How can one young, ambitious young lady carry a nation to the international fashion stage? The answer is talent and flair. Adama Kai graduated from Parsons School of Design, honed her design skills in New York and then returned to Sierra Leone to set up what is now one of the most promising new design houses in Africa – Aschobi Designs. Since her move back home, Adama has recorded many remarkable successes. Aschobi was commissioned to create a dress that was auctioned at the Africa Inauguration Ball in the honour of president Barack Obama, all proceeds went to Africare. She showed her designs on the international stage at the ARISE Fashion Week in Johannesburg. Now her pieces are well sought after all over the continent. I love the fact that you embrace the all the ‘Africanness’. This is what sets you apart and may spur you to international stardoom! It is the uniqueness you bring and the portrayal of African culture. Good photography, Good Job!
