She beat out the boys – Nneka wins MOBO 2009 Best African Act award

Nneka MOBONigerian musician Nneka won the Best African Act award at the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards in Glasgow last night. Other shortlisted nominees for the Best African Act award were Eldee, Mujava, Oumou Sangare and Salif Kelta. Irish/Nigerian crooner Laura Izibor was also one of the MOBO nominees, she was up for the Best UK Newcomer award which went to JLS. Congrats to all the nominees and winners including JLS, one of their members Ortise Williams is Nigerian!
