The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Osun State stated today that it had to convict 96 traffic offenders in the state, in the month of December 2014 alone.
The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr. Muhammad Hussaini, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo.
According to Muhammad Hussaini, the offences committed include: failure to use seat belt; driving without valid vehicle particulars and licenses; drunk driving; driving against traffic and dangerous driving.
He stated that the FRSC mobile courts ordered the offenders to pay between N2,000 and N50,000 as fines, depending on the kind of offence committed.
He said the court, however, cautioned and discharged 10 offenders from those arrested during the month under review.
The sector commander warned motorists against violation of traffic rules and regulations.
He said the corps would not relent in its efforts at enforcing the laws to ensure safety on the highways at all times.
