Jonathan, Obasanjo & Otedola meet in Aso Rock

For several months, news about a rift between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have made the news headlines. The two have openly criticized each other’s approaches to governance on several grounds, especially the Boko Haram insurgency. However, in a bid to mend fences, they worshipped together yesterday at the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, and thereafter had lunch.
Reuben Abati, special adviser to the President on Media and Publicity tweeted the picture above with the message “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan worshipped together today at the Aso Rock Villa Chapel; also had lunch“.
Punch reports that the former President was accompanied to the Villa by two of his daughters, one of his sons identified simply as Juwon, and a businessman, Femi Otedola.
Otedola, Chairman of Zenon Oil & Gas is the one who allegedly offered a $620,000 bribe to Farouk Lawan & Boniface Enemalo who are currently in prison awaiting the hearing of their bail application. According to him, he did it to expose their corrupt activities.
A source in the chapel told Punch that Obasanjo read the second lesson of the service and led a prayer session. At the end of the service, he was also said to have visited the Children’s church in company of Jonathan. He also offered prayers for the children. The former President was said to have thereafter followed the President to his official residence where they had a lunch meeting before he departed the Villa.

Many have criticized the presence of Femi Otedola at the Villa which comes during the ongoing trial of Lawan & Boniface Enemalo saying the Presidency is obviously taking sides with him.
What are your thoughts on the visit? Do you think mending fences between Obasanjo and Jonathan is a good move?

There’s more to everything we see and hear about all these politicians. May God help Nigeria from wicked ppl’ who disguise as light Very soon, the reign of d wicked ppl in Nigeria will come to an end IJN…
There is nothing wrong in mending fences. But what does Femi Otedola wants in Aso Rock. Otedola should have been pushed back knowing fully well what happened/going on between him and Farouk.
WHO CARES?
The moment such visit gains momentum such as better education, health and road system, corruption is aptly addressed and eradicated, Nigerian money becomes valuable (i.e. N1 = $1) and there is a concrete feasible plan for the generations unborn, we will rightly be able to analyse whether mending fences (between whoever) is a good move. However, asking embittered, angry overly raped citizen if looters and evil minded people mending fences is a good move is…a bad move (this on a lighter note).
Femi set Facrook up na, just to prove his claim dat dey are all corrupt and he’s also part of them…So dt we wld all know he’s isn’t as innocent as his perceived to be!
Wait o, is Otedola not suppose to be in the prison with Faruk Lawal? or are they telling me that giving bribe is not a crime while collecting bribe is. Naija i too fear una o.
Otedola did not offer Farouk bribe. We never get our stories straight. Farouk extorted the money after which Mr Otedola used his connections to get the authorities involved as he was being intimidated
dippy thanx for your comment…………………you are the only one who seems to be using head and brain here……………………Nigerians just like talking without proper knowledge of what is the matter.
somebody is clueless…
@ dippy what do you mean get your story straight, cant you see question mark there? you should read well too.
You guys are not in the know – Femi Otedola and GEJ are good friends. Otedola was probably the only major businessman who stood by GEJ when the Yar’Adua cabal would not allow him to serve as Acting President. He invited him as President then to come to Lagos and open the new Zenon HQ at Walter Carrington Crescent. They are always together. After elections when GEJ went to spend a week in Obudu Cattle Ranch to rest, Otedola was there all through the week (probably only private sector person there) while others were Government officials.
Nigeria is a confused country. I am still wondering why the presence of Femi in Aso has not yet ignited a mass protest like the kind we saw after fuel subsidy removal. Femi admitted that he gave Farouq bribe, is there no any constitutional penalty to that? Helllllo!!!!!!
D issue of corruption & leadership in dis nation needs devine intervention
