On Saturday 26th May 2012, the highly anticipated comedy and music show – The African Kings of Comedy finally took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The show organised by Baron’s World Entertainment in conjunction with Trace Urban, kicked off at 6 PM and saw comedic performances by Basketmouth, Okey Bakassi, Loyiso Gola, Ndumiso Lindi, Bovi, Buchi, Akpororo, Daliso Chaponda, Funny Bone, I Go Dye,Dan D Humorous, Sim Card, I Go Save and many others. What’s a night of comedy without music? Some of Nigeria’s top artistes including Davido, 2Face, Tiwa Savage, M.I., Timi Dakolo, Wizkid, Brymo, Jesse Jagz, Vector, Iyanya, Eva, Chuddy K, Darey Art-Alade, K-Mos, Black Magic, Mo’Eazy and a host of others kept all attendees dancing with their hit tracks.
Also in attendance were Dame Abimbola Fashola, Funmi Iyanda, Freeze, Julius Agwu, Linda Ikeji, Jay Jay Okocha, AY, Tayo Shonekan, Lanre DaSilva Ajayi, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Zaina, Tee A, Dan Foster and lots more.

I like Tiwa Savage. She is the leading female artist in Nigeria’s music business because she doesn’t take herself seriously and is doing what other females have been afraid and are still afraid to do–>Express themselves! What Tiwa is doing is nothing new but is a breath of fresh air in the Nigerian music industry where the female artist’s point of view is usually restricted to being sweet, boring, run-of-the-mill, Afrocentric, with no personality. There are other females I like for being daring (I don’t like their music)- Mo’Cheddah, Goldie, Muna etc.
there’s nothing wrong with being afrocentric! those afrocentric artistes have more personality and talent than tiwa can ever possess in this lifetime and the next.

I can’t get enough of Tiwa. My non African friends like her songs because even though they don’t understand yoruba they know she’s singing about love. Yoruba language is so sweet to the ears. Anyway, she looks beautiful as always. You go, girl.

I hope the non-Nigerian comedians were able to thrill the guests sha. Culture differences may make it difficult to flow. I once watched Night of a Thousand Laughs -Kenya. thank God some Naija comedians were there cos the other guys were just meh to me, yet all their country people were laughing.
