From A Simple Beginning to A Fairytale Wedding: Doyin Karunwi and Raymond Dokpesi Jnr Tie The Knot

dokpesi-jnr-wedding-bella-naija-mainDoyin Karunwi and her beau Raymond Dokpesi tied the wedding knot on the 18th of July 2009. The couple met at a mutual friend’s house a couple years ago, their relationship then blossomed while they were students at university and  now they have committed to each other as husband and wife.

They were joined in holy matrimony at St Jude’s Cathedral in Lagos. The bride looked exquisite in her ice-white Duchesse satin corseted strapless gown with a cathedral train by BN Fave Yemi Osunkoya of Kosibah Creations Couture who flew into Lagos to ensure that Doyin looked stunning on her special day. For the church service, the dress was worn over an ice white silk organza chemise with long tight sleeves that was later taken off at the reception for a glamorous evening look. She wore a matching hood in the gown fabric and appliqué made by Lyze Hats and completed the look with a bouquet of white roses. Raymond Jnr was looking smooth in a charcoal black suit, white shirt and a black bow tie. The Bridesmaids stood out in long gowns in an array of colours while the groomsmen were quite dapper in their black suits, whites shirts and ties in shades of cream and gold.

The wedding was emceed by the duo of Julius Agwu and A.Y, Godbless and his Eboni band got the hall grooving to various hits. The bride was later given an unexpected treat with a surprise performance by Wande Coal, who enthralled both young and old with his reigning hits: Bumper to Bumper, You want it, Ololufe.

It was a beautiful day that guests of Doyin and Raymond Dokpesi will not forget in a hurry as they joined in celebrating the love of the newly wedded couple. We at BN are wishing the couple a blessed and fruitful marriage.

OMG!! The bride is absolutely stunning and her dress is out of this world! I really like the sleeves instead of those shrug/jackets people tend to wear and I love how she looked so demure and “pure” for the church ceremony and then the sexy came on for the reception. Not feeling the cake though….. Everything else fab!

This bride is just stunning, haba in every picture your eyes are drawn to her first. As for that Yemi Osunkoya, he knows how to give every woman a figure eight in each of his creations, too bad he doesn’t have a US presence, na you London people dey enjoy.

Beautiful wedding and beautiful couple. That’s an interesting cake they have, I want a peice. This is the another wedding where you have two educated black people marrying each other, this doesn’t happen much in america or europe. I love the picture of all of the guys leaning. Good luck to the happy couple.

Yemi, The Bride’s dress is simple and elegant more attractive with the neck lace detail at the wedding service than without at the reception. However, it’s good she had the options! But it’s those bridesmaids that really do it in the style stakes, they rock damm it! Sexy,Sassy and cute! Very 1940’s with that London B girl vibe! they pulled it off sooo well! with the headflowers and contrasing colours sooo on point! Love it! x

what?? educated people don’t get married much in america and europe? could u kowashiate a little more pls?? I want to believe u r not that ignorant or out of touch with life…what?!

and how do u know their level of education?? ok, so bella said they met at the university…..most young nigerians here, what did we come to a foreign land to do other than education…alot of us are even exceeding beyond college/university….what exactly do u mean biko? i really wanna know

Nma, I didn’t say educated people didn’t get married in america and europe. My main point was “two educated black people marrying each other” and that doesn’t happen much with many black people in america or europe.
When I read this post and saw that they met at university, that’s how I came with the fact that things that happen with these people on this site probably wouldn’t normally happen with american blacks or maybe even european blacks because from what I see, the more education and money these people have, the more likely they wouldn’t marry other black people.

Maybe this should’ve been posted on the other post with the man and woman that graduated from Harvard, Oxfard etc.

You come off as being offended and I don’t understand why but I hope I’ve settled some misunderstandings you may have had.
