My thoughts exactly, I cringed when I saw her name amongst the nominees.

He deserves it. In a world where most of the spiritual ‘leaders’ have chosen material wealth and possessions over the message of the kingdom and would rather sit back and wine and dine with politicians and oppressors instead of speaking out against the ills of society, Pope Francis has without fear spoken up and stood up for his belief of a world where every man, woman and child deserves dignity, respect and a good life. Through his deeds and humility he has shown the world that all is not lost. I’m not a Catholic but I support him.

I beg to differ, I think he got what he wanted. This pope plays so well to media, he loves the attention. He still will never top Pope John Paul-now, that was a really cool pope.

You don’t know anything about the man but you just had to say something negative to sound controversial. Before you assassinate someone’s character, try and learn a little bit about them.

Couldn’t have agreed more. Pope Francis humility is legendary and the way he responds to questions about the faith is commendable. He truly deserves that spot.

@boonducks, 164 million “faithful catholics” isn’t the same as 164 “faithful christians”. Catholicism or being attached to any oda denomination won’t get nyone to heaven. So there’s no point “glorying” in numbers. Many are called, few are choosen.
