They should give them something tangible. Which one is trust fund? By the time there’s change of directors, the bank will sing another song.

I love you Olajumoke. I hope your lawyer lolls into all these things carefully for you.

????Sorry I can’t resist anymore????? my constituency demands our bile be aired.

This story as heartwarming as it is has quickly become one of those feel-good tales we use to delude ourselves of how bad Nigeria is like finding a shiny gold coin in a pile of shit!
Before we forget, she started out a bread-hawker, had not the sisters of fate spun in her favour she would have ended up like the millions she left behind still will, trying to subsist on less than $1 a day. Her looks have earned her fame, rightfully so, but what about those whose brains are going to waste? It sickens me that she is being turned into the poster child for ‘grace to grass’ while we conveniently overlook the forest burning down in the background. Her lovely story ought to inspire us to demand far more of our government, not in 4 years but now! After all despite the gold in their heart they’re only so many Olajumokes’ that TY Bello can help, so maybe just maybe in our lifetimes a story like this might read not “Breadseller: Mushin to Runway’ but ‘Entrepreneur: ‘Mittelstand to Runway’.

Yes Yes I know, I’m a hater, I should choke on my bile, why can’t I be happy for her success e.t.c but the fact remains that the economy is slowing, our President seems to be giving us the Insha’Allah routine which would be fine until you realise that our ancestors pissed away the Industrial revolution, post WW2 boom, Gulf War boom, Globalisation, the services revolution and now we stand what, 30-40 years away from the full on robotics revolution when that time comes do we want to point to the thousand Olajumoke who ‘God’ lifted or the hundreds of millions we lifted.

The community here is made up of some of the smartest most succinct people on the Nigerian web and if all we can do is aww, purr and tap at this without looking at the bigger picture then fuck it we’re doomed as a country.

S/N Federal civil servants, any funny stories recently, especially salary-wise? or did the ones in my family piss the oga at the top off.

I too agree with you, i think she is just being used as publicity stunt, she is the hot celeb now , and lets wait and see what fate throws her way, thankfully her PR team should market her to the point where she can successfully enjoy her wealth. However what i don’t like is all these big so call firms and company piggy backing on her fame all in the name of publicity. here we have Stanbic setting up Trust funds for her child and maybe in the future children, what about the countless motherless babies in orphanage. Will they setup trust fund for them as well. Please please for the love of God if we want to be truly charitable, lets do it the right way and stop being hypocrites and Vipers.

Shes now holding their daughter hope people are happy. The husband is feeling like the man and their marriage wont break up now. *sideeyes*

  • Diana February 18, 2016 at 9:03 pm

OK I am now officially nauseous. All these brands jumping on the Jumoke PR wagon are a bunch of hypocrites.

  • kg February 18, 2016 at 9:14 pm

Where is are other child? I have never seen him in any of their pictures.

  • Lil February 18, 2016 at 9:14 pm

Before you people come here and be angry about the amount of attention she’s getting just remember she didn’t ask for it, our God they overdo! He has sent people to help her and so be it. People would continue to help her as much as God wants, even if they’re using it to promote their business stylishly.

God is a God that does beyond man can think

  • Destiny February 18, 2016 at 10:55 pm

I don’t understand people and the hate they spew in public. We all know that when God decides to favor someone he does it in a jaw dropping way sometimes. This is the manifestation of 1st Corinthians 2:9.
Also, God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

  • Peaches February 18, 2016 at 11:56 pm

So… Is anybody going to actually make her WORK for her money? This is how people go broke so quickly. It’s like winning the lottery – you just don’t know what to do with that kind of money/fame that comes so quickly without working for it. Hope she has some good people around her anyway.

    • ‘Deola February 19, 2016 at 1:29 am

She was out working when fame and fortune smiled on her. Tinie Tempah was overthrown.

Trust me this real WORK and she is creating work for others too.

Lawyers, stylists, photographers will be paid at some point.

She is helping redistribute the proceeds of capitalism.

There is something in it for everyone.

Traffic for bloggers , Ads for newspapers and congregation for hope merchants.

      As simple as ABC.

      • newbie February 19, 2016 at 2:23 pm

I love it….”congregation for hope merchsnts”. There’s something in it for everybody, my sister.

  • swagg1 February 19, 2016 at 1:12 am

Isnt this news starting to jump the shark? Enough already, there are thousand of Jumoke in need of assistance. Go discover other ladies .

  • ‘Deola February 19, 2016 at 1:33 am

OK oh going up you pray at the top you pray harder. Your enemies just increased even those who smile with you don’t mean it. Love you stay blessed

  • Ada February 19, 2016 at 7:57 am

I am reminded of a bible verse “when God turned around the captivity of Zion, they were like those in a dream!”

Meaning the turn around must have been drastic. There may plenty Jumokes but they can’t all shoot to limelight. Jesus said, “you will always have the poor among you” In the light of this, how many more Jumokes do we think can be helped?

  • Mabinuori February 19, 2016 at 8:03 am

    Irony of life!
Sure she cant even read what is written therein. When the favor of the Almighty lands on you, it bypasses all protocols!

  • Shade February 19, 2016 at 8:31 am

I cant wait to see how all these stories would endmmm just eager… 6 minths from now… what will happen to Jumoke the bread seller? or she would have been abandoned after Stanbic IBTC is tired of her face… TY bello gets a better Project… Pay Portes gets another face… I just pray it ends well for her and not jume fame for a little while for others to shine.

    • huh February 19, 2016 at 10:04 am

  • mimimi February 19, 2016 at 10:28 am

TY please don’t let this girl out of your sight. Finish the work you started, get her to the place where she can be self sustaining because the wolves are all jumping in to exploit her for exposure and brand visibility but it okay. That’s how God works but you are the angel he has sent on this assignment so please don’t fail.
