BN Bytes: D’Banj Makes a Cameo in the New G.O.O.D. Music Video | Watch the Stunning Music Video of Kanye West Feat. Big Sean, Pusha T & 2 Chainz – Mercy

The moment I heard this video dropped yesterday… I had my fingers crossed to see if Naija’s very own D’Banj would make the music video. And, well, since it was a G.O.O.D. Music affair, I wasn’t surprised the moment I saw D’Banj “swerve” or when I saw a certain someone dancing the “Koko” dance (a very funny one at that) in the back.

“Mercy” is the first single from the forthcoming G.O.O.D. Music collaboration album and to me, in this sleek minimalist video, I just saw the G.O.O.D. Music family having fun; make sure you look out for D’Banj.

Check on it.

  • timi June 7, 2012 at 10:55 am

the beginning of d banjs slide into oblivion!

    • My thoughts exactly June 7, 2012 at 2:24 pm

Mhen you can say that again. Anyway, looks like he is the guy who made the last un-noticed appearance (flying across like a bat) at the end of video :-) I wish him luck though, but honestly i think he made a mistake leaving the don jazzy crew

    • Me June 7, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Too bad Kanye is just using D’banj. I think he should have stayed with Don Jaz . . .

  • Unbeatable June 7, 2012 at 10:59 am

Dis must be a joke oh please!!!!!!!!!

  • Audrey June 7, 2012 at 11:06 am

Please I couldn’t locate D’banj oh. can someone help me? Anyway, what is the song and video about? I couldn’t make head and tail of it,heish! SMH

  • kem June 7, 2012 at 11:08 am

hahahahaha is he one of d crew

  • Gidi June 7, 2012 at 11:14 am

BN,try and be considerate to your readers.
Enough of this Dbanj drama. It is beginning to look like a sick joke.

  • whalley_Richboy June 7, 2012 at 11:23 am

Like seriously, am befuddled at why people (Nigerians) keep hating on this guy. Dude is on his grind, he took a somewhat bizarre risk but with luck and support (hello Nigerians!), he just might be the next big thing out of Nigeria after Fela. Cut him some slack, please!!!

    • Uloma June 7, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Richboy take that back! D’banj and Fela in the same sentence?…no no no…

    • Gidi June 7, 2012 at 1:09 pm

      Dbanj and Fela?
May Olodumare himself forgive you for such sacrilege and abominable comment.

    • Me June 7, 2012 at 11:48 pm

LOL. D’banj like Fela? lol. you tell good jokes. Wait let me compare… Fela sings about human condition, D’banj sings about his koko. Fela came up with a new rhythm, D’banj came up with koko mansion. Fela is not a sell out, need I complete this sentence? Fela knows where to find his koko, D’banj is still looking for his koko. . .

    • faith June 8, 2012 at 7:30 am

Been waiting for yor response!ℓ‎oℓ‎ always defending dbanj.

  • Berry Choco Latte June 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

Wait, where’s D’banj? And why do I feel confused after watching the video? :-S

  • D Pretty June 7, 2012 at 12:09 pm

    Enjoy

    • Berry Choco Latte June 7, 2012 at 1:18 pm

Really? That was him? Erm, ok

  • Uloma June 7, 2012 at 12:19 pm

hahaha!..oh man D’banj is going to get dropped from Good Music sooo fast. His contract there will be shorter than this silly Cameo…

    • gg June 7, 2012 at 9:27 pm

God forbid. how can u wish someone such bad luck

  • Couture By Makioba June 7, 2012 at 12:26 pm

u pple should stop hating abeg i saw dbanj like 3 times there, how come some pple r still saying they cant find him…

  • purplepearl June 7, 2012 at 12:28 pm

D’banj!!!! i see you. …ppl look closely towards the end of the video

  • Daniel June 7, 2012 at 12:30 pm

From 5.00 you will see D’banj.

@whalley-Richboy – No one is really hating on the guy but Fela did not become big by making cameo appearances in Kanye West’s videos and flapping his hands like a bird as D’banj did in this video.

  • bella June 7, 2012 at 12:33 pm

    the video no even show

  • Flex June 7, 2012 at 12:49 pm

HAHAHA!!! When watching the video…please tell me that you noticed one person doing the KOKO dance and jumping all over the place, he even danced behind Kanye doing some steering wheel dance thing sef. I gbadu his hustle jare. Is it beans to be on Kanye’s video with Kid Cudi, Big Sean and the rest?

    • 9Grian June 7, 2012 at 1:11 pm

Na by force to be on kanye’s video and the rest of the gang? He didn’t even sing one line, the only part they gave him was to jump around. So sad! he traded his well flourishing career with mohits to come a be a back up dancer with kanye all in the name of wanting to make it big. SMH.

