“Spring Splash” – House of Silk (HOS) Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook
Posted on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 at 1:44 PMBy Damilare Aiki
Since establishing House of Silk (HOS) in January 2009, the design label’s creative director Jennifer Adighije, has been showcasing her most creative pieces season after season. Now she presents her label’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection “Spring Splash”.
The collection which features a parade of romantic floral dresses, spandex drapes with waist cinching inner belts by the designer, are fluid, relatively quiet and uber glam.
Also featuring exquisite modern cuts, the sweeping frocks were designed in pretty plain silks mixed with rich border prints with varied degrees of embellishment, to give the collection a more evening look. A few minis in a unique Ankara-and-lace combination are apparent and present a classy cocktail look for spring.
Let’s not bore you with talk, check out the collection.

Finally HOS produced something worth talking about, LOVE IT LOVE IT. Keep it up jennifer.
The first black boubou thing is so dramatic that I love it! And the Ankara lace cocktail dress is adorable. This designer gets dissed a lot (may be its personal) but I think she improves every season. She seems committed to making luxurious versions of what she knows Nigerian women already want as opposed to trying to be on the cutting edge. I love Maki Oh because that is closer to what I wear but I think Nigeria needs both kinds of designer.
Perfection!: http://cdn.bellanaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/IMG_5854.jpg
Woooooooww » breadtakingly gorgeous
Love it!! It can only get better jenny…shining brighter and brighter..the glory of the latter always supercedes the former
Her problem Season after season is, the pieces are sooo different, they are not working together as a collection! Too many elements jamming together in a colllection.
I can see 3 distinct stories with one maybe 2 orphans. This isn’t unusual even from established western designers especially at the contemporay level. And considering her clients are individuals rather than large chains of department stores with strict buying and merchandising guidelines its even less relevant. Hos customer wants to walk into the store and find diversity, not a sea of same to prove the designer knows how to edit. Jennifer doesn’t have handbag sales and perfume sales to keep her business afloat, she must sell clothes.
Right now all are designers are racing to emulate the west but only on the most superficial level, without asking WHY their system operates the way it does and is it relevant to our local markets. It’s the way that some people hope that Nollywood movies will look like Hollywood movies one day despite the fact Hollywood has lost its way and is struggling to please viewers. The western system is their system and when we go there we must play by their rules but on home territory we can define our own.
Your point is valid because it is true that without clarity it will be hard to define the DNA of her brand, but at this stage where the average Nigerian designer is a glorified dressmaker with a small but loyal band of ” groupies” who are happy to build their wardrobe in one place, any designer interested in the bottom line would be foolish not to take advantage of that.
TL:DR
If dis collection was centerd around d 1st 3pieces twld av bin brilliant. Those ankara pieces didn’t fit in! D last piece is definatly local. Dear designers presentation of ur pieces is everytin! All this unecessary pose of models isn’t necessary! *rant over* thers room 4developmnt. Bella post my comment, iwas only advising.
well done Jenny, looked like a collection in chiffon you did one time, I have a piece. nice work keep it up. The pics were nice, I dont think you people have seen local tailors caling themselves designer sha ok o, even a blog wrote about one how awful the pieces were to the eyes. kudos my dear keep it up
They are all very nice pieces individually. And I Love the added african prints. It shows versatility. She doesn’t need to use 11 fabric to make a collection. Watch fashion TV and see what’s in. Colour blocking fabric blocking etc
Those short dresses are to die for!
lmao, why are nigerian models always angry??? abi is the sun shinning too much on their faces??
I absolutely love these. Love!!!!
I would have chosen a more elegant setting and location though. But the clothes are lovely. Been to her store…serious eye candy.
Beautifullllllllllllllllllllllllllllll is the word!

i like the natural ambiance – trees, rocks…. the last pic has this 007 vibe- cool. but i must agree with Ife and Buggy. the pieces are not cohesive enough to ‘be’ a collection. Although they are beautiful, they dont tell the same story. Some of the pieces seemed to me like they were part of a resort collection, while others were not.
