah August 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM

      http:/nitabrownsugah.wordpress.com

    • Demmy August 26, 2011 at 3:32 PM

Really nice stuff but there’s no need to go naked you know. Some of the designs are just wacky

    • torex August 26, 2011 at 3:42 PM

Really!!!!!!!!!wats with da nude pictures dis no more fashion its crazyyyyyyyyyyyyy

    • tpop August 26, 2011 at 4:02 PM

But I’ve seen PARTIAL nudity in loads of fashion images, i dont think its a new thing. Also what is wrong with a picture of the human form? These pictures don’t turn me on, they aren’t pornographic. Or maybe its just me lol

    • Sunshinebaby August 26, 2011 at 4:31 PM

Nice concept, but poor finishing….my thots

    • Truth be told August 26, 2011 at 6:27 PM

poor finishing….if these really goes for $200 then she needs to get her act up. or is it the fabric she uses?

    • tallchica August 27, 2011 at 3:20 AM

Hmm….give the girl a shirt….not necessary. Distracted from the finishing of the pieces.

    • nkem minaj August 27, 2011 at 7:44 AM

true! just 1 pair of shoes tho??n also even if we wanted to see a topless model, this shouldnt be her….this obsidian babe is really trying her best and its just not jah-ing for her!!

    • dlapikin August 27, 2011 at 10:09 AM

too much photoshop it is distractive… looks like a bad montage!

    • sade thompson August 27, 2011 at 4:14 PM

The concept not properly thought out, semi nudity has been used to sell products in appopriate situations but this is rather distracting and out of place. You really have to plan an idea before using it, I mean what will a topless woman be going standing on a corridor, did she look herself out of her room? Also the finishing of some of those garment were not good enough. The model however I admire for being a true manniquin but some of the poses didn’t do her justice. in all the criticism you will find the basis for a better presentation next time. Keep the flag flying

    • nwando August 28, 2011 at 11:17 PM

I don’t think going topless for the world to see means one is comfortable in one’s skin.
      Ok collection though..

    • aagirl August 30, 2011 at 12:08 PM

      The clothes are mostly indecent.

    • chioma August 30, 2011 at 9:32 PM

There would have been other ways of matching the costumes without being topless. Nakedness on screen shouldn’t be encouraged esp by models. It is a Faux Pas 4 me

    • Angela August 30, 2011 at 9:52 PM

      Nice collection. Lovely pix too…

    • adadadi September 2, 2011 at 4:18 AM

pls wat exactly are we looking @?