  • omalicha June 7, 2012 at 1:07 pm

my friend just ask ‘why is dbanj jumping around like evil spirit? I cant shout

  • jokky June 7, 2012 at 1:21 pm

    D’banj is just been used….Houseboy

  • Abs June 7, 2012 at 1:21 pm

so did Kanye had to show his face this many times? I didnt see Dbanj unless he’s the dude who ‘flew’ outta d video at the very end! smh

no my dear takin risks isn’t disgracing your self behaving like tse-tse fly in the name of cameo, taking risk is globalising ur music and ur image through collaborations of global artists in ur album under the record label that made u a king in ur continent simples

  • ushees June 7, 2012 at 2:57 pm

awwww….he just doesnt fit,his kind of music is totally diff frm kanyes, pls dbanj come back home…ur a king in nija

  • SAMUEL GEORGE June 7, 2012 at 3:15 pm

@Ushees tell am well well say Lucky dube , Bob marley, Angelique Kidjo and many more did not need to follow follow an American rappers to be great. even M.Jackson self did not. He can be greater than even M. Jackson from naija mugu like him.

  • Anon June 7, 2012 at 3:29 pm

D’banj, abeg stop disgracing yourself, pack your loads and come back home. Kanye is deceiving you, and you are falling for it. It’s not that easy for an African artist with African music to break into the American audience like that. Unless, you are doing Jazz or rap or R&B, where your talent stands out. Just do remix, and collaborations not sign with an American label.

  • Amina June 7, 2012 at 3:37 pm

    I cant find Dbanj o!

  • cathy June 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm

hahahahahah my oh my, your comments?????? so hilarious

  • Sidney June 7, 2012 at 4:13 pm

Haba! Why would anyone call D’Banj a back up dancer? Lol. Are you going to pretend you didn’t see Kid Kudi, Chi the Prince, Teyana etc? Too bad D’Banj has so much personality and isn’t as timid among other people as some unexposed Nigerians. I’ve being saying this for a while that Nigerians will ignore his gradual success in the UK as a solo star because they’re more interested in finding faults with him and seeing him fail.

He has taken a huge risk and one should hope for the best. You lot must be scared of taking risks to not support this guy. Is it a crime to take your career to the next level? The US is one tough market to crack into and I applaud him for giving it a shot. its better than being satisfied with making shitty dance music with the same formula-using catchy Yoruba/pidgin phrases- for Nigerians to gbedu to. It makes no sense why someone shouldn’t want change to me.

I dont understand your problem though. I did not expect to see D’Banj in every scene of the video because isn’t a well-known singer..yet. Allow him jor

    • TRUTH June 7, 2012 at 8:19 pm

no my dear takin risks isn’t disgracing your self behaving like use-tse fly in the name of cameo, taking risk is globalising ur music and ur image through collaborations of global artists in ur album under the record label that made u a king in ur continent simples

      • lilly June 7, 2012 at 10:17 pm

HAHAHAHAHA….”disgracing yourself like a use tse-tse fly”…LMAO… BN commentators una no go kill me biko. D’banj hope you succeed.

      • Sidney June 8, 2012 at 7:38 am

Kid Kudi was dancing crazy as well so why only pick on D’Banj’s dance? You know D’Banj has always being kuku in the head so why is it all brand new to Nigerians now?

Aren’t Tuface, Wiz, and PSquare signed to Konvict now? Tuface has been collaborating with several known artists in the states for years but has that made him an international act rather than an African act? No! (By the way, that’s not taking risk). Do you think Hypertek ent/ EME/ Square records, all Nigerian record labels, can do a better job at promoting and managing their careers in the US than Konvict music? hell no! You need partnerships and international support support. Even someone as great as Bob Marley (based in Jamaica) was also signed to a US record label and his career was pushed on by a British label back then. Fela had the backing of some international record labels so what is your argument? You don’t know the music business and you simply don’t like D’Banj.

I understand you all love Mo’Hits and all but let that shit go! Mo’Hits is done! Go and buy Mavin records/albums! People will find faults anywhere. I don’t care for his cameo because it does nothing for him. You guys would have nagged if he was not in the video, saying he missed the video shoot because he was doing his night shift. lol
I hope he puts all simple-minded Nigerians to shame with success (even if I know they will ignore that and insult something else about him). I know everyone will not share similar views but people are sounding way too bitter.

    dbanj park wella lmao

  • brrap June 7, 2012 at 4:18 pm

I can bet u a lot dat if dbanj makes it in yankee, he still will not be half as successful as he was (and wld hav continued to be)in naij under mohits. He was #1 in Africa. Yes i said it.. He cld hav conquered d world from africa, wit his pride n dignity intact. All he needed was a little more effort and time. He already had a solid team behind him..instead he goes over to america to begin toiling all over again. I mean he paid his dues in his jjc days so i dont understand y he wants to start all over again. Lightening doesnt strike twice on d same spot. If he makes more more money than he’s making or made in naij its just going to be bcos said currency has higher value than the naira. But anyway, more koko to his elbow.. he really needs it.

  • pynk June 7, 2012 at 4:53 pm

He went from being the king in the jungle to being a stray dog in the city.

  • TTG June 7, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Haha. Dbanj!! I only watched the video to see him. Congrats man!

  • Lizzy Wilson June 7, 2012 at 5:18 pm

I can’t seem to understand the excitement about d’banj making it to Good music video. D’banj one of the biggest artists in Africa, went from that to someone who feels very lucky to be allowed to make an unnoticed appearance in some silly video and people are getting excitted? Why exactly? Is it because the vidoe was made by Kanye West? Well if we Africans regard them to be that big, we would still be playing their songs in our clubs instead of ours but the reverse is the case and there is a reason for that. D’banj has made better video and better songs but he allowed his ego reduce him to this… sorry to say but I can’t see it going uphill for him from here.

  • eddyyayo June 7, 2012 at 5:34 pm

abeg make una leave d’banj alone, d career na him own, the moni na him own, d life na him own, weda he make it or not, its not ur business, i no no who send una to tok all dis rubbish, in dis life u must take a risk to make sumtin big happen,2moro if he’s successful u’ll start hailing him again

  • wow June 7, 2012 at 5:38 pm

what absolute nonsensical and atrocious lyrics……..i listen to rap quite alright but not such bullocks like this….give me jcole, nas, kendrick,Em and a few intelligent rappers….im still trying to give dbanj benefit of doubt but the day i hear nigga, bitch or hoe in his music as a nigeian/african …thats the day i will be officially done with him…..nonsense lyrics……Even our African rap artist are repping…especially my faves Mi and Eva..:)

  • Naomi June 7, 2012 at 5:52 pm

I personally don’t like D’Banj and can’t stand Kanye, but good for him(D’Banj) for making a cameo in the video. Let’s see how far he goes!

  • TRUTH June 7, 2012 at 8:13 pm

its like they told him to act stupid for 3 seconds and move out of the camera for the real stars! smh when will this man kno that these people r just usin him to make money, ul see he’ll become the next kid cudi, one hit wonder in the globe and 1 global feature then they’ll stop investing in him, see how he’s even actin like tse-tse fly in the video! so pathetic! smh DBANJ WISE UP! WERE LIKE A KING IN NAIJA PLEASE DONT BE DOWNGRADED TO A HOUSEBOY! SMH

  • SAMUEL GEORGE June 7, 2012 at 8:31 pm

What will Dbanj rapp, sing or dance over there? Mugu like him. At his age and level he still dey monkey around American rappers wey no get structures to position there own Hip Hop or rap music till now.Instead of building his own world.

  • marvel June 7, 2012 at 10:22 pm

Gosh.. Hating has truly become a hobby and pastime in Nigeria. Which idiot thinks that Nigerians are happy ppl again?

  • cool cat June 8, 2012 at 1:00 am

Yayyy, “american greed” is on. Not all that glitters is gold.

The tsetse fly comment…I’m in stitches ooo.

Funny how some pple change their opinions on different posts. Choose one!

  • konnie June 8, 2012 at 3:28 am

Someone should remind him that he left hear a top dog. Hopefully this will work out for him. I got tired of watching the video. Never got to see him. this video and music is ….

  • jlive June 8, 2012 at 4:12 am

You guys are a disgrace, really shaking my head. Its sad to see Africans and their negativity wonders shall never end. Your brother is trying so hard to introduce Afro-pop in America and you guys are there sitting with your miserable lives writing trash. This was a “cameo” for goodness sake, are you also saying that all the other members like kid cuddie who also cameo are wrong. So you want him to die a local hero all his life?

Do you not want to enter an American club one day and actually hear African music the way you hear Jamaican music everywhere? Those Jamaicans are in America everyday trying to promote their music. Now they play Oliver twist on national radios in London, do you guys think it would have been possible without the Kanye deal? His is also trying to bring def jam to African and is building the foundation now. There are two people in this world, d’banj was not satisfied just being a local champion, he wanted more, for himself and African music. You can call him Oliver twist.

  • love June 8, 2012 at 7:25 am

D’banj, please stop. What was that about? I thought the whole purpose was for you to get more shine not fade away. Other artists in GOOD music, haven’t achieved much in the past years. So, I don’t know what superpower you are depending on because it’s unrealistic. Kanye, will just continue to ask you to follow him around like an assistant.

  • ATM 2010 June 8, 2012 at 8:33 am
